- Rewind to 2004 for a Guinness Six Nations classic between Ireland and England. England, fresh from their 2003 World Cup victory, faced down an Ireland side featuring the likes of Ronan O'Gara, Brian O'Driscoll and, that year's player of the tournament, Gordon D'Arcy. #teamofus

I remember a prime Gordon Darcy ...what a talent.
Let's not forget popplewell some player he was use to run on is knees Neil england👍
Stringer tap tackle never gets old
Was a high tackle in today's laws, would have been a yellow card. Bunker review for red
Crist some of them irish players were like raging bulls you can see even back then how bloody good thay were becoming Neil england👍
Totally incomparable to Ireland of today. We have grown so much since then.
More so that the sport has grown so much since then. The game now is so much more complicated and technical to play.
I actually think this Ireland team was better than the current one
Hard to compare we have old favourites but in fairness we have some good lads coming on its great can't wait for Saturday enjoy d game everyone 🇮🇪❤
We have grown a lot but are world cup record is sadly still very poor unfortunately. At this point it's quite embarrassing we haven't made past quarter finals I mean they really should
Nonsense@@Baz502
What sort of Black Magic is this? Where is the blaring pop music at every break in play? How can anyone enjoy a game of rugby if it isnt also a giant outdoor disco? I dont understand it,
What are you talking about ?
It was 20 years ago. Cop on. The music in stadiums only started in recent years
He was being sarcastic, I'd say. I have never been to a live match with that hideous music and have no desire to.@@fionnmcloughlin4349
@@fionnmcloughlin4349 read it again. This time with a sarcastic tone of voice
Yes. I LOATHE that 'music' blaring at every break in play.
WOT WAS THE SCORE ???????
No scoreboard. No commentary.
Ya would be better with commentary
A reminder of how prime Gordon D'Arcy was an incredible 12.
Agree
The scoreboard would've been nice
It’s difficult nowadays to articulate how big this win was. England was more or less unbeatable for 5 years at home and it was their first home game after winning a World Cup. Moreover, Ireland were easily beaten by France and had been mauled by England in Lansdowne Road the previous year.
Was that that year Martin Johnson wouldn't move his team after standing on the wrong side? Never forgave him
@@goodsirknight yes ‘03 when England won the Slam before the World Cup
@@UlyssesRyan-n1i they were good.
Hard to believe this is in Twickenham with the noise of the Irish fans
Croke Park?
That Ireland team try Was outstanding
The Golden Generation that turned the corner of Irish rugby and set the seeds of the team from 2018 onwards that now dominates NH rugby.
sliding tackle to attempt to stop Ireland's try wouldn't have been out of place in a football match
That was almost good defense, Boks don't have the skills to do that
Fair play to Woodward gracious in defeat
As has been said Gordan D'Arcy was brilliant on every old match I watched head and shoulders above all other players including odriscoll very underrated.
He wasn't better than Brian but certainly was a fantastic player and they complimented each other well
That was so fricking sweet I watched it in a pub in Brighton in my Ireland jersey. . I was the only Irish guy in there 😊
How weird is this? Waiting for a flight from Hanoi to Laos and I’m watching the highlights of Englands defeat after the World Cup victory. I was at the match and goodness me, that was 20 years ago!!!
Another thrashing due on Saturday….I read this morning that England are having passing and catching practice !!
Jesus Christ …most of them been playing for 15 or more years and they need practice !
Tells you everything
My favourite post....
I'm sorry but it's awful editing, time line all over the place. And no commentary is a pity.
That Dempsey try - could watch it over and over again - a thing of beauty, with virtually the whole team involved in the move
Your chariot is swinging low now
At least we have a chariot.
Or forever quarter finalists beat world champions.
Great game O'Gara masterclass in kicking
Guess what, this weekend another Ireland victory at "fortress twickers" coming up. On present form, Ireland will win by at least 10 points.
Its a 6 nations game irl wont fall into dat trap they should but it wont be easy
Did Jason Robinson play much at centre? Always remember him as a fullback or wing.
Sir Clive tried him at 13. The idea was to add more speed to the backline, but I don't think it was a great success. Sir Clive fell out with the 57 old farts and left.
Watched it In Melbourne backpacking around Australia! Can’t believe it was 20 years ago
And day u beat England is a good day😂❤
England were finished as an elite team after 2003 wc. Never as good again….without Jono.
No score or time on the screen spoils it
Yes. Also editing too choppy.
aaaggg no score on the screen at top ...waht a pain for such a great game
Classic indeedy, highlights, not so much. Dog rough edit
The Irish were true monsters in this match ❤🏆🏉
No scores anywhere. No idea what was happening
Thanks for posting
great memories
Now they can't stun anyone - the Rugby World Cup still awaits
Our day will come. The future looks promising. The defeat to NZ last time hurt like hell, but a very different type of pain compared to the past, when we would crash out hopelessly.
Original 🙄
@@simonmoore3546 Cheers
Brian O' Driscoll's line break at 5:02. The reason he will always be Ireland greatest player. Different class.
That was D'Arcy
Gordon Darcy.
That’s a weird looking O’driscoll, might not even be him
I am guessing this comment will be deleted soon lol
That's Gordon D'Arcy how very well dare you
Seems Irish rugby forgot to add "Ireland stun greatest ever world champions " No rwc winning side has ever matched this 2003 team
Couldn't agree more, SA NZ Aus got nothing on this 2003 side
I assume this is sarcasm!
That's a massive exaggeration. They were fortunate they didn't play the All Blacks in the final in 2003. England has never had the pedigree in terms of winning that New Zealand or South Africa have over them. Ireland seems to be the dominant team (Northern Hemisphere) over England for quite some time now and that doesn't look like it will change much in the near future.
@markgasparini6577 England had the toughest route to a world cup. Had to travel 10 hours per flight to a match and still won
@Daz442 Completely agree, no team has had a tougher route to a world cup win than England's 2003 winning side. Makes SA's 2023 route look like a cakewalk in comparison
England the world champions, a beautiful few words
Bit like the ice-cream I had there last week isn't it? Fucking irrelevant now
Irish Rugby acknowledged England as world champions mate
@itachitsukuyomidcuo9853 2003 rwc will always be relevant. But 2023 and all the others aren't relevant, only 2003 is
England never beat Ireland while they were world champions 😮
@@riseprojectgorey that's a downright lie or apparently not...
Infinitely more enjoyable than listening to the incessant and inane warblings of the Vile Nugent.
I think that the Irish commentator was Jim Sherwin..
relieved to know that others know and that most others don't, is sad. Ruined many a moment with his off-key remarks
Nugent was the voice of 2006. A great commentator. Go back to soccer lad. We don’t need your support.
Now D'Arcy rambles on during key moments 😂
Ref had a shocker this day, England were unlucky
Time to let go Daz😂
England were certainly hard done by, the most painful defeat England have suffered due to ref
Don't forget the hand of God lol
@@KMKM.S94 Ah I forgot, England sent out their B team that day
If they did they saw their team get hosed in front of a full house in front of their own fans. It would make them dumb.
