Omg when I saw your first tail I almost cried! I've been making and remaking fabric tails for myself for years (someday I want to be able to afford or build a gorgeous custom one) but that first one looks exactly like my first attempt which was a pair of leggings sewn together with a pair of scuba flippers!
I got the third mermaid tail ever created by FinFun when I was I think, I think I was 6. I loved it now my dad just bought me my first silicone mermaid tail last night. I’m so excited to see it!!

I bought a fabric tail from I believe finfun and the plastic monofin broke after not even 2 minutes, decided to remake it with the same kind of plastic I had lying around and it broke again, eventually decided it wasn't worth it and gifted the fabric to a friend of mine who was planning to buy a small monofin. Meanwhile, I bought myself a sturdy monofin and I love using it, sadly due to personal reasons I haven't gone swimming in 3 or 4 years and it's kind of killing me tbh. I've been on and off-board for the past 6 or so years, debating whether I should buy a silicone tail cause I really want one but the cheapest I've found so far is from mertailor and would cost me 1350 dollars without shipping (i live in Belgium). This along with the fact that I'm a guy has been stopping me from buying it even though I could technically afford it if I save up for a few months. I'm still doubting.
In my opinion just go for it if you’re a confident swimmer and are able to afford one with you own money it’s totally worth it, if you want a cheaper alternative try marrow fins (not sure if I slept that right) it’s much cheaper and their basic silicone tail costs 600$ USD 812$ CAD. Not sure if it ships go Belgium though 😕
I’m currently making my own silicone tail now because it was a much cheaper option.

I'd name the first one of them "Guppy", because its bright colors really remind me of a little guppy, while I'd name the second one "Ursula", since its violet color and more spikey design reminds me a lot of Ursula from The little Mermaid 😂😋🧜🏻♀️

my (fabric) tail is something like 7 year old and I hate the shape of the fluke so much so I cut it and I putted new fabric and now I looooove it!!! (+ I added some cutie fins)!!!

For the painted tails I use a stencil. In Photoshop I make one and copy and paste it.
