The Folkston Funnel and the Florida East Coast: BEAUTIFUL Florida Railfanning, NCT Southbound EP3

- It's Day 3, February 6, 2024, and I'm in Folkston, GA. After the southbound Amtrak auto train and both Amtrak silver service trains in Folkston, we head south into Florida, grabbing a couple of CSX trains in the "funnel". Our next stop is Sunbeam in Jacksonville, FL, at the south end of the Florida East Coast Railway's Bowden Yard. FEC train 105 blasts off for Miami before we head to St Augstine, where we catch a late FEC 202 and an INSANE GP40-2 duo on FEC rock local 905. FEC 430 "Veterans" and FEC 425 "Race for the Cure". We finish the day by checking out the Ponce de Leon lighthouse near Port Orange, FL.

Yeah, and whether you want that tan or not! It's uncanny, but that Florida sun penetrates just about everywhere, even in the shade!
Thanks for bringing us along Harrison, especially for the look at the Florida East Coast! It's good to see they've got something besides that austere solid blue paint scheme on the locomotives. Love that classic First Generation diesel scheme (Even on the LNG tender!) and those two other colorful units! Good to see!
