RIP Homeworld.
Adagio for Strings. My favourite classic and EDM song. The nostalgia for the original is overwhelming.
Was pretty certain that was the tune. Interesting how they got the rights to. Bravo to that.

Didn't sound like it to me, rather a piece resembling it
it only resembles it, there are some good scores .. but the game overall only relies on that nostalgia train, if you stop to think you will see that it is grossly diluted version of homeworld with absolutely terrible story and focus on characters that takes most of the attention away from what is going on everywhere else. You would think the "Queen" has some great control over hyperspace but enemies come from a single hole in waves, and even in the final moments she is powerless.
Spoilers : You get to defeat the queen because deep down she feels lonely and just needs a friend. lol
Adagio is the original, Agnus Dei is a "cover" by Samuel Barber. Seems they named the version in HW "Tears of Karan".

I have come to believe that strategy games are dead genre because the game are not seen worthwhile investing years into because of the niche, as well as the genre is stagnant in the fact that sequels need to improve upon something and the developers are in a struggle to decide whether to make it more of a simulation, please a more niche audience or more arcade, please more norms, style of game and sense game companies see more money in arcade style of games, they are going after the money.
So I would recommend that everyone that likes strategy games speak with their money, something game companies can understand, to bring back more RTSs

Don't get me wrong, I'm so looking forward to this, but the original black and white cutscenes were integral part of the Homeworld atmosphere and storytelling. I still hope they'll be here, the CGI scenes don't belong here.
Edit: After reading more about the game I'll stick to the previous games.

I kinda got mixed feelings with the third instalment, we got less tech units then and the story of is not really fleshed out and cross over to next mission was not done in the way i like it. Now the game is beautiful and controls are great and cant wait to see how the modding community build in this game.
By removing all of the cgi cuscenes, for starters.
Then reinstalling the mechanics from Homeworld 1, a 25-year-old game, hopefully.

I posted it on the discord page. 3 different factions in the Hagaran fleet. We are on different teams but on same side. All 3 are going in same direction with this new war. Needs to be something like we traveled all the way across the Homeworld universe to a certain planet with some crazy story to it all 3 with their own storyline.
I won't buy this now because the content is looking to be lacking but I'll absolutely get this when there's a Halo overhaul mod in 3+ years. That will be very exciting.

It is good but not without issues. The music and sound effects are amazing but the gameplay around ship management, controls, UI, research took a step back. Evening something as simple as why are all resources red which is the same color as enemies on the map. Odd decisions were made. As for using denuvo, 0day DLCs and Eula to agree...well that is bad management.

Sad that there is no Somtaaw in the game, but so far game seems to be great from what people with early access/streamers have shown. Definitely a homeworld game with it's gameplay core. There are promises for future DLCs and better mod support, time will tell.
I've been playing it since early access on Friday, and the game is perfectly stable... I don’t see any bug, no crash to desktop, no bad localization, it's so rare when a game is released!
Somtaaw ships can be seen in the background in the early missions, they were in the early demo tutorial with both pre and post cataclysm emblems
@@McAwsm94 only bug i've really had is on some phase 3 wargame map, the game slows to a sync- crawl and time moves at 1/5th speed the whole level. Takes foreeever to complete. Other than that, things have been largely fine.
The game is solid but there are some issues. The story is definitely a step down from previous titles. Annd no hyperspace jumps in skirmish which is kinda lame.
@@XMysticHerox no Hyperspace? That really sucks. Jumping capital ships in and out of battle has always been a core part of the game for me

I finished the campaign. And watching this made me confused when they said Hyperspace has been weaponized. Huh? What? Technically it has been weaponised and used to teleport their ships through space for battle purposes. So what exactly do they mean by that?
You are forgetting that the writers for this campaign only had a passing glance at the previous titles. We not get the privilege to see a intergalactic chat lobby for navigators. Using hyperspace feelings.
@@Davelantor Isaac must have amnesia or never read up on his history books or something cause Sajuuk literally used the hyperspace cores to shoot a friggin laser. So what's different.

