I'm not sure what it is, but a flatbed on a 6.5’ bed always makes it look Shorter than it really is.
Graham Clarence I notice that too, think it may be the crew cab distorting the looks or something.
Graham Clarence I don't like srw truck with beds. Dually is better
I always think the same. Mr. Truck should call the Sheriff to help locate the other 1.5' of his truck...
@@sportsman1776 I agree short beds are lame .I feel pretty stupid having a short bed on my mega cab dually Ram. But I really wanted that Megacab. In retrospect should have got the crew cab with the 8-foot bed.
Oklahoma proud!!
Heck Yeah! Right here in Madill Oklahoma. Hope the time here was great! Mr.Truck your truck looks way better than before. Excellent upgrade!
Thanks, didn't have time to stop in Edmond where my sisters live
Wow a really cool transformation video was cool to watch and see the process.
Thanks
That's a beautiful bed thanks for the video
Thanks
Finally, you guys filmed a segment in good ol' Oklahoma! Lol.
Wow look at the CM truck beds dually rig!
Wow a really cool transformation video, was cool to watch and see the process. I'd love to have a nice diesel in the future. But at the same time I don't need all the towing power and the cost is more to buy over a gasser.
Very nice, like the chicken lights
Saw your rig last weekend in st. Elmo!
It looks great 👍
Nice
Mr. Truck, that is an absolutely beautiful bed! Makes me wonder what my 93 F-Series would look like with one. Fantastic, man!
I'm a fan too. It will look the same 30 years from now and only weighted 80 lbs more than the factory bed, big surprise
In my opinion you should have a dully if you will have a flat bed
Looks a bit weird but I get having the flat bed if you plan on having a goose neck trailer or travel trailer just less risk of doing damage
Like the new look
Wow, aluminum you lucky dog! We did this up north with an old V10 Dodge with a welder on it, but it was steel and was way too heavy. It felt like I was pulling it out with the bobcat on every darn job site haha.
I was surprised when the new aluminum CM bed only weighed 80 lbs more
Be better if the truck were a dually
I love a flatbed. The bedrail on trucks now is ridiculously high.
I guess its cool and all but I wouldn't want it if it were free unless the bed I had were so rusted out that it couldn't be used anymore. My previous Silverado's bed was almost in that condition though. If it had some storage underneath like when you put a bed cover on a regular truck bed, then I see how it can be quite usefull. Now you can only haul large bulky items that must be tied down or they will fall off. I like having sides and a tailgate but thats just me. I can see the commercial application if the truck were only going to be used for that(or only for towing, never hauling) but for everyday use a normal bed would seem to be more versatile. It does make it easier to hitch up a 5th wheel trailer I'm sure.
short box.... nice.... really hauling now
Very nice.
Looks nice Mr.Truck
Thanks
The truck looks like ass with a flat bed. Looked way better before. Plus you can't just throw something in the back anymore.
You know boys, I just love trucks.
great!!
I was hoping to see the structure under the flatbed and how it attaches to the truck frame - that was mentioned (including the use of "uprights") but unfortunately not shown.
I just got a Norstar SD and love it damn thing weigh 1790 pounds though
Nice would look real good with some after market wheels that have some offset
thumbs up for Oklahoma
God i love mr. truck!
The boys in Oklahoma roll their joints all wrong .
Flat beds for the win
Mr. Truck, the new look, looks good on you!
Thanks
MrTruckTV truck looks good in person too!
Yeah, did I see you at Walmart?
MrTruckTV that would be me and the family
Cool, I live at Walmart
Sorry Kent but I don't like what you did to your truck . It doesn't seem to fit the profile of a crew cab 6.5 box.
Hey guys only one problem with all the different truck bed manufacturers I've seen is the under bed storage box's don't incorporate the tail lights and front corner lights into the storage box....would it not help protect your wireing and give a bigger box
1:15 cameraman: Kent your truck is naked
what was ur mpg with the mesh tailgate
Any wind noise from headache rack?
This guy is right across the street from me in brighton
Chris Biggs lets hang out im his son in law
I work at ready mixed concrete
But live in Evans
With steel support and aluminum bed; how did they provide isolation or prevention of galvanic corrosion? Do you think it is sufficient?
