I tried out both the Flip 5 and the Charge 4 and actually found that the Flip 5 has a better sound in my personal opinion. I find it's clearer and more balanced. The Flip 5 is an amazing speaker, especially for its size! I had a Bose micro and SoundLink before this and I still find the Flip 5 has a better sound.
@Ben yes totally agree, bought flip 5 two days ago, I personally already got a JBL Xtreme 1. Flip 5 is way more portable, and goes really loud that can as loud as charge 4 except bass, charge 4 maintain its bass on high volume, and of course flip 5 lose a little bit of it. But most of the time for casual use you will only use it on around 50 percent because it will go loud. Both charge 4 and flip 5 are good, but flip 5 sounds clearer, cleaner, more defined on every volume. Charge 4 sounds better on higher volume, but it will sound not as clear as flip5 trust me. I have flip 5 i disasemble it and has .. 5 battery indicator leds next to each other . Has a 3ohm 20 w driver 2×2400mah paralel 18650 battery And its very good.
I came from a charge 4 to a flip 5 because the charge 4 stopped working for some reason. Flip 5 sounds louder idk why, but the bass is almost as good ngl.
There is also one more reason to pick up JBL charge 4 - you can buy it if you already have a speaker with "connect plus", because you would be able to connect charge 4 to it.
no, sound quality goes to the flip 5. but the charge 4 can go to a higher volume level than the flip. again just cause it can be heard at higher levels doesnt mean that it is more clear or better sounding. i would go with the flip 5.
It depends, if you want very high volume get the charge, if you want something more portable and that still gets fairly loud get the flip. I have heard the flip 4 and personally I think it gets loud enough even outdoors
Thank you so much for your review! I'm inclined to buy the Flip 5. Considering I'll use it mostly for classical music and opera, do you think it's a good choice? And what about buying two, in order to get stereo sound? Is it just silly of me?
Flip 5 better sound, charge 4 better bass. You will feel it if you already get used to quality speakers. Charge 4 of course better battery life but I tried both in store, flip 5 sounds better and more comfortable with cleaner and clearer mid and high not as muffled as charge 4. Both are good, you will be satisfied unless you compare them
Bass on JBL flip 5 better than charge 4 !!?? Haha what a joke, no way, my friend has the flip 5 and I own the charge 4 not even close on sound and bass !! And battery on my charge 4 last way longer and a mean waaay longer
@@tsuriranpu From whaat Im listening here, the Flip 5 has a little more punch but in a smaller bass range. The Charge 4 has wider bass range, and I think its simply because of a larger driver size. You can configure a small speaker to have a well balanced punchy bass but a larger speaker will give a richer sound on the lows, and I still think a larger speaker still feels better even if its muddier.

Just bought 2 Flip 5 speakers. On their own the quality of sound is excellent but I am having great difficulty with playing them in Party Boost. From an Iphone 11 the speakers cut in and out, the speed of the music increases all of a sudden and then speakers disconnect and then reconnect (sometimes) . This also happens when paired with a Samsung phone so I don't think the issue lies with Apple. Anyone had this same issue?
I have the Flip 5 but it dies so quickly when I'm at work just playing music on a full charge. I had my Xtreme 2 and that shit I can bump that all night on a single charge with no issues but that shit is just way too big to have lugging around at work. I think I'll give the Charge 4 a chance.
Biggest letdown for me with the flip 5 is that there is no Bluetooth 5.0. I’m not sure why they didn’t add that in. It would’ve been the perfect setup having two of them in stereo mode when watching a movie or tv.
@@seanvargas7024 def wait if you haven't yet purchased yet, there might be a sale on the new one or even better the older model will drop in price so either way it's a win/win
Future man here, it's for sale now. Launched about 2 weeks ago. Charge 5 has a similar port style to the flip 5, with the addition of a USB-A under a cover (a cover like on the Charge 4). It also comes with a separate 10W tweeter besides the 30W circuit driver, compared to just that circuit driver on the Charge 4. Most importantly though, if you're still waiting to make a purchase, consider the new looks of the JBL speaker line-ups. Future man, out.
@PyroFreaksHuizen NL cuz its a thing where jbl use to pair speakers BUT with ONLY the specific Partyboost connection. The lower versions like the jbl Connect+ and Connect couldn't pair with that speaker that has the partyboost connection. They were simultaneously changing it to milk more money out of people.
Depends on what "awesome" bass means to you. I have two Flip 5s (one for me, one for my wife) and the sound is balanced, clear and crisp. The bass is evident but not "wall-rattling". But it's clean. I listen to everything but mostly contemporary jazz, electronic (deep/tech house, liquid drum and bass), r & b (neo-soul, 80's & 90's hip hop). Hope this helps.
