This is 12 v 5 Amp battery charger do not charge low amp batteries with this your battery will explode you can charge more then 5 Amp batteries with this charger but,will take long time as compare to low amp batteries.

It is true that charging a 12 volt battery needs 14.0-14-4 volts, therefore I think that a limiting resistor would not only bring the voltage down to that but also protect the battery under charge. I am not a tech so I cannot tell what value of resitor is most suitable. All in all a good try though somewhat dangerous. Most important do not forget earthing (grounding for Yanks).

its basic. anyone building this should put a small heat sink in bridge. or just thermal grease to case with screw. A dc breaker would be great too. A amp meter volt meter great addition.
You should also show the output current !

Pls make 24 volt battery charger with charging control for 100ah to 150ah battery video as early as possible. Wait for your reply. Thanks for this 12v charger video.
Nice idea but for the following points:
1/ heatshrink used is too large
2/ bridge should be bolted to chassis
3/ mains cable needs to be properly clamped in plastic clamp designed for the purpose. As is, chafing is possible, and short to chassis danger exists.
4/ no need for capacitor. The type of battery this is designed for IS a big capacitor.
Suggestions :
1/ install a DC current meter so you can see when current stops flowing, indicating charged.
2/ a 9V or 10V secondary would be better. The rectified voltage wouldn't be as high as 19V. Leave this charger on a battery too long, you'll boil your battery.

only thing I would suggest is power button installed so ON is up and OFF is down, you have it reversed. Not a big thing, you were in a rush albeit video sped up during the assembly.

Please use a 10ohm 10w fuseble resistor series with the charger output for limitting the current flow.
if you put a limiting resister in the circuit ,the batteries will take far longer to charge and some may not charge at all depending on the type of battery being charged put the resistor in the bin, and you have a decent machine that you dont have to waite too long on the battery being charged,the resistor will just extend the time it takes to charge

you should have add voltage regulater with a 12"volt capacitor to make it voltage constant . so that it will not damage your divice with voltage spick.

Great idea. But this charger will bake your battery if you forget to stop charging on right time as this charger does not have auto cut off circuit.

Só faltou um resistor de 5 ohms em série pra limitar e proteger o carregador de uma simples pane na bateria....
The simplest way to ensure that a battery charger is never overloaded including shorting the output leads is to add a 12V car light bulb (s) of a suitable wattage. I used 2 x 60W (10A) bulbs in parallel on a 9A (yes it should be a 10A transformer). I have run it shorted out for an hour and nothing got too hot. I have a PC fan running in a vented case. Looks evil at night. You can also use different wattage bulbs to limit the current for smal er batteries. WARNING BULBS GET HOT. Nice simple video.

Why are you bothering with a smoothing capacitor? You're putting what's effectively a huge capacitor (a lead-acid battery) across the output anyway! My commercial battery charger for my car generates an unsmoothed full-wave rectified waveform (I checked with an oscilloscope) and does the job just fine. Save expense and soldering and miss out the capacitor.

Connect wires mechanically prior to soldering. Use the right size of heat shrink. The one you are using is too wide.

The transformer is small, the filter capacitor is for others, it is not necessary since the battery itself acts as if it were a capacitor ,,, and finally you have to limit the charging current, since if the transformer works at its Maximum amperage will be destroyed in question of hours or days with a lot of luck a week can last its useful life ,,,,,

I am from Indonesia, if I want to make battery carger for the inverter because it requires a large battery current, I have to make a carger who supply the current to the large battery how much ampere, travo I use for fast charging 12 v battery please
Amp = ampier per hour. If your bettery is 100 amp then a 10 amp charger will take 10 hour to full charge thuritically. Low amp and Long time charge is good for ur battery.
From where did you get the box
I have two 6V (4.5AH) batteries.I attached them in series with output of 12.30V. I want to charge them combined in series with 12V ( 2.5A) charger.

A 12-volt battery outputs 14 volts without any lifting or lowering circuits
This charger can charge 50 AH battery as thumb rule is 1/10th of battery current but lower Amperes battery require less current else they become overheat during charging so it's not suitable for batteries of 5 Ampere
