Another year, another Normies Eurovision reaction video where no one does their homework about the show and just keeps "teaching" false information to others. "Italy 4th", "Austria performed 13th", "jury vote is worth more", "Loreen being the first person to win twice"... Guys, please, just print the Wikipage for the show or something to have in front of you the next time. And a map of Europe, while you're at it. On the other hand Tattoo is without a doubt a great song, but not only were there more than ten songs I preferred to win I also much preferred Sweden's 2022 entry and think it/Cornelia deserved the win instead of Tattoo. Loreen is not a drug user or any other substance abuser. Get a grip and learn the person behind the character she portrays.
She's a very spiritual and free-minded person. She's also very eccentric person which in most social circumstances comes off as a person that is very aloof and chill/played back person.
Marketa I am a long time follower both here and on Patreon and I appreciate you and your opinions and views. But the disrespectful slander and attempt to sway the others views or opinions was not okay and I am hurt to see it. Loreen as many stated won it fairly and without any controversy or back stage fiddling. She came first in jury vote who base their judgement on performance, vocals, song writing and staging. She came SECOND in televotes while Käärijä came fourth in jury judgement and first in televotes. Had he been at least better than third place in jury vote he might have clinched it.
There is already a mount everest high hate on Loreen from bitter fans online, don't throw gasoline into the fire please.

This video was just full of misinformation lol. It isn't that hard to pull out a phone and google the final score. Or the fact that Johnny Logan has won Eurovision 2 times. All the unnecessary comments about Loreen were a bit disrespectful as well, like it has never been confirmed that she was taking any substances. So to spit that out like it's a fact seems a bit rude. It also sounded like Loreen won solely based on the jury when she also got the 2nd highest vote by the public. This is not uncommon in Eurovision that the artist with the most televotes isn't the winner (Netherlands 2019, Ukraine 2016 to name a few).
My personal favorites this year was Norway, Finland and Czechia. So while I was a bit sad neither of them won, I was happy that they got a well deserved placement instead (top 10).

As for Loreen, I think she deserves more respect, regardless whether you think she deserved to win or not. Its not her fault that the voting system is 50% jury votes and 50% televoting and the rules are same for everone. Plus even if Tattoo is not as great as Euphoria was (one of best ever if not best Eurovision songs), it was still great performance from her, and anyone who knows what kind of wonderful person she is, cant be mad at her. You know what would be great? If both Loreen and Käärijä would perform together in 2024 Eurovision in Sweden...not only would be great and funny to see, I bet both fangroups would love it and could forget about these petty arguments. Bit biased against Loreen here, also don’t really like how you are trying to force your opinion on the others before they have even watched both Kaaria and Loreen. Yes, the people loved Kaaria but the jury has a purpose too. The jury is there to recognize actual good songs and singing talent, in which case most would agree Loreen is a step above. Kaarias song is fun and well loved, and that’s what the public vote is for. If the public vote decided the winner by itself, Eurovision would only be people sending silly songs trying to become a meme and win that way. It is still a singing competition at its core. You can tell in your reaction as well as nobody except Chris and the Czech lady were talking during Loreens performance, everyone was trying to pay attention to the singing and this was only during Loreens song. I can uderstand why Croatian entry ended up so badly! After all, this is, unlike swallow ignorants oppinion about supposedly "joke entry", somethibg that demands thinking and higher music knowledge and culture: all that's about in huge deficite among the usual ESC fans but as it turns out also amongst juries! 😉
Mama ŠČ from Croatia 🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷 has been hugely misunderstood and undervalued entry since it's large departure from the stereotypical mould in which 99% of the ESC songs are made and are usually more or less trivial or even nonsensical pastiche shallow balades and superficial generic pop with very little to none musical let alone artistic value!
Ultra conservative, such balades and pop songs leaning juries that are, as it turns out, also very narrow minded, hypocritical, prejudical, and genre biased, tend to rule out, crush everything they can't grasp - that isn't in line with their very puristic vision of what should high quality song look like!
And to be more absurd Mama ŠČ is by many music experts one of the most original and highly valuable entries since it has everything: criptic lyrics that convey very serious and actual messages, it has high music and artistic value, astonishing styling and cleverly arranged punk/ alter. art meets opera performance that is full of symbolism, all packed in high quality instrumentals and arrangements!
But almost no-one from very hypocritical, ignorant and superficial juries payed as much as several minutes of their time at one nice thing called Google to check out what is this supposedly "joke entry" really all about, what's the history of Let 3 as the seasoned performers that are here from 1987., band that has been awarded multiple times for their music, had numerous collaborations with renowned theatre directors in highly sucessful theatre music productions. They would be famous if they were coming from England, USA, Sweden and if they've abandoned their native language and became uniformed and globalised!
All of that was too hard for this unimaginably shallow, ignorant and narrow minded jury folks and all others that do prefer easy mainstream stereotypical stuff and "safe" choices!

Speaking as a resident of Liverpool, it's worth saying the Eurovision organisation and city planners did a wonderful job making this first and foremost Ukraine's Eurovision, rather than England's - if that makes sense. Street parties for the hub of Ukrainian immigrants, markets with hand crafted pieces and art made by and profitting Ukrane, as well as a lot of art exhibits propping up across the city to celebrate the real hosts. All this without mentioning the insane number of music events spontaneously popping up on the daily.
Anecdotal, but I did come upon a Ukranian couple who managed to travel to the event for the final, and when being interviewed for a news broadcast, said they felt this was the most faithful location to host if for them that they could have asked for, such was the emphasis on it being their turn to host, not the UKs. Overall, the mood in the city was we were beyond humbled to host if for them, given the war, and took every opportunity we could to celebrate Eurovision and Ukraine.