Yes but it doesn't sound that good but yes and it may glitch out but dont worry that wont hurt anything i promise i did it with my charge 3 and it sounds fine
I ordered the Charge 4 a couple days ago so it's probably a bad idea for me to watch this comparison video now.. You say that the Flip 5 has better audio.. Hope I didn't make the wrong choice!
Thanks, what a great conclusive review. Base on your review, I can see why it makes sense to save small cash by opting for the flip 5 rather than the charge 4. The flip 5 cost £119 in UK. The charge 4 which originally cost £150 was reduced today by my local store to £119 on special offer so I opted for the charge 4 instead. Had special offer on the charge 4 not existed I would had bought the flip 5.
Good question. Given it's rating, it should be fine. I can also say that I've taken the cover off of plenty of JBL speakers, and they are sealed up pretty good. You should be fine.
Max Dalton, just my 2 cents but if you do another comparison go old school classics like Biggie, Wu-Tang Clan "CREAM" guarantee if you commit to the flip comparison an audio selection as such will greatly benefit your channel subscription. Marketing is huge and if you can execute this properly your channel will greatly benefit from it HUGE! !!
My favorite speaker ever had /has been my charge 4 !! My camouflage green was recently stolen sadly..I had to replace it asap while accepting a plain Ol ‘charge 4 … now I’m kinda salty due to the fact I loved the camouflaged look.. I’m thinking of just grabbing the flip 5 in camouflage …it’ll give me my fix .. #loveJBL
It really just depends on how you want to use it. If you care more about portability, then I'd recommend the Flip. If you care more about max volume and filling a room with sound, I'd recommend the Charge.
How come (nearly) every other review i read on this comparison says the complete opposite about sound quality than you do? I'm not saying this is a fake review, but to the people watching this: get your information from multiple reviews and compare. One other review i found that said the Flip 5 is on par with the Charge 4 also said that the Flip 5 has an 3.5mm jack, which it doesn't... I actually just found another one stating it has a 3.5mm jack.
That battery life is a joke. I just bought the flip 5 to use at work and of course it’s at full volume cause it’s a factory type environment, I get MAYBE 4 hours out of it, and it won’t even stay running on the charger.
Max Dalton It was bought with the purpose of being used at work. It does not fulfill that purpose for even half of an 8 hour day really and it’s advertised at 12 hours. That’s my point. Not worth it, for me at least. Sound quality is awesome though, don’t get me wrong.
Also went with the charge 4 much more bass than the flip, the flip won't set the mood like the charge does, not as small but still as convinent for portability.

I bought the charge 4. It was a doubt (flip 5 or the charge 4)... I tested the flip 5 vs the charge 4 in the fnac shop and charge 4 beat absolutely the flip 5 when you raise the sound level.
Nice video!
I have flip 5 i disasemble it and has ..
5 battery indicator leds next to each other .
Has a 3ohm 20 w driver
2×2400mah paralel 18650 battery
And its very good.
I might get the flip5 because it sounds better with all levels
I came from a charge 4 to a flip 5 because the charge 4 stopped working for some reason. Flip 5 sounds louder idk why, but the bass is almost as good ngl.
There is also one more reason to pick up JBL charge 4 - you can buy it if you already have a speaker with "connect plus", because you would be able to connect charge 4 to it.
The flip 5 is ridiculously good for the size.
Yes. Same goes for the Flip 3
The X in IPX7 means that it’s not tested for dust resistance. But you are correct about water resistance
Hey wanted to know whether to buy JBL FLIP 5 OR SONY SRS-XB32????
He is like the tech version of Chills reaction on youtube. 😁💯
I was just thinking that
A minha escolha foi a JBL FLIP 5. De fato eu não me arrependo.
So go for the jbl charge 4 if you want the better sound quality?
no, sound quality goes to the flip 5. but the charge 4 can go to a higher volume level than the flip. again just cause it can be heard at higher levels doesnt mean that it is more clear or better sounding. i would go with the flip 5.
Yes, charge 4 is better
From where I reside, the Charge 4 is only ~$35 more than the Flip 5. Is that a good deal or should I just get the Flip 5?
Go for charge 4
It depends, if you want very high volume get the charge, if you want something more portable and that still gets fairly loud get the flip. I have heard the flip 4 and personally I think it gets loud enough even outdoors
Just ordered the Charge 4 in Forest Green! Can't wait!
