Thats a 1963 or newer engine. The 1954 and 1955 first series trucks had the same two bolt crossmember rear mounting as the 55 second thru the 68 trucks have, So a 230 or 250 bellhousing will bolt in and fit. The 55 first series had a open driveline the 54 was the torque tube design. Likely you can pinpoint the year from the Vin Number?
Yep, that family of engines came out in '63. There were four of these inline sixes starting with a 194, 230, 250 and a 292. They all had hydraulic lifters and a 7-main bearing crank & block....a way more modern and more powerful engine than the old 235 stove-bolt sixes, and 216s in the pre-1954s.
@@franklinbrown8417 Yep, I remember. I'm over age 70 and worked in an automotive machine shop engine rebuilder in the early 1970s while attending college. Thanks, Franklin!
You are partially correct. It was the back glass, the corner windows, and the door glass. Neither the windshields, nor the vent windows, were part of the equation.
Check the VIN number. Yes, that motor appears to be newer. IF the truck still has the torque tube style drive line and differential, then it's a 1954. IF it's an open drive line... and, unlike the motor, has not been upgraded to something newer, then it's a 1st 1955. There's also a chance that a previous owner used different parts, from both models, and repainted the truck at some point. As for the hood emblems... the hood was probably missing one at some point, and someone just used whichever emblem they came across first.
Cool old truck. Just love watching your videos keep them coming. And thanks for taking the time to share with all of us.

If 54, the serial number will start H54. If 55, the serial number will start H55. H applies to 3100 series only.
If he'd look at the driveline, that would clear up some of the puzzles.

That front hood emblem has to be a one and a half year only piece as well.
yes
Early 54 had enclosed drive line
Early 55 had a open driveline.
The side hood emblems
We're also different
Does it have an open driveshaft or the torque tube rear end?
Early 54 had a 2 piece windshield
I'm looking for one of those thats complete I have a complete 66 c10 I would like to trade for one is that something yal do?
How much are you asking for it?
For 8k this guy is crazy
Who said 8k? I have one in much better shape and with all the windows intact. I'd take $10,000 for it. Mine is a 55
hope someone takes that old truck and gets it back on the road.
Enclosed driveshaft was the '54..
Open driveshaft was "54-1/2
Correct...not "54-1/2" though...early '55....
5 window refers to the rear window 2 corner windows and 2 piece windshield
