One small thing I love is how they changed the “Listen” prompt to “Speak” since The Knight was a silent protagonist, while Hornet is not, and Hornet can actually have conversations with the other bugs. It’s a small change, but a meaningful one. (to me at least)

The butterfly that broke the seal on hornet’s cage looks like the same butterflies that lace is interacting with before her fight so maybe lace broke hornet out

It's a nice comparison of the characters and the environment they're in.

3:15 That's just a visual glitch. It looks like she takes 3 masks of damage, but she only actually takes 1, as you can see her take damage later and visibly not lose any masks. The same glitch is in the original Hollow Knight, when you use the deep focus charm and happen to finish healing at the exact same time as you take damage it will look like you took 2 damage, when in fact you only took 1. I've experienced it many times while going through the pantheons.
I think that it's not a visual glitch, but just a functional glitch. I believe that Team Cherry posted something on their blog about you losing all the silk if you take damage while healing, and you don't get any masks back

@@jjs32stepstoenlightenment37 her death is very complicated with soul particals around her in critical health but shadow screen after death but theres no shade she leaves silk cocoon in place of death instead also you lose your rosaries when you die if you dont have rosary string (its to tie them up on a string to not lose them explained in gamplay) so idk

@@jjs32stepstoenlightenment37 hornet isn't void, but a mix of the Pale King and the Weaver's... magic? Just as the Knight was half void, half pale king's light. Thats why she says they're related but she doesnt share that same emptiness.
One kinda minor thing I noticed, is in the fight with lace, when she gets stunned, hornet is able to get multiple hits off before lace becomes unstunned, which didn’t really happen in hollow knight

hi! so there is more details given from ign's uploaded gameplay as well, and some commentary you might have missed (also edit omg thanks for the likes and the ❤️):
1. rosary strings are not another form of currency. they're an item which holds your rosaries for you after you die. i'm assuming it doesn't hold all of them, because that could be overpowered, but i'm not sure. they also mentioned that you can "break" them purposefully, so that could be something in the menu, similar to cashing in artifacts for geo in the city of tears.
2. in ign's gameplay, they did show the death animation and hornet indeed is not made of void. she has no shade and simply loses all of her rosaries. the person playing didn't go back to kill the enemy or anything, so as far as i know, it isn't known how rosaries can be picked back up after a death.
3. a small thing you might have missed is that the bosses now have a cute little spinny halo over their heads when they become stunned now, and i think that's absolutely adorable.
4. a passive enemy(?) called the flea was shown, which didn't actually attack hornet. they could be the new form of grubs, but not much was shown about them.
5. a lot of emphasis was placed on the fact that team cherry poured even more time and detail into the world design, which is certainly exciting!
6. we did get to see how hornet was kept imprisoned, and what allowed her to escape: some sort of spell was on the carriage, and a white butterfly landed on it which dispersed the spell. this allowed hornet to escape, and she also presumably killed her escorts. these white butterflies are also the same as the butterflies that lace seemed to be "conducting" before her boss battle started.
7. probably the most important thing: when asked for a release timeline, the girl showing off footage for nintendo mentioned that silksong will be coming out soon!! she said team cherry wasn't at e3 because they were still working hard on the game, and that she couldn't give a more specific release time for them. but, it's certainly promising to hear that it could be coming soon.

Since the fleas follow the same pattern as the grubs, they're probably the same. They both stand in one spot until you get to them, then do a celebration animation before disappearing.
In the IGN gameplay close to the end, due to the guy dying once at the boss, there was something akin to a cocoon, which I assume to be where you recover your rosary beads, but I'm not entirely sure if there was an indication that they were re picked up.
About #3, the spinny halo thing makes a small ringing bell(?) sound. Thought that might be worth mentioning
The "spell" around the hornet's cage is propably seal of binding.
Lace is basically Hornet of this game.

That staff character who Hornet collapses in front of in the demo reminds me a lot of that snail character from Hollow Knight who The Knight learns that fireball move from after being seemingly attacked by. Draws some parallels, I think.

I think the tools menu had three different sections because they are divided in the following categories: Active tool, Effect tool (adds an extra effect do the Active tool) and Passive Tools
Having one type of tool affect all the active tools would be pretty complicated, since they seem like they serve several different purposes. My guess would be that blue is passive, and yellow is some sort of navigation or utility type, since the symbol for it is a compass.