Thank you so much for your review! I'm inclined to buy the Flip 5. Considering I'll use it mostly for classical music and opera, do you think it's a good choice? And what about buying two, in order to get stereo sound? Is it just silly of me?
Flip 5 is not muddy...charge 4 is way more muddy😣😆 flip 5 has far better bass than flip 4 too
Thx for thé review. Does the lights stay on ? It will sucks in the dark.
I think a few of them stay on, but the charging lights go off after a while -- I think. I don't use mine in the dark, lol.
@@MaxDalton thx :)
Should I buy the flip 5 or charge 4 for going on bus journeys. I no the charge 4 is louder but is it much louder.?
Hi i whould go for a flip 5 beacause 1st its more efficient and portable and secondly its not THAT much louder so a flip 5 is better (my opinion)
On your bus journeys you should use headphones !
Exactly!
Woow! I hardly like reviews. But this time I really liked it. Thank you.
Ended up getting charge 4
Good choice. It's a great speaker.
@@MaxDalton yup just arrived yesterday and it's really good just what I needed, you can hear it trough out the house when it's on low volume
@@MaxDalton now I can use both m speakers one on one side of the hour ad thather on the opposite side, sounds great
Hai, Should i buy charge 4 or flip 5? I mean i cant figure out. WHich is the best sound with bass?
I'd go with the Charge 4 if you just care about bass. You'll get better battery life and a charging port.
Flip 5 makes lots of sense
Flip 5 better sound, charge 4 better bass. You will feel it if you already get used to quality speakers. Charge 4 of course better battery life but I tried both in store, flip 5 sounds better and more comfortable with cleaner and clearer mid and high not as muffled as charge 4. Both are good, you will be satisfied unless you compare them
with the charge 4 you can set a low frequency mode by holding Bluetooth and - for 10 seconds
I'd strongly encourage people not to do that because it can seriously damage their speaker.
Really?I never knew that thanks you
I have both, I just won the flip 5 from work, I might sell my pulse 3 and get the pulse 4 to pair with my flip 5
I have those two. The pulse 4 has identical sound to Flip 5. They sound very good when you pair.
Just got jbl charge 4 on Black Friday and it loud
Yeah, it can get up there, lol.
i just got the charge 4 after having a flip 3 for a while, so happy with the charge. and it can charge my phone when i’m at soccer tournaments
Heard the Flip 3 was/is BadAss is more ways than one. A win-win. Thinking about getting a Flip 5 & using both
Bass on JBL flip 5 better than charge 4 !!?? Haha what a joke, no way, my friend has the flip 5 and I own the charge 4 not even close on sound and bass !! And battery on my charge 4 last way longer and a mean waaay longer
Nah charge 4 sounds dry af. Actually returned it to buy a flip 4 lol
Ayayin21 ja i have the charge4 and i hate that flip
If I buy flip 5 could I connect it with my charge 4 ?
@@tsuriranpu From whaat Im listening here, the Flip 5 has a little more punch but in a smaller bass range. The Charge 4 has wider bass range, and I think its simply because of a larger driver size. You can configure a small speaker to have a well balanced punchy bass but a larger speaker will give a richer sound on the lows, and I still think a larger speaker still feels better even if its muddier.
@@ДамианСимић no because the flip 5 has party boost which means that it can only connect with flip 5s
My friends and I though the 5 in our backpacks when snowboarding great speaker and loud enough for everyone to here
Awesome. Sounds like a good time.
is the flip 5 loud enough for parties?
@@ben3634 yes, bought two days ago, I personally already got a JBL Xtreme 1. Charge 4 is best for bass and battery life. Flip 5 is best for quality listening and portability. Both are good and quality flagship portable speakers on the market. You will never regret on either both of it unless you compare them.
Watching on my jbl flip 5 and deciding to buy Charge 4😃👍
I have the Flip 5 but it dies so quickly when I'm at work just playing music on a full charge. I had my Xtreme 2 and that shit I can bump that all night on a single charge with no issues but that shit is just way too big to have lugging around at work. I think I'll give the Charge 4 a chance.
Maybe how many hours does it last?
Maybe you bought a fake.
Biggest letdown for me with the flip 5 is that there is no Bluetooth 5.0. I’m not sure why they didn’t add that in. It would’ve been the perfect setup having two of them in stereo mode when watching a movie or tv.
Thats why they have party boost
The charge 4 is a good speaker really good good base good Everything
When do you think the charge 5 is coming out?
I'd guess it will come out next summer -- 2020.
So do you think I should buy the charge 4 now or just wait till the charge 5?
Want to hear a joke?
*PARTYBOOST*
That was funny. Well played, lol.
