SU tubas are hands down the most technical tuba section in the game. Always impressed by the their execution.

That sousaphone section is doing it for me with this arrangement. .....really making me feel the groove of the song.
I'm from Bama State Fall 99, this IS a great arrangement. Love the chord progressions in the chorus. ASU version stick cranking and the best version I've heard

People (including me) so thought SU was going to come out the gates straight blowing with their larger numbers. Fooled us all didn't they. Not an SU fan but I have to give them credit from the few clips I've seen. They are currently a solid embodiment of power, style, and clarity of sound. There is some over playing (as with any form of "cranking") but this is an impressive start. Makes me wonder how everyone else is doing in comparison?

I like the idea of this arrangement , but here's the issue ... the counter melody needs to back off and let the melody be heard. Southern is all too famous for this in their arrangements sometimes... Tubas the bass like is a great touch but it was sloppy on the runs and not clean ... Over time this will get better. This is why people are saying it sounds busy... Otherwise good Chicago arrangement Southern. I prefer J.State arrangement because less is more in my eyes.

People who say the arrangement has too much going on but prefers J-State or Bama's version can't tell me shit because both of they're arrangement were dry and plain as hell. This arrangement is full, plenty of moving parts. And some people fail to realize that an arrangement doesn't have to sound exactly like the original song.. If that was the case then you would have all these bands playing the same shit.. An arrangement is about creativity and it's nice to see different approaches to a song.

Let me also add in looking at this clip that the arrangement is solid., but here's where these delusional su fans have me confused. This arrangement is "creative" I think we can all agree no matter what school you rep, so question su fans? Last yr yal were all over jsu's arrangement of Holy Grail sayen it was "too busy" , "to cluttered" , "does not sound like the song" etc, and yal arrangement was more sounding of the song so it was better, right? Fast forward this yr and both bands play Chicago jsu's version is more sounding of the song and su's arrangers put a twist on it, and all the sudden the same comments about jsu holy grail last yr are being made about su' s Chicago this yr. But yal say jsu's arrangement isn't better cause it sounds more like the song , but when

Well first of all, imo they both sound like the song. If you can't hear the actual song in both arrangements than you might want to get your ears checked. JSU had just as much shit added in their arrangement that isn't in the actual song as this one.. ex, the trombone break and the whole blowing session at the end of the song. SU's version has a different bassline and an added french horn part that's basically for color. It's a new year, why you still butthurt over something from last year anyway?
This has nothing to do with being butt hurt at all cause the juke got handle last yr. Now, I'll admit the boom does have extra snips added in there arrangement that's not in the song, but my argument is this and please read carefully cause I know how you su fans are quick to play the "ahhh he a hater", "he delusional" , and "ima twist his words up" type shit in yal arguments. What I'm sayen is a bands arrangement can be creative and different and still sound like the song. The reason why I went back to last yr... Is the holy grail arrangements were differentiated the boom focused on technicality, sound, and calculative cranking. While the juke focused on power with the breakdown and overall effect. This yrs arrangers are switched in Chicago. Su focused on creativity, technicality , power, and general effect. While jsu focused on power and brass stacking for clarity and effect. So, basically it's ok for su to make an arrangement that sounds nothing like the song and quite frankly the execution of the arrangement needs work... But when jsu do it.. It's a crime or they tryna be like the juke.... Again delusional and frauds !!!! Next.