It is isolated. Can't remember if it's malor tape or washers
Jordan Harkness nhy
We will be testing this bed long term. We will let you know how it handles corrosion over time.
@@MrTruckTV Presumably that was supposed to be "Mylar" tape, which is brand of stretched polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film.
I want a flatbed but don't know how it will look on a 6inch lifted 03 dodge long box diesel. I like my bed. But flatbed would be better for what I do. I'm at a crossroad
How beneficial is the air suspension? I see the leveling benefits; how about the ride?
Yes, brakeing is better, cornering is better. Imagine the truck is at the same load height empty and loaded.
3:07: Bottom left of screen: "www."
No hole for the backup camera! I'm gonna get one, but I think the Hillsboro is more in line with what I want. Just wish I could find a dealer closer to me in Austin... the Amarillo dealer can't manage to do an email?!
nice ball but what about 5th wheel
It looks awesome Kent by the way I didn't recognize you at first lol you shave the ole mustache
Yes, I have a C-pap machine for breathing while I sleep. The hair up the nasal tubes was bugging me, I may grow it back
MrTruckTV I sleep with a cpap also I totally understand sir
Should I go pick-up bed delete or cab and chassis if I want to install a flatbed like this?
Either works, but more beds are available for straight-rail chassis-cab trucks than for pickups with their differently shaped frames. Note that suspensions are usually different between pickups and chassis-cabs of the same nominal series.
Do yall sell beds for a 1990 gmc sierra 2500
What do you do with the cover for the 5th wheel hitch, does it have a rack somewhere to store it? How large are the storage boxes on yours?
jedironin380 the 5th wheel.cover just moves on hinges.
It is attached by a hinge, and just sits on top of the deck beside the opening, held by hinge wire, while the ball is in use. And it's a ball hitch, not a fifth-wheel.
At 2:14, why did the installer drill into the frame?
Kent looks a bit trimmed up
duggydo Yeah. It's kinda weird to see him like that. I think the full beard and Akubra hat fit him better than the baseball hat and goat.
It needs bigger tires
Is a aluminum flatbed better than a steel bed?
Pros and cons plz.
Juan Carlos Gonzales
Pros
-aluminum weighs less
-won’t ever rust
Cons
-easier to dent
-more expensive
gotta love the 6.2... cant wait for the new 7.0
7.0 ???
What?
yeah look it up!!!
look it up lol
mario dont believe everything you read on the internet.
Everyone is bias in some Manor. Besides just cause Mr. Truck likes it doesn't me you will either. If you don't like the way they run their channel, don't watch it. That's the great thing about this country. You have that freedom.
Do they only sell the aluminum one bare or can you get it in black?
They sell lots of steel in black and white
Please don’t put Truck Nutz on that nice truck.
Bill S
I took them off for now
U have all these cools ass trucks but i never see you using them as trucks
It would look nicer with the 8 foot bed, looks a bit weird on the 6.5 bed
other account
He has a crew cab, if you didn't notice. These trucks with a 8 foot bed are ridiculously too long and are cumbersome to park or maneuver through small streets.
Okie Rider If you don't know how to drive they are. Been driving a 4 door long bed Sense I was 16 no Problems
Wow, nice beds! My favorite would be the last one that rolled by on CM's truck. It looks more ' truck like' to me at least.
My dad just bought this exact bed for his new 2018 Ford F350 and paid 7500 for the bed and the TIG welds all look like shit. Porosity and cracks in almost all the welds.
At 2:13 a worker is using a drill to go through the steel frame. I understand that this will degrade the temper of the steel and the hole may be a place where cracks can start. Two seconds later someone is using a torch, why not punch through the steel with the torch? Isn't that the correct procedure? Anyone out there who is an expert, please correct me if I am wrong.
Cutting with a torch would be worse for the frame than drilling it.
Beautiful bed!
How much higher are you having to raise a gooseneck to get over the back of the bed for hooking and unhooking? The 2 flatbeds I've had over the years were 8' and needed the trailer jacked up another 6" at the hitch.
What's state is that accent from?
Joe Lewis at www. Can't forget that url I guess.
Well, to me that ball is somewhat high! That means the front of the trailer is higher than the back, I would have left the original steel assembly mounted to the frame. Aluminium sure looks real purty but for strength and safety you can't beat steel. Why do you think the big rigs use steel and mount the fifth wheel to the frame? Been like that forever!
