It’s a blessing to have a husband that helps. When it comes to holiday decor I’m on my own. I took several pumpkins to the back acreage where deer browse. Split them with a shovel. They haven’t touched them.🤦🏼♀️
Hi there, yes I'm very thankful for his help. I'm on my own for the inside decorations after he sets up the tree. Hopefully the deer find your pumpkins. They found mine this weekend. I caught a buck eating on it. I'll add footage to my video that I'll post Saturday. Happy Holidays!
Hi Cathy, It was so nice to meet you as well! Thank you so much for stopping to say hello. It always makes me happy to meet garden friends at HD & Lowes that recognize us or my voice from the videos. Hope you had a great time foraging your greens and making arrangements with your granddaughter 🎄🥰
I just love watching..As usual I'm always learning something new from watching your channel....the plugs in the plastic bag....good idea 💡 😀....happy holidays
Your containers are gorgeous and much nicer than the Home Depot ones. I'll be cutting greens in my yard, for containers and hanging baskets, this week. Will also be moving pumpkins for the squirrels.
Thank you so much Susan! The deer have already been eating on my pumpkins. They seem to love them. I'll include footage in a video I'm working on for next weekend. Have fun making your arrangements!
Very much admiring your front porch Steph. And so impressed by your ten year old son's interest in Christmas decorating. The acorn certainly doesn't fall far from the tree.
Thanks to you Steph I decorated my outdoor pots with the greenery from my yard last yea and plan on doing the same thing this year, You guys did a great job decorating your outdoor spaces , I’m going to look for a winterberry shrub next year, too. That pop of red is so beautiful
Oh Steph your porch, yard and shed looks so festive and beautiful. Your son done a great job putting the inflatables in the yard. I love how you forged all the different colors of greens for your big pots and window box on your little shed. It hard not to call your shed a she shed. Y'all Christmased everything up outside. Just prefe t, not to little not to much. Now I need to start on mine. Have a great evening.❤❤❤
Hi Judy! Thank you so much for you kind words. I like to think of it as my she shed, maybe one day it will be. Have fun creating yours, and have a great week!
Your planters and your window boxes are amazingly beautiful! I don’t have any greens I can cut in my area, so I’ll just have to admire yours, lol. You and your husband are such a cute couple. ♥️ Your son is very talented at decorating as well.M
Steph, I also put my pumpkins in the woods for the deer-I have 6 1/2 acres of land which came complete with a whole family of deer that love to eat my plants and shrubs! I am lucky to be able to forage for my planters too. Yours came out beautiful!! 😊
Inspired! Little one did such a great job! Also, your lipstick color is lovely and matches the season :D I've yet to find the perfect shade! We also bought a real evergreen themed wreath last year- didn't have the heart to toss it this year and figured we could use the old needles as some sort of mulching material to keep our plants warm for this winter and keep the faux berries and cones it came with for other decor!
Like your porch decorations. I always cut my green from my garden. It is fun and cost friendly. I think I would put ribbons on your porch pillars they are really nice.
Loved your decoration. Nice idea to use the existing plants from the garden in the front porch pots. Loved your Window boxes as well. So nice of your responsible kid to contribute his portion of putting on the decoration.
So pretty! I usually do winter porch pots but this year I have multiple containers with evergreen shrubs/small trees in them so I've just added some big pinecones for my winter look.
Wrapping several layers of good quality plastic wrap around the box of battery-operated lights works well if you want to use them outdoors. I tuck them in my holiday pots. I also use plastic wrap on the sticks of decorative wooden holiday picks in my pots, so they don't rot.
Last year, I followed your lead on using greenery from my property to decorate my planters. And, thank you for reminding me to decorate the planters this year as well. Happy Holidays!
The pansies may hold over winter? Maybe pot them into another planter temporarily. They might may it through to spring depending on what zone you are in.
Thank you for the inspiration! I will be heading over to my brother's property today to 'forage' for holly and evergreens. Great suggestion to use rhododendrons.
Good morning Stef 🌺 Very beautiful containers and window box arrangements for Christmas . I lovet and I love the grotto with the lights .I also cut everygreen for Christmas arrangement . Happy Christmas and have anice day .🎄🌻🎄
Wonderful Christmas decorations. I use cuttings from the evergreens in my garden as well as red twig dogwood and winterberry to decorate my front door planters but have always missed the look of magnolia leaves. I have never heard of or thought of using rhododendron leaves instead of magnolia leaves..... Love the idea!
Stunning results! You make it look so easy. After watching several YT videos, I've come to realize that I didnt have the right tools or watered my pots from last year resulting in wonky arrangements for my back porch. 😊 On another note, it's nice to see your family actively helping in the decorations.
I love your porch pots and window boxes, Steph. I have done this on my porch for years with evergreens and lights. I just love how it looks and is even better lit up at night! I just added red and yellow dogwood in my garden this year so I'm excited to add those to my planters in the future.
Love it all & thanks for video going to hang lights first time in 5 years was super nervous around this. Wanted you to see Robbie with Visit Our Garden channel he made a gorgeous dusty Miller wreath reminds me of something you would make. ❤
The planters look great Steph! I was at Home Depot today too and picked up some Green Emerald Arborvitae and a Colorado Blue Spruce. I've been trying to add more evergreens to my garden. 😁
Hi Mary! Oh how fun! Those will look beautiful in your garden. Evergreens are always a good idea for year round interest, and for cutting and arranging winter/holiday greens 🎄🎋
It looks beautiful! I love the idea of evergreens for a Christmas arrangement and pots. So, it looks like you just shave off the bottom part and then keep it well watered? Will it last the whole month of December? Everything looks amazing. Please tell your son he did a great job.❤
Hi Robyn, Here in my zone 6 its pretty cold out already. So watering the soil once, inserting my fresh cuttings is all I need to do to keep them fresh for a few months. Thank you, I will let him know 💕
Your arrangements are beautiful and what a great way to extend the garden. I love to do the same. While I have crates of beautiful Christmas tree ornaments, the last few years I opt for more simple decor… mostly dried flowers from the garden … roses, hydrangeas and such. I uploaded a ‘short’ video of the tree on my YT channel TeresaByington. Enjoy your beautiful decor and those very festive inflatables! 🎄
Steph, do the planters last until Christmas? The weather is so warm here (zone 9a, Foley, AL), I don’t think they would last. The planters are so natural and beautiful. I love how you decorated.
Hi Robin, here in my zine 6, they last for several months. It's cool outside so they stay moist in the soil, and once the containers freeze, the cuttings are locked in. My guess is that in your zine they would require watering regularly, and would probably last through Christmas if somewhat shaded and watered.
Thank you! I just sit them on the inside(top of wreath toward the bottom) and it stays put. I try to disguise it by positioning a branch or two just right. Since my wreath is artificial, it's easy to manipulate the Greenery. Hope this helps.
I don't have too many shrubs to be able to cut and fill my two urns so one year I bought greens from my local garden center which they sell for $5.99 A POUND! Isn't that funny? Cost me about $20. This year I'm doing something different in a single urn. Took 5 green wooden garden stakes evenly placed in the dirt in the urn and brought up to the top like a teepee shape secured with duct tape. Then I wrapped the tree shape with artificial 9ft garlands around and around twisting branches to each other as I went and made a tree! Will add lights and put on my front steps. Took 3 full 9ft garlands and a little more of a 4th. But I'm very happy with how it came out. Your front steps and decor looks beautiful! I'm going to look around my property this year and think I may have a few things to cut and put into a birch log planter.
Hi Debbie, If you don't have the shrubs to cut, that's not a bad price at all. A great alternative. Your arrangement for your front steps sounds like it turned out beautifully! Birch log planters are so pretty.
@@HookedandRooted actually I looked around and think I can come up with something to put in that birch log this week. Your video gave me some ideas to take cuttings off shrubs I hadn't thought of. P.S. that garden center sells magnolia leaves for 10 cents each!