😂😂💀💀
I listened to this video on my flip 5 :)
I'm too 😀
Sir, i want to buy a speaker with pleasant sound and awesome bass.... Please recommend me,,,. Flip 5 or charge 4
personally i would go with the Charge 4. since it have more Bass
but if u want something that's sound clear and crisp go with the Flip 5
Depends on what "awesome" bass means to you. I have two Flip 5s (one for me, one for my wife) and the sound is balanced, clear and crisp. The bass is evident but not "wall-rattling". But it's clean. I listen to everything but mostly contemporary jazz, electronic (deep/tech house, liquid drum and bass), r & b (neo-soul, 80's & 90's hip hop). Hope this helps.
i use jbl charge 4 since 2019, fantastic💪🥰
@@kellyhara3324 u sure?
I got the flip 5 I'm happy
Very cool. Enjoy the speaker!
i have the jbl flip 5, and its really soung great
I agree. It's a great sounding speaker.
Nah
extremely helpful. thanks!!
I’m just waiting for this guy to give us a Woooowww
Woooooowww
Can the jbl charge 4 be put on its side while playing music
Why not
Yes but it doesn't sound that good but yes and it may glitch out but dont worry that wont hurt anything i promise i did it with my charge 3 and it sounds fine
I ordered the Charge 4 a couple days ago so it's probably a bad idea for me to watch this comparison video now.. You say that the Flip 5 has better audio.. Hope I didn't make the wrong choice!
Prototype what now?
yes flip 5 really does sound better and clearer charge 4 sound lil bit muddier like flip 4..
But it’s louder and I just like the loudness of it🙂
Thanks, what a great conclusive review.
What about infinity clubz 750? Any better than those or worse?
Are partyboost technologies compatible with jbl + ?, I mean if they can be connected between both, for example a charge 4 with a flip 5
They are not compatible. As a result, a Charge 4 can't be connected to a Flip 5.
witch one is better for travel
How would the flip 5 do with sand? Would it be ruined if it got in the type c charger, when the flip 4 is covered
Good question. Given it's rating, it should be fine. I can also say that I've taken the cover off of plenty of JBL speakers, and they are sealed up pretty good. You should be fine.
Gracias por los subtitulos :)

I just traded my 2 year old gray flip 4 +$50 bucks for a brand new red charge 4 and am pretty happy with that. Partyboost is a joke
PartyBoost is ridiculous. I completely agree. Not sure why they left JBL Connect+.
Thank you for your good comparison, I need a portable speaker to use in meeting room watching youtube by iPad. I think flip5 is best for me.
#loveJBL
which is better choice, flip or charge?
It really just depends on how you want to use it. If you care more about portability, then I'd recommend the Flip. If you care more about max volume and filling a room with sound, I'd recommend the Charge.
But the Charge 4 can be used as a battery and that's quite tempting😏
Powerbank is cheap from anker. Flip 5 has clearest sound. Just pair 2 flip 5 for loudness in party mode...or pair as stereo
Playing one song for 10 secs does not show the true range of the speakers. I think you made a point to make the flip 5 sound like the better option.
I didn't make a point to make the Flip 5 sound better. You can watch a longer sound test here: ua-cam.com/video/cvklMejlu3E/v-deo.html
Which is better overall?? JBL Flip 5 or Flip 4???
Both are great. It really depends on whether you want to connect anything using an aux cable or not. If you do, get the Flip 4.
Please help me, I Have both, But I Can't set The party boost, Its this possible? Thanks you
GREAT VIDEO !!!! EVERYTHING VERY WELL EXPLAINED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
That battery life is a joke. I just bought the flip 5 to use at work and of course it’s at full volume cause it’s a factory type environment, I get MAYBE 4 hours out of it, and it won’t even stay running on the charger.
I don't think it's a joke. I don't know that you're going to find a speaker with similar specs that holds up much better. Let us know if you do.
Max Dalton It was bought with the purpose of being used at work. It does not fulfill that purpose for even half of an 8 hour day really and it’s advertised at 12 hours. That’s my point. Not worth it, for me at least. Sound quality is awesome though, don’t get me wrong.
@@steveo7771286 It's rated as 12h at around 50% volume bruh.
Defected one bro.. mine high volume last max of 9hrs or so. Flip 5 also.. tryna get charge 4 🔥
The charge 4 and flip 5 are the exact same price on argos so I'm not sure which one to get
If you can deal with the slightly larger size, I'd get the Charge 4.
Get the flip 5 I got mine yesterday its sick
Charge 4
Also went with the charge 4 much more bass than the flip, the flip won't set the mood like the charge does, not as small but still as convinent for portability.
