  • A doorless bathroom? That's one unique part of this room type on Virgin Voyages. You can get more space without the cost of a suite - as long as you're good with the restroom setup. This category of room is called an XL Sea Terrace. It has some neat advantages over a standard Sea Terrace (balcony), it was updated after the ship came out, and yes, this room, 12334Z, has a hammock.

    Just got off my first virgin cruise aboard the Scarlet Lady. It was one of the best cruises I've ever been on. So relaxing and the food was star! We had a sea terrace room which was nice, but I made sure I got the XL sea terrace room on my next booking, because the bathroom is kind of tight on the regular room. This larger bathroom is just what I needed, and only cost $200 more. Trust me, it's worth it!

      Glad to hear you enjoyed! We like the XL (and have one next month for KidFreeFebruary.com) but at this point we're happy to be on Virgin regardless of the room :-)
      When do you sail next?

    Beautiful room - I really do love the Virgin design. I can totally see why some more ‘traditional’ cruisers don’t like them, but I find them SO modern and comfortable!

    Just upgraded our standard to an XL Sea Terrace. Thanks for the review, I am excited to have the larger bathroom. First time on Virgin and hoping it is not too loud and total party ship and that there are areas at the beach club that we can escape the head banging music! LOL. Great tour!

      While many videos and blogs (ours included) focus on the party element, they do a pretty good job at being relaxing. The Dock, for example, is a relaxing oasis. The Beach Club was a bit loud at times, but the last few visits it's seemed to be toned down a bit except during the party. I'll let ya know in a week :-)

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Are you referring to the padded blue square by the closet? If so, in I believe that piece comes into play when moving things around to accommodate three sailors in this room. I've not tried that or seen a three person configuration first hand though, so I can't really speak to any greater detail.
      I ended up sitting there and using the small table so we had a secondary work surface when my s/o was working at the vanity.
      Let me know by if this is what you're talking about.

      @k.mariehowe68 2 роки тому

      @@CruiseHabit ah, I see. Thanks for your reply! So was there an additional chair in the room or was the blue square the only seating?

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  2 роки тому

      I don't think that room had another chair. Some rooms do have a separate chair. I suspect (but can't say for sure) that this depends if the room is able to handle just two (has chair) of 3+ (looses chair in favor of the ottoman of sorts, which helps support a bed).
      You can see the different configurations by going to www.virginvoyages.com/cabins and clicking "See how we flex it" under "2-4 people" in the Sea Terrace section.

    Great room video -- why do cruise ship cabins lack electrical outlets by the beds? Some of us MUST have a CPAP machine to sleep (they don't have USB, must be a plug), hence we don't cruise. But it appears that Scarlet Lady cabins DO have an electrical outlet on BOTH sides???? Is that just the XL Sea Terrace or all Sea Terrace cabins?

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  Рік тому

      Many cruise ship cabins do have outlets next to the beds (especially newer ships). Sometimes they're a bit hidden. For those that don't, just ask the cruise line and they'll bring you an extension cord, and even distilled water.
      Scarlet Lady indeed has a ton of outlets, however.

    Sailing in January and I’m a little worried. We have a SeaTerrace XL on deck 14. Two right above this cabin review. We are the same deck as the bridge but 1) we will have obstructed views looking out towards the front of the ship and sacrifice some privacy as it seems that part of the bridge can look directly in our balcony AND cabin. Would you recommend we move down or towards the middle? How successful are travelers that want to move cabins after booking ? Thank you for all the great intel.

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  2 роки тому +1

      I'd not want to lead you wrong with any incorrect assumptions on my part (since if I've stayed on 14, it wasn't in an XL...as far as I recall), but I can tell you when we had 12334Z we didn't feel there was any compromise to privacy. Anytime we've had an XL Sea Terrace we've been able to see the bridge wing if looking for it, but the dividers between the rooms make it harder to see in. Some of the rooms a bit farther forward, and/or those on deck 8 (some of which have more unusual shapes to the verandah) may be a different story.
      Now, changing is generally pretty easy as long is there is availability, and you're not changing category. If you booked with an agent just send them a message and they can easily handle this. If you booked direct, give Virgin a call and they can move this for you. If you want this option though, act quick to make sure there is still availability.

      It seems many were fitted with hammocks, but some (at most 38, by my research) still remain without hammocks due to location/build/shape constraints.

    Is smoking allowed on balcony? Is there any open spaces where smoking is allowed inside the ship? Hope the answer is no, to both. Also, what’s the Covid vac policy? Thank you.

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  2 роки тому +1

      Smoking NOT permitted on balconies. There is one outdoor smoking area on one side of a high deck (so you never have to pass it or go near it all all).
      Currently at least 90% of guests must be vaccinated. All crew are vaccinated and boosted.

    • @GLD-hopeful

      @@CruiseHabit is there an open casino with smoking section inside it? That's the norm on most cruise ships in the cigarette smoke knows No boundaries it filters all through the interior of the ship and I can't even leave my cabin at night. Terrible migraine trigger for me.

    • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  2 роки тому +1

      @@GLD-hopeful The only indoor smoking is in a separate room with a separate ventilation system. It also has two doors (creating an airlock). • @CruiseHabit
      @CruiseHabit  Рік тому

      For us it all depends on the price difference. When we can do an XL for a couple hundred more we go for it. More than that and we're find in a standard Sea Terrace. In the end, we'd be happy with pretty much any accommodations as long as we're sailing :-)