There's a nice detail I noticed while thinking of the lore elements of the game. In the lava area the enemy's are mining and their moves are almost reminiscent of the people in the crystal peaks. In the first game they were mining crystals at the peak and sending them down below, but in Silk Song they harvest ore's at the bottom of the kingdom and probably ship them up to the top.
Pretty sure Hornet is gonna sing at some Point in this game and it's gonna Sound amazing

Hornet doesn’t seem like she would sing, but she used her needle as a instrument so,
I feel like silksong’s theme is going to be kind of reversed, Where the knight befriends and forges bonds with npc’s in the game such as the stag and nailmasters, hornet will be almost an uneasy alliance, suck as the new fast travel NPC, where in the trailer we see hornet fighting the creature, then later riding it, instead of befriending this late bug, she just beats it into submission
It looks amazing! I was skeptical when they announced Silksong, because or Hornet's fast fighting style. But they've made the world and enemies compliment her well.
The flying white bugs that were near Lase was the bug that landed on hornets cell which broke the seal allowing hornet to escape at the beginning

somnolent Slumber the woman that was playing in Nintendo Treehouse mentioned that rosary strings are used so that you don’t lose rosaries when you die. They must have a maximum capacity of rosaries, and you lose the rest when you die.
@@mujicarus Or it's like I said, they're a form of currency you don't lose when you die. There's no maximum, like in dark souls games. They're just a method of giving yourself currency when you need it. Just like the items you sell to Lemm in Hollow Knight.

They're saying perhaps it's a string that holds for example 100 rosaries so that when you die, you'll immediately still have those (even though say you had 300 rosaries when you died). Like, you'd still have them without having to sell anything. Obviously everything is still conjecture at this point, though.

Here's a little thing i noticed, The cage that Hornet was captured with and brought to the kingdom of Pharloom in had some sort of seal of binding on it; it apears that the seal of binding broke when the white dragonfly-ish bug made contact with it. this is intresting for two reasons, one we can see Lace later on in the Forest of Bones play around with some before the battle with her; second is that this whould explain why Hornet all of a sudden could break free from her capturers with such ease.
Just a little tid bit i thought was intresing!

Regarding the rosary string, I believe I heard someone at Treehouse say that it would perhaps function like the Shade, allowing you to not lose all of your rosaries upon death. It could also mean that you could collect more strings to be able to save even more rosaries.
also at 7:15 she TOTALLY accidentally revealed a hidden destructable wall
fish butt I feel like it’s just the coal wall reacting to her being close to it. Like how it lights up to when Hornet walks on the coal, it lights up similarly. Also I don’t even think she hits the wall.
@@anthony-to6cb If that's the case shouldn't more of the wall light up? It did seem to be the right size for a destroyable wall, but it also doesn't seem like Team Cherry to make it so obvious that it lights up when you get close to it.
Noah Oaks if you look at where she walks on the coal section and the overall walls, it looks like it’s made of patches of coal rather than an even patch. Even when she runs over them, the lighting affect doesn’t follow her but rather happens when she walks on a certain part.

Actually, someone might've already pointed this out, but I heard that rosary strings prevent you from losing your rosary when you die.
This Demo, came out, 2 years ago, *GOD* !
In the video they actually talk about the rosary strings, the people playing the game basically say the rosary string prevent you from losing your rosary total when you die because you can hang on to the rosaries when they are on astring rather than them all spilling on the floor. Given that hornet is not void, I think this will be the system of regaining(or just not losing) all of your money every time you die rather than the ghost is in the first game

a nice detail I knowticed is when characters Hornet talks, at the top of the text box is her symbol, but for other characters it is a ball with string? its a nice detail to know who is talking and could be an indicator to who are main characters.

11:24 there is also something at the bottom left corner to switch a crest; maybe certain crests give benefits.
i assume crest would change the amount of tools u can have, maybe one allows u to have two yellow charms over a yellow and blue, or something along those lines
@@ene3651 That makes sense, and it could support what was said about having as many combinations as there were charms. That would open up many more possible ways of pairing the utilities.
Okay for the healing thing, the 3 masks didn’t just disappear they were still there but you couldn’t see them as proved by the fact she gets hit 2 more times and doesn’t take any visible damage. This also happened in hollow knight too with deep focus, if you got hit at the exact moment you finished healing then both masks would disappear but one would still be there, I’ve personally had this happen to me a lot. Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to set the record straight.
Finally finished Hollow Knight after 2 months and just picked up Elden Ring which is my first souls game ever to keep me going til SilkSong comes out. Also, what's with the ER bosses reading my inputs? Just beat Margit after 6 attempts, on attempt 5 I sat there with my shield up and he literally just stood and tapped it four times in a minute with that half-hearted cane swing. He didn't start going nuts with Holy weapon/leaping attacks till I immediately hit the attack button. that isn't designed difficulty in my opinion. I think you can make a boss hard and engaging without making them read and react to specific player inputs.
When that character seemed to "knock hornet out" or whatever they did, I was reminded of how Snail Shaman rendered you unconscious when he gave you your first spell in Hollow Knight
It was implied in the Treehouse footage that you were able to break apart the rosary strings in your inventory to gain some rosaries, but if you break them you could lose them when you die. On the other hand if you kept them intact you wouldn’t lose them.
So this games version of kings idols/Arcane eggs etc.

