What many don't realize (watching through a camera lens) is how ridiculously small the circle is...about 8 ft in diameter. So now look again at some of the complexities, variety & spontaneity of what WE (RSC) were doing...PLUS, all sets containing TopRock, Footwork & Freezes. So how can any one even say that we lost, got smoked, ran out of moves, etc? This was a massacre! Slaughter! I actually started the Battle (with the Headspin) because I was so tired of hearing the crowd ooing & awing over the Japanese Dudes. I know for a fact that they were MUCH better than this BUT...I feel they got shook & choked. They were All nice guys tho (Imperial JBs) & I think they really enjoyed the experience. BTW, there WAS music from a BoomBox in another circle & the battle stopped because our time was up for the Park Rental. We had to pack it up. E
Easyroc, I'm Paul, I practiced with you a few time in 1991 and 92. I was friends with Eric Sanford and Louis ramirez. I have great footage practicing with you. Back then, you blew my mind, but now that I look back and see how you joined RSC, and even got sicker, I'm just amazed. You were the best I ever saw. But more imlortant, in every practice you have me props and so much encouragement. You were the coolest! I hope you don't mind, I've been showing clips of you on my Facebook page.I don't know if you remember me, but I'm the white guy who had crazy curly hair. My hair ain't what it used to be, haha. I'm happy to see how far you wnt, and down to it crazy legs and men swift!!!
A few sets didn't have freezes. Maybe most did but I noticed some didn't and Rock Steady Crew went in more than once basically taking the turn of Imperial JB's. Dope battle either way.
Easy roc was in a class by himself at that time. His footwork was super fast and clean and he kept the original style which most newbies back then didn’t do. I mean seriously, there was no point in going after easy roc cause you weren’t going to out due whatever move he did. It’s almost embarrassing trying to go after him.
I was there and it was hard to watch. If RSC would of let Easy Roc control the battle it would of been different. Who’s the dude the jumped in and helped out Japan? Dudes a legend
Leg's comes on at 4:00 and destroys their world with a BX beatdown man, those times were illmatic. so natural. have you noticed there isn't even music, and somehow it doesn't even matter.
Rock steady got me started on break dancing had so much fun thanks for all the good times and good memories god bless the days and to all bboys past away and all those still with us amen 🙏 aight aka 👑KingRichee
Rock Steady destroyed them!! A Headspin does not out duel raw Bboying. Funny when I had this video as a kid I thought the opposite. Now it's clear that Rock Steady was futuristic and these kids were amateurs!
Just a thought. It would be amazing if someone with the knowledge and know how, made a mixtape replica of the near impossible to discern music, way in the background there. Then blend that audio with the audio on this tape, because it sure does seem a legendary battle, but it's just a pity that the music is so detached from it.
this was a fun event. we got to see legendary imperial JBs robbie RSC and down to the DJ booth was Invisibl Skratch Piklz. Pretty insane for some park in San Diego. Shit was dope!
I see Crazy Legs, Flow Master, Ken Swift, & Easy Roc. Who’s the other member of RSC whose name starts with a “B”? First time seeing him. Guy is pretty tight.
American music forms: Spirituals,, Blues, Ragtime, Jazz, Country,, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented Black American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly.. Latinos -- puerto ricans particularly -- explain how you co-created or co-invented yet another installment in the legacy of Black Musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't co-create or co-invent any of the elements of the 14 or so African American music forms that preceeded it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of Black American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout, or even prior to the previous 14 or so Black American music forms that are mentioned above. Yet then, all of a sudden--out of nowhere, you folks come along and falsely claim latinos and/or puerto ricans co-created and co-invented Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by derrick colon, radical latino, fat joe and numerous other un-informed and envious latinos---claims latinos never mentioned, verbalized or asserted during its inception in the early 1970's)---latinos claims of "50/50--half & half co-creation and co-invention just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny which is leading to these claims being easily debunked--as it should've been. Moreover, the heavy hateful and many times racist criticism directed at the Black American youngsters, by the racist white media over having created Rap and Hip Hop, latinos -- particularly puerto ricans -- and jamaicans NEVER came forward to denounce the vicious onslaught, yet 50 years later they want to take credit for this FBA art form that you didn't create..
PS, are you talking about the HeadSpin w/ the helmet? No Top Rock, Foot Work? Flavor of any kind? I already Squashed that HeadSpin earlier. Someday, I hope you’ll understand. Peace, Easy Roc
That's a really un experienced comment.... I hope you've learned by now, about style, experience, technique, improvisation, timing & control, as opposed to big flashy ( but most often ) simple stunts. I wish you luck if not. ✌🏻️
I own this on VHS, and the teacher let us play this in ceramics class in 1998.
Better progression since the eighties. Here in 2024 its a whole new level of Bboys. Amazing!!!!

@@MG-ng6zl I believe that’s Robbie from Air Force Crew. Dude had crazy air power back then
No matter how big of a stage, lights , cameras and spectators, you will NEVER beat the energy of a raw circle.
Lol brings back memories! This battle was the first time I witnessed a crew get ROASTED...RSC all day. This shit wasn't even fair lol.

Yep. One of the first clips I saw and downloaded back in the late 90's on my Windows 98 computer. You threw a dope event. You already know.

Jason Bouskill There is music....from a BOOM Box in the other circle!!! So sorry we bored you!
Ken and crazy legs were bad assess back in the 80's it clearly shows they don't have enough moves and power ones to compete with a younger generation
