This interview took place almost 37 years ago ... Let the brain process that one for a few minutes and in the meantime go and grab a bottle of jack and bust out that blow you were keeping as a surprise for a weekend out with the old lady, take a few shots of Jack, a couple gaggers and right about the time that kicks in it will hit you that this was 37 years ago. Time flies. Crue rocks.
The end of an era in so many ways. Radio stations interviewing the hot local band; just don't get this anymore - maybe because there just aren't any more hot local bands. Love this band - still get off on Too Fast for Love; simple a great LP.
thank you for even mentioning this. these days local radio stations don't have the stones to interview local bands unless it is 2 am in the morning and nobody is listening. if radio station GM's had the stones maybe we would not have to hear Kansas and ELO on the radio over and over and over again
Hmm, they say they've been together 10 months but it's more like a year, almost, if Jan 17 1981 IS their formation date like they always say. This interview is so great, so much candid Crue!!!
I have to confess, I wasn’t much of a fan after this era. Shout At The Devil had a few songs I liked, but it paled in comparison to the first album, which is just a fucking great album in my book, from start to finish. I don’t begrudge them for taking advantage of an opportunity and becoming the big stars that they became a couple of years after this interview... but no album they made after TFFL made the same kind of impact on me. TFFL sounded like nothing else that had come out up to that point. It really stood out from everything else that was “a thing” at that time in the early 80’s. It was very much glam, at a time when glam wasn’t popular at all, but it was from the street, and sleazy as fuck... which I loved. It lacked the bluesiness of the New York Dolls, but in a way it reminded me of the Dolls just for the streetwise sleaze factor alone. I had just gotten into punk around that time, and TFFL, though not a punk album, had that punk rawness that I loved so much. And great songs. It has held up well over the years and I still listen to it often.
You can seriously tell that Motley Crue wasn’t in it for the fame or the money and they were in it for the music and the expression because they just seemed like they didn’t even care about this interview. If you look at poisons like first interview they were just fighting for the spotlight but in this they just are I it for the kusic
So I went down to LA in the 90's to by some used cars .One of the nice cars a lady that sold the car said it was vince neil's girlfriends years ago..I thought ya right. So we towed the cars home and weeks later we were gutting the carpet and found a womans coin purse with a white powder? Then we found something that we didnt know what it was until my friend watched the Dirt.He called and said remember that old cassette tape we found in that car with the music and the name Tommy ______ and a phone number.I said ya he explained the movie scene and I thought NO WAY ,Is that the tape that tommy gave vince so he could listen to there Demo---A rude sound of a drummer /bass and some fill ins... and
They must’ve gotten lost on the way to those lessons.... wait a minute, if Vince actually did take lessons he must’ve been really horrendous before.... and then I saw footage of the 2022 stadium tour....
Vince and Mick are supposedly 5'9" tall and Nikki Six and Tommy Lee around 6'1" and 6'2" tall. Can someone please explain why they look about a foot taller here?

Its incredible how smart Nikki is and obviously knows how everything is goin to happen for them
Loved KLOS as a kid. Listened to the US Festival on KLOS.
OMG, love it, and its 2020.. still love the Crue 🤩🤩🤩
I like how Nikki referenced White Punks on dope considering 18 years later they would cover it on the new tattoo album :)

Nikki met Tommy January 17th, Mick in February & Vince by the first of April, 1981 ... so yeah, from April 1981 to January 1982 is 10 months
in this picture, Nikki and Tommy look like twins.
The Terror Twins

Idk man shout at the devil was pretty fucking good in my opinion best album from them.. good heavy metal songs
@@jfromstate8581 Yeah it's a good album. It just didn't hit me as hard as TFFL did. Everyone has their favorites. This is mine.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Crazy cuz TFFL is one of my least favorite 80s Crue albums. But like you say, it's different for everyone.
This is a legendary historical Mötley Crüe interview ! With Allan Coffman...No one knew what's going to happen next !
Tommy kinda looked up to nikki i think
the best band EVER !!
R u Serious?
Thanks for posting :)
It seemed like they started as a quasi-punk band but then went glam in just 2 - 3 years.

RodneyLee Nikki is 6 feet. Tommy is 6'4. This an old photo so I am sure both Nikki and Tommy are wearing platforms.
