I think the reluctance comes from the dated sound of his voice. You can tell he's older by his use of his vibrato. I think he's wonderful but the judges clearly didn't.
It could be. I think he was 53 or something. They said it was lots of character in his voice, but they were confused if it was a man or a woman. Before he went on stage he said he was born as a woman. He has the best of both in his voice (female and male touch).
So here you have an EXTREMELY talented person with a singing voice that is way above average both in sound and quality, and only one of the judges turn when the song is almost over. In another video, a lady with a voice that could belong to any other female singer, sings a high note and they all turn within 20 seconds.
This TV show is ridiculous and pathetic and I wouldn't be surprised if the entire shit is scripted from A to Z!
This is typical Yosef style though. As they say, everyone on this show can sing really good, but they cant turn for everyone. They have just 12 spots each. Of course they turn for those they think they can help along the way. As Matoma said, this isnt in my «street» but he is damn good. When they see that a judge has turned then they know he is through anyway. Its not just about turning when there is someone good, but they turn when they feel they can help and mentor someone, and they turn when the participants show some personality and not just copying the original. This guy was really good, so you can say he deserved 4 chairs..but that doesnt really matter as long as he is through to next round. The last two years winners of The Voice Norway had only one turned chair in their auditions, so anyone can win regardless of how many chairs turned in the audition.