Steph "Sometimes we need to treat ourselves" then preceeds to ask George, "who's going to pay". His face! 😂😂😂
lol, hey valid question right?! he was amused 😂
Such a sweet family 🥰
Thank you so much 💗
Kool knife!!! 💙 your little guy with his toolbelt was soo stinking cute.
Wouldn't it be to kool if the magnolias would root.
He's the cutest, thank you! Yes, that would be so cool if it rooted 🌱
Steph, all your arrangements look beautiful! Nice to have so many evergreens to choose from in your own gardens for your holiday decor!

He's a professional with his inflatables 🥰 Thanks so much Teresa!
Love the planters - the magnolia leaves and berries were the finishing touches!
Yes you have inspired me to cut greens from my woods thank you
I love all the beautiful greenery you collected from your gardens. You and your son did a
amazing and beautiful display.😊💖🎄
Beautiful! Your son is a doll. Good job to him as well😊
Love this!! The containers, the inflatables, everyone getting involved in decorations. Just awesome!
Loved the toolbelt around your son's waist. He seems a little replica of dad. So cute and nice for him to be involved.
Can we all just appreciate George?! 👏
We should all have a George in our lives. 🎄
He is great, I'm lucky to have him. Thank you so much Sandi 🥰
Such a smart way to decorate your beautiful entry!!!
I just did this exact same thing yesterday. Used juniper, magnolia and hydrangea with some red berry pics in window boxes and hanging baskets. 😁
Beautiful Winter Pots Steph!!
Thank you so much Robyn! 🥰
Steph it was nice to run into you and George this morning at Home Depot. 👍

U don’t always see that
Hi Ana, Thank you so much! I'm very lucky, George is a very helpful husband. I'm grateful for him.
I love your window boxes and the addition of those Magnolia branches to the front planters added such a bright spot!
