How can people hate such a perfect intro?
I'm wondering how people call this theme "whiny" as opposed to the trumpet infused theme with 11's intros.

Steel Spurs I found the 11th too bombastic but it wasn't what I would call whiny.
Charizarzar the music was good but the animation was just horrible. The windows looked like they were painted on and don't get me started about the doors opening the wrong way
This one is probably my second favourite, because 9s was fantastic.
I'm so glad they started putting the Doctor's face into the intro again.
The 2012 Matt Smith titles starting with The Snowmen already implemented the Doctor's face.
When did they not (have the face)?
From 8th to 10th.
They used the Doctor's face from 1967-1989 and 2012-present. (Most of 2nd Doctor, all of 3rd to 7th, some 11th, all 12th). Episodes without the Doctor's face were in 1963-1967, 1996, 2005-2012 (All of 1st Doctor, some 2nd, all of 8th to 10th, most of 11th).
They still need to transition to either a smile or a blink, That would make it even more nostalgic. I always feel like a kid again when the 7th doctor blinks at me in his intro.
This is probably my absolute favourite doctor who intro ever. The doctor who intros always show the TARDIS going through space, but this one has also managed to portray the him going through time as well. I love it when the spirals of the clock face spin and dissolve. Some of the sound effects sound like a big clock tower tocking! It's also fantastic to the return to showing a face as well.

I don't know about anyone else's opinion, but I actually love this theme. Capaldi's Doctor fits this theme, to me at least.

This was my first era. Staying up late with my sister and seeing terrific episodes such as that oxygen capitalist one, that truth one, and the finale was an amazing time to be a middle schooler.

In retrospect Capaldi really was an amazing Doctor. If he had been given better scripts then he would probably overtake Tennant as the fan favorite.
Someone's first era being Capaldi makes me feel kinda old :)
Capaldi was the new doctor for me, since me and my dad started watching when series 7 was new, so Matt smith was the current doctor. This opening is also the most artistic and interesting to me, since it has a very distinct style we haven’t seen before or since
i was wicked young when i started watching dr who. my first doctor was david tenant, mind you i was 3 years old at the time, and i was an elementary schooler during 12

If you listen carefully as the TARDIS goes backwards so does the sound go into reverse.
I remembering loving Billy's fan intro before I saw this debut at the Doctor Who world tour which was so exciting! A great opener title sequence :)

This is the only Dr Who opening that I actually looked up on UA-cam because it’s simply brilliant. Capaldi is The Doctor.

Wow, a clean version of the Twelfth Doctor titles. And no BBC logo in the top left corner of the video, only under the Doctor Who logo.

People hate this song Intro for many reasons, but the laziest excuse is 'It doesn't show the Time Vortex!' and that is so childish. Look not EVERY opening needs to show the time Vortex, remember the Tardis also travels in Space, not just time.
In my opinion this opening shows exactly what this show is about, for the most part. The cogs and clock faces represent time, the Tardis passing by said clock faces is it traveling through time. Then we see the Tardis pass by a few planets, showing that the Tardis can travel in space.
Personally, this is my favourite opening.

The cogs are a metaphor for travelling through/in time.

I thought the animation and design we're fine, I just disliked the music, especially the part at 0:30. It sounds like an oboe mixed with a synthesizer

Series 1-6 didnt sound weird but they were more popular.
Just because the audience wants one thing doesn't make it good. There's a reason why DR Suess is good. He did what he wanted.

A great title sequence and theme, but a shame when it's not synced up properly with the title sequence in some episodes.

I agree with Megan, it's way to high pitched while Capaldi is a darker doctor, so.... i expect the next intro to have a lower, deeper sound.

I like the early 1980 intros, they just need to make the face part less cheesy.
By far my favorite intro visually- The clock theme, the planets- it perfectly fits what Doctor Who is about at it's core- travelling through time and space.
He was a great doctor with a even greater intro

It's about time we finally got an HD version of this on UA-cam. My favourite official Doctor Who title sequence to date. The clock motif is very welcome. My only major gripe is that the Tardis looks like it's made of rubber. I know CGI has it's limits but this hasn't been an issue for previous titles of the modern era. Also NeonVisual's rendition of this blows all others out of the water.
I have no beef with the opening just the way the tardis is and the theme song bit with the high pitch makes me wanna scratch a wall

I love the bells that chime through this the most, it's treat with headphones
My favorite part about this theme is the drop in key on the second measure of the bassline (right before the clockface pops up). It adds a lit more variation and a sense of power that some of the other themes have lacked.
Also, listening to this in surround sound is a treat. so many little subtleties that get missed otherwise.
I liked that too. It also hinted at the madness of the Twelfth Doctor.

If you hate this title sequence, then you must loathe the Fifth/Seventh titles.
Ikr, people say "Oh well it doesn't have the time vortex and that's like a given for any title sequence so this is bad," when the 5th Doctor titles was flying through stars, and the 7th Doctor titles was flying around a galaxy.
I loved the fifth and sixth series after that i didnt get that doctor who feeling anymore

This theme was so different to the last few, but it's why I loved it. A real breath of fresh air. It also perfectly encapsulated the feeling of travelling through time as much as space

I love this theme because of the eyebrows, I wish they started to put the doctor's face on the intro more often.
Series 9 is my favorite season with 8 being second favorite!
I don't understand why people dislike this intro, personally I find this my favourite, for them they say it's too 'whiny' is ridiculous, the music might be different but still it's new and it is well made.
If they complain about this being whiny show them one of the 80s intros. Those things are practically pure synthesizer. That said I love this intro. It's amazing!

12th Doctor is my absolute favorite. I love everything about how Capaldi played the Doctor. The fact that he was older, how he was always grouchy, he had the perfect amount of (mostly) understated and dry humor, but could also make you laugh out loud. He was perfect. I hate that he didn't get more than 3 sseasons. Seems like he got shortchanged compared to Tennant and Smith.

Sort of. There were a couple of one-off variations and in his final season the gears were colored a bit differently.

I really like this opening! The spiral clock and blue waves and ofc! Peter's eyebrows! I really enjoy dancing with this opening.
I miss this version of the opening titles, this was the definitive Doctor Who theme for me
I already miss Capaldi's weird ass intro
I hated this version of the theme when I first heard it. Then after Jodie’s 2 seasons it grew on me.
Same with Matt Smiths, thought it was way over the top. Then I ended up loving it.
Not sure what they did to Jodie’s, but (2021) it no longer sounds like a warm fart easing through your pants and vibrating off the vinyl couch.

It was going really strong until 0:14 when the composer decided to go on a wild experiment.