Actually, the heal did go through, it’s just that the ui glitched out and it didn’t update as you can see at 3:36 Hornet gets hit again but she doesn’t lose any masks, meaning that the heal did go through, it just didn’t look like it.
Here’s some interesting things I noticed , look at the helmets, they look like bells, the spears look like tuner forks, is this a coincidence? I think not, the monsters are having a music theme to them, not entirely sure on what this theme was in the original game but I feel like there was a similar one. Weird thought that occurs to me is I remember something I heard somewhere, apparently hornet’s weapon is a nail it’s a needle.

It isn't showed in the demo, but if Hornet dies, she doesn't leave a Shade behind. Instead there's a cocoon of silk at the place of your death that you can hit to replenish your gauge to full. I'm not sure if it restores your currency though.
AFAIK, it doesn't replenish rosary beads, since one of the players mentioned that rosary strings are so you don't lose beads. However, this might be different, and we do get a chance to retrieve them. The strings are just the extra safety blanket.
actually, the part about healing and getting hit at the same time resulting in your health not replenishing is just a visual glitch. you can see a little bit after that hornet gets hit, but doesn't lose any masks.
Lace let hornet escape form that cage since she was playing with those little white flies and she knew how hornet escaped... >D
15:12 You didn't point it out so might have missed it but in the previous trailer (clip at 12:25) Hornet is playing her weapon like a Cello or Double Bass. So that might be another musical thing.
Possibly a skill which opens up character interaction like the Dream Nail in Hollow Knight?
Im fairly certain the healing thing against lace was a bug that was also in the original hollow knight. In hollow knight if you had full focus and took damage the moment you healed it didn't show any increase in health but it did still increase your health.
I think the treehouse said that you loose all of your rosaries when you die but having rosary strings helps you keep some amount of rosaries that you otherwise would have lost,
Just wanted to say I think the part where hornet lost all 3 mask she took 2 more hearts afterwards and took no damage so I think it was just a visual glitch. Not sure if they've spoken in that moment or not yet but mossbag pointed this out on his video.
Team cherry confirm it that when she gets hit while she is healing she will lose the heal, in that moment on the demo was actually a glitch bcuz she got hit and she didn’t lose more masks but yea u lose the masks if u get hit while healing
when the silk circle is full it also means you can do a charged attack

Actually hornet did heal when attacked in the boss fight indicated by when she had taken a hit after that and no masks were lost it was probably just a visual glitch since they are still working on the game

When she tried to heal and got hit you see that she actually healed when she gets hit 2 more times and doesn't lose masks.

I really liked how Hornet sat on the benches though. During the treehouse, I was hoping that they would just let her sit for a while.
Also, Hornet's death animation reminds me of the Pure Vessel.
Playing as a boss is really fun, especially when you have the same moveset.
They said that the rosary strings stay with you after you die. Whenever you need money you are allowed to break them anytime and they will turn into regular currency.
For the rosary strings I think that they work something like boss souls or wanderers' souls in Dark Souls in that they aren't lost when you die and you can exchange them at any time for some rosaries. In the Treehouse video they said that you don't lose rosaries if they are on a string and the person playing said you could break the string which is probably how you get the rosaries from it.

On Healing: It looks like Silksong currently has the same bug that Hollow Knight had when healing. If you finish healing at the same time an enemy hits you, you will heal completely and take one point of damage but the health bar will not reflect this change. You can see at 3:54 where this bug occurs, and then at 3:56 and 4:10 where two more hits occur but no damage is shown. I encountered this bug a lot in Hollow Knight when using the Deep Focus charm.
One neat little tidbit I noticed: The weapons the bellheads are wielding look like a mix of a fire poker and a tuning fork!
I guess this is gonna have to fill in for the mossbag video until it comes out.
An interesting tidbit I haven't heard anyone mention is the fact that that tablet in the dock area with instructions for shipments seems to use beats and measures as units of measurement for the supplies to be exported, which further contributes towards the music theme.
Honestly this channel is good automatically because it does the yahtzee croshaw humor almost as well as the man himself.

i'm glad we'll have sprinting and ledge grabbing. i'd love to see a scene where hornet runs in a cave or a dark place and it transitions to i bright grassy field of sorts. it sounds beautiful and fun.

Later in the tree house commentary, they state that rosarie strings are a safe place to put some of your currency when you die, and when she attacked the string later on and collected rosaries, I took that as her taking back her currency she saved for later.
(From memory, it's been a day since I watched this)
18:03 if I remember correctly, at the Treehouse the girl playing said that out of curiosity she had broken a Rosary String and that later she found out that if you die, your Strings don't disappear, but your stray Rosaries do

Perhaps those little bugs have some important use or contain a unique ability??
I wonder if that means Lace released Hornet so she could take something from her or something like that. It's all speculation though.
