    Great video, and yes, you need to have that special spark plug socket. Mine also has a magnetic ability to help pull out the spark plug.

    I looked up the ignition coil part number you used to perform this replacement (0221504800) in the Amazon link you provided. The page says that the part number does not fit your car. What gives? Is Amazon incorrect?

    Thanks for the video - A lot easier than I thought. I did look up the parts on Amazon with your links and Amazon states the coils do not fit my 2008 Mini S R56 (saved s my vehicle on there) but I am thinking they may be wrong. Is there other coils that I may need? I just don't want to order and find out they are not fitting.

  • @Simrin

    The original coils looked like Delphi and the replacements Bosch. Would you say it doesn't make a difference? I've read the Delphi ones have that metal heat shielding over the Bosch ones or is that a so called advantage and a load of rubbish?

    • @SimpleCarGuy
      @SimpleCarGuy  5 років тому

      Bosch coils were the OEM ignition coils on these motors and that’s why I went with Bosch. They will work just as Mini designed them. However, in recent years, BMW started using Delphi coils on a lot of BMW engines. So, I would go with the ones that fit your budget best. I would go with Bosch unless you have mods and every little bit helps

    Between the torque wrench and the spark plug socket, I see you used a long cylindrical metal part not included in the parts to buy. without it I don't think I'll be able to reach the spark plugs. What's the name of it?

    • @SimpleCarGuy
      @SimpleCarGuy  2 роки тому

    • @SimpleCarGuy

      I followed the steps in BMW's manual, they don't mention any anti-seize compound. Thanks for watching!

    • @Devinatron
      @Devinatron 2 роки тому

      Anti-sieze typically isn't recommended for spark plugs due to the lack of moisture they come in contact with, it alters the torque results, and some plugs come with some sort of anti-sieze coating already on the threads.