They don't build the Abrams main battle tank from aluminium!
Gooseneck trailers normally have substantial height adjustment for the coupler, to accommodate the wide range of ball heights. In this case the ball is recessed in a well below the deck level, so it isn't unreasonably high compared to being above the floor of the stock box.
Steel is used rather than aluminum mostly for lower cost, rather than higher strength.
Tank construction is much more about resistance to damage from munitions, rather than optimal strength to weight relationship.
Never put a bed on srw it looks weird plus on a dually it looks right
Most important part of a work truck is looking good, amirite?
Alan Bowers 9 times out of yup
I worked for a Canadian oil field company years back. All trucks were 4 door 1 tons srw 9 foot flat beds. I always ask why srw, they said you will see. Took those trucks everywhere, dually wouldnt have stood a chance. Duallys are for highway only.
Mike West true but I just looks strange
@@mikewest712 I disagree, should have seen my dually back a loaded dump trailer full of gravel up into a tight spot. Extra tires means extra traction.
I wish my entire truck body and frame was unpainted aluminum.
What do you do with the old bed?
You sell it. Lots of people are looking for good rust-free truck beds.
Sold it in one day on Craigslist
MrTruckTV good ole Craigslist! 👍🏻
I liked it better before...
Oklahommmmmmma
Sorry but 6.5 and SRW just don’t look right and it’s just how I feel. Now growing up on a hay farm in Texas a short flat bed is extra trips to off load where you can get a lot more bails on a long bed plus less trips to barn is more productive in my book. But who dose that now day with bailers that send them right on to a trailer
its such a shame for me i have a 2004 Ford Ranger and i want an aluminum bed but i want a bed with sides and a tailgate so i don't lose the lines of the truck or the functionality...
Why doesn’t mr. Truck have a diesel?
My last truck was a diesel. I only tow 12,000 lb of trailer now, so the extra $10,000 for a diesel didn't make since.
I can't believe he traded this for a new F-150. Guess he didn't REALLY need all this "utility" he talked about on his farm.
Why would you turn a perfectly good pick up into this..... THING?
I've got a 2018 F250 FX4 and I can't even see into the bed... *that's* why you do this.
Dont buy one for a 2016 ram head ache bar sits 4 inches over cab
A flatbed looks weird on a single wheel truck
A manly man's truck.
Should of went with Black that aluminum is ugly as hell. It’s defintely practical mod
I'm a guy and I wish I could marry Mr truck
I don't like new version
Now the offset in the rear is wrong
Allen Borlado wrong for what? Looks?
I don’t like flat beds.
It's all for purpose.
What a bummer having such a short bed and then making it out of aluminum. No weight in the back that truck rides like shit
It's about the same weight as the stock pickup box.
Unfortunately the cm beds are a knock off of a J&I bed. Cm copied the J&I several years ago & have really pushed mass marketing & mass production. J&I produces fewer beds, but build quality is superior.
Is that a GAS Powered Truck ?
yep
I'm surprised that it is Gas. He is a big supporter of Diesel when towing .
I think its just a cheap farm truck.
That is an awful expensive addition for the application ?
vaccumme No
Buy a damn diesel already!
And how much discount did mr Truck get?
You guys need to notify us (in general, just not this video) when something is sponsored according to youtube rules.
You guys aren't unbiased, you choose to show stuff that is thrown at you.
pelleper Who cares?
I thought TFL has acknowledged an ongoing sponsorship with CM Trailers (which, isnt that the same company as CM Truck Beds?). They announce it almost every time they do a towing test.
Scott Truskowski They could get in trouble for not following laws requiring them to do so
They have to state in every video if it was sponsored per YT rules.
Because if they don't, they are biased.
Do you get your ford reviews from ford themselves? Off course it the best truck out there according to them (not saying it's a bad truck, it's just an example).
Reviewers must be unbiased and tell us what is sponsored on their channel.
Wow I’m early af
Lol below Joe Lewis is just said, WWW.
Are you serious a ford????
Enmanuel Alcantara That's right dumbass.
Mr. Truck knows best :)
People with fords just don’t have a fully functional brains
Please proofread your last statement Mr. intelligence.
