Tri Joe, I followed you on the tracker and knew you had a tough run. That said, you finished and got to share the experience with friends and family and those memories are what really matter. If not Ironman then what's next? I find it hard to believe that a man as focused and dedicated as yourself can just turn the spigot off. Maybe after such a long journey, your personal or professional life beckons you. Pursuing Ironman finishes is a balancing act and I can only imagine winning age groups and going to Kona requires a whole other level of dedication. Well done Tri Joe.
Isn't that true! Few of us will have these kind of memories. And whether it's a strong finish or a blowup, well, blowups are no less memorable are they :)
You have no reason to be disappointed but I knew you were and I get it but one day does not define you especially if that day is Kona. Your resume speaks for itself and the great days you’ve had far outweigh the tough ones. Kona is the reward for that success and no one is more deserving. Also I’m calling bullshit, it’s not you last Ironman. You keep a list of guys that passed you in a local sprint 12 years ago….. the chance of you letting that race be your last is 🍩👌😂 You da man! Proud of you Kona Joe
Keep your chin up Joe. Your energy is what inspires alot of us to not take ourselves too seriously and enjoy this crazy sport of Ironman. Great job out there. I tracked you all day and there's nothing you should feel except joy. Congrats!!
Thanks for the recap, my hat is off to you for what you did to get there, and even more so for getting to the start at Kona, not everyone can say they made it, I know I won't. I hope that wasn't your last, I'm hoping your at the start line with me next year at Choo 70.3 and 144.6, both will be my first IM events.
Congrats! Great heartfelt recap. Chat run humbled me this year too but the key is staying grateful as you are. Take care bro. God bless. Great lesson for your daughter of finishing a hard race even when things didn’t go your way
Hey sorry you didn’t get your ideal race but your ability to look at the big picture and reflect is a great perspective. Keep grinding and look forward to seeing your next adventure! 👏💪❤
Great recap 👏 The hardest days make you stronger fitter and mentally better.Kudos for staying humble. My 9 times in Kona as media made me love the spirit of the island.Hope you felt it too.
Awesome race recap! Followed you all day long, you did amazing and you have to be so proud of accomplishing something so few have done. Would love to see your medal and necklace on a future video. My buddy was there and started a few minutes before you so I thought I was going to get to finally see the necklace in person but he had a bad day and didnt finish. Anyway congratulations!
Was tracking you and my buddy. You killed it out there. I hope you soaked up every moment and shared your crazy energy with the kona folks!! super proud of you man.
sounds like you had the same run experience as my buddy. after 13 miles he swapped to 90s run, 30s walk. he did that for the last 13 miles. The heat was killer. Dude. you finished. you friggin made it across the finish line at the world championships!!! keep your head up, there is no shame. you are strong as hell!
Ouch. Yes I know what you're talking about regarding people saying "good job, good job", as if you were 70 years old and happy to walk the marathon. No, I've never done an ironman, but I've had a volunteer happily exclaim "YOU MADE IT" when I got out of the water just before the swim time limit in a 70.3. (My "normal" swim time, however pathetic, would be 2/3 of the limit). If she was a male, I might've punched his face!

Thank you so much. That place is truly magical. I can absolutely see why people want to race on the island. Too bad you weren't there this year. :D

Thanks buddy! I appreciate that! Starting to get that fire back.
If Kona is your last Ironman, that’s leaving on a high even if it wasn’t your best race! But I hope you’ll be back for more!
Congrats TriJoe! Keep in mind less than .001% of the people ever get a chance to get to Kona. What an amazing accomplishment!
Thanks buddy. It was a journey. That is for sure.
Everyone has a bad race! Don’t let it get you down!
I forget all the bad stuff as soon as I see that finish line picture. :D