This Eurovision was the most American, disrespectful crowd and undermining the winner. She was first in Jury and second in Televotes. If the song wasn’t popular, she would have tanked the televote. It’s 50/50 Jury and Televote so the jury isn’t worth more annoying dude. I love Käärija, but the song wasn’t for me. He’s just so charismatic though. But the undermining a deserving winner who was also clearly a favorite is just ridiculous at this point. -The jury votes don't count more than the people's votes (it's 50/50, sweden just got so many jury votes, that finland didn't win overall with al points combined)
-Serbia is not in Russia and it's not close either, there are 3 countries in between (two really big ones Romania and Ukraine), but it's not a known country to most so I can understand the mistake
-Eurovision was gay in your face even when Russia was taking part (it's not a new thing)

So many confident wrong statements in this one.
    - juries and televote is 50/50, so no, the jury vote is not worth more, but the key to winning is getting points from both. Finland got 5th from juries (still very high) and 1st in televote. Sweden got 1st in juries and 2nd in televote (for reference, her televote was big enough to win it most years, so its not like she was ignored by the public).
    - Loreen is the first female performer to win twice, but it has happened before. Johnny Logan won twice as a performer for Ireland in the 80s and then won a third time as a composer in the 90s.
    - It is not uncommon that the "peoples champion" doesn't win in the end. It happened in 2016 when Jamala won without winning jury OR televote (won by Australia and Russia respectively), and in 2019 when Duncan Laurence won with Arcade (Norway won the televote). This "controversy" is not new and it will blow over like it alway does. The rules are known going in to the competition, you need to do good in both to win.
    - Loreen was NOT high. I can understand if people unfamiliar with her would think so, but that is her personality. Very aloof. And if you think she actually performed like that while being high, then there should be no doubt at all on whether she derserved the win, cause that would be crazy impressive!
    - Israel was 3rd, Italy 4th.

It’s not uncommon that the televote winner doesn’t win. 4/10 times in the last 10 competitions has ended with someone winning that didn’t get the most points in the televote. It sounds like you are trying to make it appear as a big controversy this year.
One of those who won but didn’t get the most televotes were The Netherlands in 2019 with the song Arcade. However, that song has become the most played song on Spotify in the history of all songs that have ever been in Eurovision. So it’s extremely loved by the public, yet it didn’t win the televote. I would argue that the televote isn’t the holy grail and that it’s not the “true winner” as people always say year after year.
I have watched every Eurovision since 1999, but I’ve never voted because it costs money. I wish they could make it so that you could vote for free and limit the amounts of votes that you can cast. That would make it much more fair and include as many viewers as possible to have their say. As it is now, a single person can vote 20 times for the same song as long as they are willing to pay for it.

There's no significant prize, nor does the winner get any big notoriety or career boost after winning, so why are we fighting? It's just a format, and at the end of the day, what matters should be that we get some fun, upbeat, cooky melodies all in one show. Jury vote and televote is both 50 50% and the combination of both decides who is the winner. Jury vote is where judging panel from every country vote for their top 10 performances. Whoever they thought deserves to be #1 will receive 12 points, following is 10 points and so forth. (Sweden placed 1st in jury vote, Finland was 4th) then they announce the tele-vote which is basically the people audience voting. Finland placed first in the tele vote. Sweden was placed 2nd in tele vote. So overall Sweden got total 580ish points while Finland got 520ish points. Hence Sweden was the winner this year. The controversy was not because of Loreen or whether she won before or the song. It’s because next year is ABBA’s 50 year anniversary. ABBA is Swedish pop group, it’s an iconic group (they sing the song Dancing Queen). They won Eurovision with the song Waterloo in 1974. So a lot of people are saying Eurovision rigged the voting to give Sweden win this year so then Sweden will host the next year’s Eurovision in 2024 (winner of the year before hosts the next year). Obviously Eurovision will market and advertise ABBA and its 50th year anniversary to make more money. Loreen the singer represented Sweden got so much hate for it because of it. Again this is just a controversy, nothing is confirmed or anything. To me both were wonderful. There are always some debate on who should have won every year at Eurovision so to me this is just an another one.

What people don't realize is the fact it's called Eurovision Song Contest for a GOOD REASON. When there is a "contest" there is always a presence of juries or judges that evaluate a performance/song/etc. You have heard of a spelling bee Contest, national pie contest, national giant pumpkin contest, etc. It's NOT like American Idol where the final say/vote is 100% televote (that's what people outside of Europe think when they see Eurovision (American Idol meets the Olympics)). The juries have been established since 1956, the year when Eurovision was founded and it has been a staple of voting. There is NO way the EBU decided to make 100% televote, otherwise it would be an imbalance for the other songs to have a say in terms of performance and staging. If you wanted to make a 100% televote Grand Final and scraping out the juries, why not just rename the competition as a whole. Instead of Eurovision Song Contest, why not just Eurovision or Eurovision Song Competition.

    • @tocraneandcrane
      @tocraneandcrane Рік тому +2

I'm not against the presence of juries per se, but Eurovision did have a 100% televote system from the late 90s to 2008 (note: under exceptional circumstances a jury could be used in case televoting for some reason didn't work, and for two years, 2001-2002, every country was able to make their own choice between 100% televoting or 50/50). This was changed in 2009, when the 50/50 system was introduced and made mandatory. So when people are saying they wanna ditch the juries it's not unprecedented; they're essentially saying they want to go back to the time before 2009.
