I will definitely be picking up one of these. I’ve held off on the EDC29 because I wanted the smaller form factor of the 23. However, the two biggest drawbacks of this flashlight: 1) the IP54 rating, which is not sufficient for an EDC light. I understand from the clamshell design why it’s difficult to waterproof the light, but they really need at least an IPx6 if not IPx7 rating. 2) the pocket clip kinda sucks. It needs to be deeper carry, and bidirectional so you can clip it onto a hat. If they fixed these two things, it would be my ultimate EDC light, provided it proves to be reliable.
Replace the clip with the benchmade deep carry pocket clip or use the Streamlight Wedge pocket clip, then you will have a short deep carry pocket clip the EDC 23
Cant do it on the 23 and the 29 like you can with the 27, and 25. The 23 and 29 have a molded piece around the pocket clip while the 27, and 25 have a plastic piece that will come off of the light.
Based on the user manual it looks like you cannot customise the function of the Mode button (so it will always be: half press for Turbo, full press for Strobe). This would be a deal breaker for a lot of people, myself included. I've just ordered the EDC29 actually and then I saw the EDC23 was just released and thought damn, a smaller one would've been nicer. But that Mode button function is important! Also would like to see deep(er) carry clips on these lights. But the functionality of the 29 tips the scales I think
If the light is in your left pocket and if the lockout switch was to be reversed, you would most likely still unlock it when you pull your hand out of the pocket.
Im excited about that one. Except.. for the NOT DEEP / NOT DISCRET CARRY 😅🎉 not to mention yeah, 90% of the planet tends to be right hand / left pocket for light and the strobe should be right on the left thumb accessible ready. But hey.. its shorter now 😅

I don't know why the Chinese light manufacturers struggle with pocket clips as much as they do, not just Nitecore, all of them. They will build a damn near perfect light and then install some tragically bad pocket clip. Do Chinese not use pocket clips? I don't get it.
Because the pocket clip was originally put into a hole to keep it in place and then screwed to be tightened up, try not to put it into the hole but just screw the screws.

I’ve been carrying the 29 since it came out. My only complaint was it’s not deep enough in my pocket. Kinda piss cuz I wish I would have seen the smaller one.
It’s got too much going on. Keep it simple stupid. That’s what was cool about the wedge (toggle switch is lame tho). It can’t be that hard to make a tube light flat
This light is freaking awesome, but the clip is stupid. It sticks out way too much. They need to make deep carry clips for it. And a better water proof rating would have been really good. And one very low lumen moonlight mode would have been nice. Other than that, it's a great light!

I agree the ip54 rating is not meant for outdoor use in the rain. A splash of water is acceptable but nothing.

Agree the clip is terrible, the light itself is nice, I wish I could replace the clip with a different one

I found if u disassembled the pocket first and reassemble it in some sort of way,and it became almost a deep pocket clip.

that's simply not true. If you're talking about downregulation, all brands do this to avoid overheating.
