I’ve been a nurse in the medical field for 50 years. In the last couple of decades I have been lax on mammograms and Pap smears because I’m thinking what am I gonna do if something comes up. Am I going to go for treatment or am I going to succumb. Your situation is giving me new light. I will go for a mammogram and Pap smear this year. I love you Kat,,, your situation has moved me to make a reasonably sensible decision to take care of myself for as long as I can on this earth and be the best witness I can for the Lord Jesus Christ in taking care of my body that he’s given me. Thank you Kat
And that is the good that has come out of this journey and why I promised my doctor I'd be a witness. Makes my self inflicted journey worth while. You brought tears to my eyes. Happy tears.💕
As a nurse I have personally inserted those radiation pellets. Kat, I am so sorry that you had such a horrible experience with this. I just don’t know what I would do in your situation. I really do not know what decision I would make in your situation. But I’m thinking and considering your testimony as I go forth. Thank you for speaking out❤
It all ended on a good note. Through this whole cancer journey I was blessed with best case scenario. Little Blessings just sprinkled on me daily. And daily I counted those Blessings and still do today.
You brought tears to my eyes. I canceled my pap smear a few months ago. I'm so old I figured why? I'm 60. I've been praying for you for a long time. So happy you are okay.... I WILL get a pap done now. God bless you n God bless your friends n sister.❤
Me again. Thank you for sharing your story. I’m so glad you are doing so good. And keep sharing it so women will understand more about HPV and cervical cancer. Keeping you in my prayers. 💝 xoxo💝
Good to see you again. You're right, this is a message that needs to be shared. I promised my doctors I'd be a witness and it's now my mission. Thank you for sharing your wise words.
Hun, you are a trooper and the strength you had that pulled you through this was definitely first of all from God and then the loving support of Pam, Mary, and your sister (your angels) and the gentle care and compassion from health care professionals! You are loved Kat!!! It warms my heart to know so many subscribers where there in time of need financially lifting some of the burden and genuinely were kind, concerned and cared for you and your well-being. Just listening to your video their acts of kindness to you did not go unnoticed!! God is Good! God bless you Kat, love you
OMG!! It's soo good to see and hear from YOU! You can really kick some ass! You're 1,000 times braver than I could ever be. Thank you for the update. Rock on!
It's great to be back! There is no bravery without fear. I was plenty scared, didn't think I could do it. Could I have done it without all the support and love I received? I'll never know.🤗
So glad meds were corrected and you finished treatment! I just left Quartzite Saturday and back in Washington.. hopefully we can meet up somewhere along the way!
It's great to be back! It's a message I'm passionate about. Getting women back into the pap smear mode is such an easy prevention. It's now my responsibility to share. But on the occasion when cervical cancer does take hold we need to know that we can get through the treatments. If chicken me can do it, we all can. It's not easy but it's worth the results. Us senior gals have a lot of living left to enjoy.
I'm so very happy you've made it through such a harrowing experience!! Mary is a superstar when it comes to helping other people. She's one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever met. I think most of us of a certain age before there was the HPV vaccine carry it in our system. I know I do and I didn't know that until just a few years ago. PLEASE, continue with regular physicals and screenings as recommended. They're covered by Medicare and so very important to get early detections for whatever might be showing up. Us older gals still have a LOT of living and adventures to do!! Maybe I'll see you and Mary out on the road this winter somewhere. Lunch will be on me. I'm hoping I'll be finally heading out by the end of this week. Fingers crossed.
Thank you Mary for your wise words. I couldn't agree more with your opinion of Mary. She is the best. I adore her. We definitely have to meet. The 3 of us over lunch sounds fun.
I"m so glad you finally got a video up! I remember at the start of all this, you said, "I'm not strong enough to do it!" Not that you didn't want to do it, just that you were so scared. I knew you could do it, and you did! All it took was an arm around your shoulder. I'm very blessed to have been through this with you, to see your strength through all of it. You are a great example to me, sister!
Oh Mary, you were my strength. You brought it out of me when I didn't know it was there. Because of you I was able to find bravery in my fear. You were my rock! And the best health advocate ever! I love you!
I'm a newer subscriber and didn't know the details until now. No words can come close to offer comfort of what you went through.❤ When I found out it was cervical cancer it hit home for me. When I was 30 I had HORRIBLE painful periods and in the bathroom felt like I passed a plum. I was scared to get a pap smear, but I knew it needed to be done. Later found I had endometriosis and had surgery. I was able to keep my ovaries so no hormone replacement needed. Since then have been fine with no pain. If anyone is afraid to get a pap smear, it can feel awkward but its not bad. Best thing for me was getting a female doctor and have her explain everything before the exam. It's not painful, just a little awkward but very worth it.
Welcome to our little community. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Love your story and message! It needs to be spred. I was healthy and didn't think pap smears were necessary. Boy was I wrong. Now I'm a check up advocate. We may be seniors but we have a lot of living left to do. Pap smears may be awkward but that's nothing in the scheme of things. Thanks again for sharing.
Kat you are looking so good I am sure you've beaten cancer. It's time I have a pap smear. It's been about 6 years but you've talked me into it. I'm really hoping I get to Quartzite in the next 30 days and I really want to meet up. You're my favorite UA-camr. Thank God for Mary and her being strong for you when you needed it the most. She's my my second favorite UA-camr now and I hope to meet her too. Sending you Love and Prayers to get your strength back and a full recovery 😊
