I met this guy as a fifth grader in 1995 during a CBA basketball camp in Lincroft. Thats Christian Brothers Academy. Ill never forget the layup drill he taught us. His statistics are really cool to me because he was in the league for 9 or 10 years, thats a really long time, and his best numbers were his second to last season. The epitome of a guy who got there and stayed there solely based on work ethic, in my opinion.
I played hoops at CBA w him. I was a senior when he was a freshman. Good guy. He was 3x All-State, McDonalds n Parade All-American, All time season and career assists leader at Virginia. Best player to come out of CBA, smart, skilled, leader. Most guys that last over a decade in the NBA have a whole bunch of things they are fairly good at that allow them to earn their place among the greatest to play the game. The thing I remember most about his game was he was in control, riding the surfboard, a master amongst neophytes, who rarely turned the ball over. When he had the ball you could see few could seem to ever take it…. Thinks he’s calling the Heat now on their network and selling commercial real estate in Miami. ✌🏼👊🏻✨
John Crotty >>> Allen Iverson Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz Box Score, December 29, 2001 : 81-89 John Crotty : 17 pts, 4 rbds, 4 ast, 6/9 shooting, 1 TO Allen Iverson : 21 pts, 3 rbds, 5 ast, 7/25 shooting, 4 TO CQFD :P
Haha he was pretty much a bench player similar to Scalabrine back in the 90s. I just think his name is really funny and the fact that the Philly fans were chanting his name was hilarious
He completely used nothing but his left hand when he drove to the basket, that's what makes it better. He didn't even jump high either. Just threw an easy layup. It's all about timing and seeing an opening. That's what the old school guys like Crotty did.

‘A master amongst neophytes’ - that’s an awesome description.
I would love to be this guy's friend. Everywhere I go I could threaten people by saying, "Watch it, buddy - I know Crotty!
