  • Hello everyone!
    I got this question asked quite a lot, what training is the best? Wich scuba school to choose?
    There is no training better than another, I truly belive that the teacher makes the quality of the training, not the school.
    However the person that you are can be attracted to a school etics or way of learning more than another. That's why I wanted to present you 3 scuba school that I know :)
    Tell me what is the one you chose in the comments!

    As a PADI DM, I’ve dived with NAUI, SSI and BSAC amongst others with no issue. There is always differing opinions between agencies, like SSI state max accent rate is 9m per minute but PADI state 18m per minute.
    The founder of PADI was originally a NAUI guy so NAUI divers believe they are better but the truth is that with whichever agency you go with you’ll take a different route to get to the same place. PADI started to make beginner diving easier to attract more people to the sport (for business purposes too), which is partly why they have overtook everyone else in recreational diving market.
    Being certified in any school at any level does not make you a great diver, only experience and training over time makes you a good diver. 👌

    PADI is a money pit. All you need is open water in order to do commercial or navy diving. As I said they are out to make money out of people.
    PADI don't recognise any other institution certifications. I am former Royal Navy clearance diver, and PADI and BSAC diving organisations.

    Selling Mares equipment is not really a mandatory just depends on the dive center you work with.

    Is padi and Ssi cost of the course about the same? If you have the padi certification is it reognisale as experience of your dive log to the ssi log?

    • @CrazyDivers
      @CrazyDivers  4 роки тому

      The price of the course might depends of the place you train, but SSI is generally cheaper than Padi for the DM course alone.
      Padi and SSi are generally recognized pretty well around the world. I would encourage you to check on their website/app their patnered dive centers before planing your trips

    I didn't know some certification can be not acceptable in certain countries. I have RAID certification so the French schools would probably even question my existence lol

  • @ivanfoong1498

    The duration to get certified as a PADI DM is not necessarily within 1 month. It's purely based on performance requirements and if the candidate is able to meet and master them then they are able to be certified. With this said, different dive operators and centers may sell their packages differently. Some within a month, some within weeks and some maybe much longer. And should the candidate require more time than stipulated, additional time would have to be added. It all depends on the dive center/instructor offering the course and also the performance of the candidate. In fact I've came across SSI dive centers offering courses from zero to hero (Open Water diver to Instructor) within 1 month. But I've also seen dive centers from various agencies (PADI/SSI/SDI/RAID etc) that produce quality students and professionals both skills and dive science/theoretical knowledge. So my say choose your dive center/instructor wisely. Not purely based on the training agency they're with.

    From what I saw, SSI is often cheaper than PADI, but not recognized everywhere. I like to be an SSI, FFESSM and FQAS one to be able free diving in France, Quebec and many other countries.

      Padi is currently getting its market share eaten by other organisation
      the easiest way to find out is check the latest reports of the numbers of licenses they issued last year
      yes exactly you wont find any reports as they stopped providing it for couple of years now

    how about CMAS in France?

    • @CrazyDivers
      @CrazyDivers  7 років тому +1

      HelLo Martin! I've never been working with CMAS in France, but I have a couple of friends who did, if you have specific question they'll be happy to answer it for you.
      During my divemaster training, I worked with a german CMAS instructor. He needed me to play the 'dead body' in a Rescue course. I found it to be super complete, and maybe more in depth than what EFR and Padi/SSI provide.. So on this part I can tell you that I learned a lot from CMAS.
      Maybe it was just the way the instructor teached it, but I think CMAS is more practice focus than Theory focused...
      On a personal point of view, I am a scientist and love studying the theory, so I would *maybe* be desapointed on this side, who knows? I think the way your instructor will train you is more important than the school you choose ;)

    • @ludovicferras5932
      @ludovicferras5932 7 років тому +2

      Hi Martin
      French diving federation (FFESSM) is a founding member of CMAS, ie. when you get a French certification you automatically get a CMAS one, usually recognized all over the world. The other side of the deal is that there is no CMAS straight training in France, as these are provided by French diving associations (FFESSM , ANMP, FGTS).
      Basically you have 2 world diving families:
      - World Recreational Scuba Training Council (WRSTC) = PADI SSI ... Profit oriented diving training agencies, for recreational dives without deco, max depth 40 meters
      - CMAS, regrouping a wider scope of national federations & others diving agencies ( IANTD / SDI-TDI ...) for a wider scope of underwater activities (deco, tech dive, Freediving, ....)
      Hope this help

      It costs £20 in the UK, it’s just an admin fee. Hardly breaking the bank. Having said that, I didn’t bother with master scuba diver C card and just did my DMC (dive master certificate)

    The big difference in the French federation is that the teachers are 95% volunteers (work for free, no business here), for all inner clubs, except for the clubs at sea where there is some business. It means that you cannot « buy » your certification, you have to deserve it !

      Yes you do need to give your name in order to get certification cards. That way ppl now what your level of scuba diving is. It is a bit like a d(r)iving licence :)
