These guys were heros in so many ways. Glad i was old enough to experience it and never come close to being as good. They were iconic and made everyone work harder. F'ing legends.
In many ways this is the ultimate battle. Bboys doing move for move. Whatever they felt like, not a structured set 'which should win the battle' but what they felt would be their best. You just don't see bboy battles like this anymore. The hype, energy and fun of breaking. Wish I was born 10 years earlier and in Europe. Would have been great to see!
when I watch this, it looks like blueprints. Bboying has evolved to allow longer sets, with connections and proper endings. It's neat to see how something from the streets continued to evolve into a world-wide respectable form of art.
i was in this battle blue top white shorts and we wasn't rock steady family we were second to none with members from always rocking tuff and moritzio who used to be in battle squad . we travelled about 17 hours to get there and walked right into a show crazy days ice kid second to none b boys uk
@@karthik_silkroads tuff tim use to come and practic with us in about 91 and Maurizio was friend of ours and we got invited to be part of rock steady by crazy legs also zulu nation
@@fnk101 it was second to none featuring Tuf Tim from always rocking Tuff who was uk rock steady and mauritzio aka the next one who was Italy rock steady.. 😎👌🏻💯
It is amazing how many times I watched this battle. Eventhough I don't break anymore, I always smile with this battles which I consider kind of nice memories. Back in the days Evo, Maurizio and Swift were my preferred bboys. After that I discovered Enemy Squad, Suicidal Lifestyle and the rest of the hungarians who were also european legends
I just watched an Interview with Storm in which he talked about Swift and him battling as a 2-man-Crew. I believed him instantly....but had to see it with mmy own eyes. What a moment...
Back in the early 90s if u had vhs tapes of these battles u were cool, these were visual textbooks for bboying, big difference in 2023 with youtube and the culture entering the Olympics.
Man I breaker hard in the 80s and 90s, but I never reached this level. Seems there's no in between, you were either ok, or super elite. I've been posting all my old practice sessions on facebook
same in practice, Breakin is hard because either it looks good or not. End of. But not everyone can turn pro etc...just like any other form of dance/sport...do it for the love and the Breakin Bite!!! (not in the taking of move) what I call the feeling when Breakin takes hold of your life, and never let's go. Like a Doberman Pincher
@ontheground. You should def change the title of this video. It was S2N when Maurizio was down with them not Rocksteady. It can be taken as disrespectful when you are using the wrong credits. Especially for a crew like ASA and S2N that were never given enough credit for what they did in this era.
I have to say Storm & swift Rock smoked the whole Rock Steady family , than Storm smoked Crazy legz many years later from the real rock steady lol . That’s the beauty of this dance !
It’s a 3 second looped sample from Farandole by Bob James. Minute 7:29 from the song. Love this lopped version. The original song was used in the BOTY 99 final as well. Hope this helps.
People have no idea how hard it is to dance like that how dangerous it is how flexible you have to be the stamina the endurance it is not easy and tons and tons of practice to risk injury
Malik Josenius they weren’t expecting to battle but people kept talking crap and saying battle so storm and his friend swift took the battles by them selves
Storm, swiftrock and their crew won / came first in the battle the previous year. Only storm and swiftrock went this time as spectators. They hadn't prepared for the Comp. However, they were stepped out, challenged etc so they had little option but to take on the winning crew. What u see on the video is the result
Thanks 1000AT for sharing the back story to what we all can see here. That was a great battle. It's self explanatory who got 1st on that one. With the Hip House mix in the background 😎👍 That was dope. Much Love to All my fellow Old School B-Boys. Shalom-
Awesome oldschool battle, dope powermoves poor style tho. Generally the 90's era was mostly powermoves,( flaires, windmills, halos 90s ,airtwists which invented later at the end of decade).
Stratos, back then in the 90s breaking battles was more about move vs move, and that's why some of the moves were short. So it's not like today where bboys practice and tries to memorize 10 sets so they can use it in battles, and also do 1-2 minutes of just top rocking.
stratos stefanidis Im not sure if you were around and B Boying back in the 90s because your statement is not true. You also had to Boogie in the 90s. Not everyone had certain powermoves therefore when a crowd would see them you would get a big WOW reaction and mad props. At this time Battle Squad from Germany was considered one of the top B Boy crews around the world and Storm was mos def one of the top B Boys back then, shout out to the Imperial J.B.'s from Japan, Style Elements from North Cali., Air Force from L.A., Renegades from North Cali., amongst so many others. As you can see its 2 vs. A few B Boys from Rock Steady, I see Mauritzio from Italy who was is from Rock Steady who was really known in these times as well. Rock Steady always said its all about style and always battled with more style than powermoves, I see the powermove vs powermove in this battle as their way of saying we can get down with the powermoves as well. But they lost this battle to two of the top B Boys in the world at this time Swift and Storm. I remember this Battle Of The Year like it was yesterday. Blessings 🙏
Aktuel Force, Second 2 None, Flow Down Rockers, Style Elements, Enemy Squad, Crazy Force Crew, Suicidal Lifestyles, Spartanic Rockers, and Battle Squad. Legendary B Boy crews that kept b boying alive when it was dead. Style and flavour for days. Peace
old school but i got the older school battle and is not beat street sorry is better is an ignoirance slayer is call NYC rare old battle 1984 check out this video on my Gold skool page,

@Weghweh Hwewehwhe I strongly disagree. It's not more power then back in the day.
so true. The constant crashes... So happy where it is now.
title is wrong, this is battle squad vs second to none
Amazing. I didnt start bboying until 1994-1995, then again 1996-2005.
Thanks to UA-cam I've been following the scene since 2008
Hah! Cool to see the members of Enemy Squad sitting in the front row getting all enthusiastic during the battle. :-)

this is second to none vs battel squad not rock steady crew :-) yes good old times
i know but i guess this the time when RSc made friends with enemy Squad & Maurizio joined them to battle his original crew Battle squad..
Also Tuff Tim is rock steady family aswell as next one so makes sense to call them that really.. 👊🏻
