When Kiernan dropped the goal we were screaming like banshees in our front room. We never missed an Ireland game. Its not the same now with Dad gone no one shouting at TV like they could hear him. Thanks for the memories.
Obviously an old post but great memories. Fred Cogley was the commentator. Was 6 years old at the time and fell in love with sport in general that day!
Oh the memories. Was (a little drunk, at the time) in a pub on Eyre Square in Galway, with some Galwegian U20 team mates, watching Kiernan's drop goal. We'd been in Sligo a few weeks before for the welsh game.
Watched it at home.. We were in the kitchen with the telly on roaring them on.. Had to nip up for a few pints after it.. Saturday afternoon 85.. I was 23.. Pity Brian Spillane disappeared off the scene after that.. Think he was a doctor ( a 1st cousin of Pat Spillane)... Poor Nigel Carr never really recovered from that dispicable bomb by the cowardly bastards the IRA
