I'm so glad that, even as a millennial, I worked on my friends dairy farm all the time, I helped my dad with his roofing company when I was young and I also had chores to do when I got home. Hard work was drilled into me at a young age and has been one of the best advantages that I have ever received.

(Edit) keep in mind I was referring to the trim level and boomer farmers not the purchase of the truck itself. Obviously a farmer can justify a pickup and a capable one at that. However the luxury trim is simply creature comfort. All trucks have seats, all trucks have mirrors, all trucks have a/c, every option you have outside of the mechanical components is about luxury. It costs over $3,000 just for LED head lights and taillights in a new truck, you don’t need seat heaters for farming, you don’t need remote start and panoramic glass roof with a giant info screen. I don’t need it either but given that it is my office away from my office, I justify the creature comforts based on the amount of time spent in the truck. The boomer farmers I know have new picks ups in many cases but rarely high trim. My industry (heavy equipment and mining) fleet trucks are low trim and personal trucks are nearly ubiquitously high level trim especially when your company is giving a payout for a vehicle. I know a guy that somehow talked his company into buying him a raptor because he didn’t need the payload of the 1 tons that everyone else got. I would have said great we can save some money on you, here is an equivalent trim 150 as the rest of the fleet. Good for him, he definitely has the more valuable resale compared to all the 1 tons that everyone else got which are worth half now what they cost new. I justify mine because I drive about 50,000 miles a year all over the US but I am not a farmer, just originally from a farming community. Farming is hard. I usually buck bout 500-700 bails a year in one day to help a family friend. He does wheat year round. The bails usually range between 70-90 lbs each. Stack em in fives and dump off the sled

As a 24 y/o who did the same I'd advise you to stop that and do the right thing. At 24 I'm over 60% deaf. It sucks not being able to hear your friends when in a loud room or bar. I think this is supposed to be titled "Gen Z trying to farm." people don't realize there's 37 year old millennials. The generation that eats tide pods, believes in the slender man, and doesn't know what a VCR is, is gen Z.

Farming is hard. I usually buck bout 500-700 bails a year in one day to help a family friend. He does wheat year round. The bails usually range between 70-90 lbs each. Stack em in fives and dump off the sled
That airpod thing is so true though 😂 I'm a summer help city worker and they let us 18 y/os run huge equipment and big ass loud tractors and shit that it's required to wear ear pro and we all just listen to music louder than the equipment which is probably worse than not wearing anything at all 😂
As a 24 y/o who did the same I'd advise you to stop that and do the right thing. At 24 I'm over 60% deaf. It sucks not being able to hear your friends when in a loud room or bar. Or having to crank the phone volume on calls. Can't hear music in the car but much too loud for gf etc. Rethink your choices before it's too late

nearest university to me is about 25 miles and the nearest starbucks is 5 miles. that if it is still in business. it was about 5 years ago but i have not paid attention even though i pass that way quite often.
