Just got the VTM the other day and I must thank everyone over at slate for all the hard work, it sounds great. I'm using the 1/2" to master reggae and its perfect. Thanks guys!!
Demoing it now. It sounds absolutely fantastic. I have recorded to Studer 24 track, Studer 16 track, and mixed down to 1/4 inch tape, all within the past few years, so it is all still pretty fresh. More recently, I have been using the UAD Studer A800 and Ampex ATR-102. All that being said, Slate VTM is fantastic and is blowing me away. It is modeling different machines than the UAD plugs, so even though I have the UAD stuff, I plan to get VTM in the near future. Sweet sounds. Thank you!
because any real engineer know that with out tape your mix is not gonna be about shhh. you would sound like every thin/dry lack luster mix that's out there. and also it is so many stories that people do say. That vst does not sound like the real hardware. So he prove the nay Sayers wrong and gave hope to people like me that takes mixing seriously so yea this shh is intense wtf 🤨
Now if people could just help us create digital tape in software, splicing, cutting, looping, all the bumps, skips, slurs, Wow-and-Flutter. U-He Satin is very woobly btw.
Howie is channeling Joe Pesci... LOL..."Funny how great that deck sounds, Howie." "Funny? Funny how? Like it's a clown? Like me and my Studer are here to amuse you?" LOL. FWIW, I'm old enough to have been a part of the age of tape. I have both of these plugs and they absolutely do what they've been modeled to do. I don't use them on EVERYTHING I do, but they're cool tools to have in the box. IMHO of course.
This is the weirdest I've ever seen even by his crazy standards, he doesn't even look at the camera, looks just straight at the teleprompter, he makes AI narrators look and sound human.
Its outdated. The t racks A 80 emulation is better. So is the uad. Uad is probably the best but t racks 6 comes with it as well as having some of the best real room reverb plugins ever.

The best VST tape machine I've heard!!!
Howie has mastered most of my favorite records. He's so cool.
I bought it. It's all true what they say in this video. Great piece of gear.
In the whole video he looks like he is starting to cry
goddamn right, killer plug-in too
He is so dedicated
He blinks at about 0:41 and again at 1:00, etc...
I'm having trouble accessing my passcode. Can you help me? Also do you need Slate mix to use this?
Still the best in 2023.
4 minutes...dude doesn't blink once
Why is this guy SO. FUCKING. INTENSE. ABOUT. TAPE SATURATION?!

2:39 He does a great Joe Pesci impression.
More Harlan Ellison-ish... but ya'know, not as angry. XD

Dude, BLINK already so I can (I'm trying to not blink so I can see IF you ever do)! 😨😂
