Please help can anyone explain the meaning of external force in conservation of momentum, in rocket propulsion mass is decreasing and velocity is increasing then how can we say momentum is conserved
brother see, if there is no external foce aplied, the total momentum of the system remains constant, i.e., conservation of momentum. Also, "external force" here means that no force acts from outside. It is clear from the concept, rocket is losing its own mass on its own, nothing else from outside is applying this force. This happens internally in the rocket due to combustion, hence the conservation of linear momentum can be applied.
I think you went by flow in 1st questions As when rain is dropping on the cart how can thrust be in that direction as nothing is going in left direction to provide thrust in right direction. Plz clear this doubt

Correct way to solve- Apply momentum conservation
I think they didn't used the momentum conservation Because thrust force is acting in horizontal direction
It has to be perceived in the manner that at a particular time t, there would be a particular constant mass characteristic of that moment or time. It has not been used for a duration, and thus stands correct.
Sir aap hi class 12 physics bhi lijiye aisa killer visualisation nahi dekha

Exactly. But we must assume that there is no external force in horizontal direction.

Sir can't we apply momentum conservation in rocket propulsion
No because mass is not constt.
The formula is derived from momentum conservation so this is another way of writing linear momentum
We can apply
If we consider the main mass and ejected mass as a system at an instant
And sir has done the same in derivation
