Hi Brendan, we usually run surface lures and downriggers at 12 to 20 feet in Lake Hume, so we don't need to use leadlines. In Lake Dartmouth we fish at much greater depths, so we tend to use downriggers and leadlines together up there. Lake Hume trout are more often caught with surface lures, so we often run the downriggers at 6-8 feet, purely for separation.
It really is becoming a great mixed fishery, thanks to the stocking efforts of Vic Fisheries and a team of volunteers. Trout, Cod, Yellowbelly all stocked, and a healthy population of redfin for the table!!
Hi John, if you are referring to the large brown trout of Europe, no. They are likely to be from fisheries stockings, but their growth rate is quite good in this lake.
hi bro great video ,nice view and big fish.
Thanks mate. It was a great day on the water.
great video xavier loved watching you jamie
Hi , I notice that you only use down riggers and not lead line here, is that because of the fish size ? Thanks Brendan