The story was a HUGE disappointment.
The story didnt at all felt grand or important. After completing the campaign it didnt feel like I have saved an entire civilization, but more like a series containing homeworld IP and combined it with some badly written story about a villain with mystical power.
I actually got bored of seeing a close up face making squinting motions with their eyes.
The "dream sequences" were so disconnected and pointless that you can actually skip them and the story will be BETTER. You than actually might get the feeling of a story resembling previous games where the main point is a fight for survival with limited resources and characters came second or none at all.
I think there was a much better story but someone came and wanted to insert their own story from completely different world.
Leaving aside the terrible story, the gameplay .. lol
Pathfinding is terrible, units move off on their own regardless of the stances and orders.
They dont keep formation and reset to wedge. They randomly do strange turns and target random ships during move orders

Love this game. I expected a little more in the visual department if I’m being honest. Even the explosions look subpar. As funny as it sounds, I always judge any Space based games on the quality of the destruction.
It looks like a beautiful mess unfortunately. Sadly abandoned the hand drawn cutscenes. They really allowed for making the design look more dynamic and slightly mysterious

A new enemy and you get to defeat them because the queen deep down feels lonely and just needs a friend. Prepare to be disappointed in the story. But just dont stop to think about it.

It’s super disappointing because this 20 years later sequels was lazy. It’s clear all they did was make a new sky box and not much else. Graphics look like from 20 years ago. They took away features like hyperspace jump. Where are the shipyards? Why is the unit cap so low? Ultimately, what’s actually new about this game? Save your money, definitely not worth it.
If you’re looking for a fun space game with RTS elements check out X4 Foundations. You start out as a single small ship but eventually you’ll be running things from the map, printing ships and sending them to battle or patrol. full dynamic resource system, no unfun limits, if you want a thousand destroyers in a fleet and have the resources (and CPU power) go for it. plus you can walk around on the ships!

Love the game. I'm not a fan of the cover system, and the character look like they were animated and designed by the dudes that made Shrek. But, other than that, it's a great game.
Seems like a huge visual downgrade took place, or is it just me? The initial trailer was superior to this one in every way imo, not just graphics. Still, I'm sure I'll love the game.

I can't speak for multiplayer but the campaign really didn't have any bugs other than some issues with large battles where commands would sometimes not be registered

Do people hate new Homeworld 3? It doesnt have a story so it has to be gameplay. I tried to tell you guys need to go all out with story lol. The gameplay I thought was good. I couldnt get into original Homeworld games cus of controls. I hated the old UI and controls.
Not sure how its setup at BBI but if all of you are working on same project or the popular/good ones I think alot are working on other projects. Combine ground battles (gameplay from Desert of Kharak with HW3 game engine) and space battles in HW3 with the huge universe starmap and this game should be set for life. Dont dumb it down like what happened to COH3. I think HW3 is actually good and this is just an experiment on the new game engine and graphics.
Beat the game's story on the day of early release, absolutely worth it, plus war games are insanely good

I was stoked for this one, but it seems the tone of the game's story and world feel is lost. Shame because the original reveal trailer with the hand drawn cutscenes smacked. Also they made the Imogen uglier in the final version for some reason, how bizarre, considering the playerbase is mostly men. They lost out there.

man this game is trash ! and here is why
for a game which heavily focuses on your 1 mothership, there is a lack of skill tree progression where it allows you to choose one of the 3 paths,
1- aggressive
which will come with a unique set of weapons mounted on the ship these weapons have long range and armor and shield piercing, they are indented to take down the heaviest ships , also a range of heavy missiles like missiles which depletes the shield, cluster missiles, nukes and armor piercing missile
2-defensive
this will allow you to mounth defensive weapons and missiles on your mothership, their aim is to destroy any incoming missiles, drones and arcrafts. furthermore a reinforced armor which show on the mothership and a heavier shield
3-carrier path
this will allow you to build a heavy class destroyer which is part of the mothership fleet , more capacity to have drones whose job is to repair your ship , and attack small aircrafts squad
moreover the game needs more areas where fight take place like in the atmosphere of various planets, where you can also see units below you shooting at you , and your units are taking them down..
and about that trash gateway design which has a rectangle blue shape, for real bro!!! couldn't you design a better gateway !!!!

Funny how the haters were the first ones to comment and I would bet dollars to donuts none of them have actually played the game. I bought every Homeworld game the day it was released and they were fantastic and this one is no different. HW3 brought out the emotions just like the first ones with the cutscenes. Don't let the haters who just like to post hate about anything and everything drive you away from a great game.
It was disappointing for me, I feel that is valid.
