It's a fun contrast to how sonic just reacts to whatever happens too. I just- I find it really funny how Shadow was shown to be just kinda wandering around on his own, looking for that damn fourth chaos emerald, etc until sonic absolutely just ruined his introvert time with an earthquake and obliterating the universe. Mans was just having fun bouncing into rocks and running around by himself, frolicking fr (joke) And yet despite that, Shadow's pop ups when sonic is running aren't hostile, he's desperate and calling out to him- only to punch him when hes there in person(?) again. This really gives into the "its complicated" explanation sonic used to sum up his rivalry/friendship with him lol. Shadow so far doesn't seem against calling out to sonic for help, but will also hold sonic heavily accountable for his mistakes- which makes me excited to think that'll be his role in future episodes- to keep sonic in line while helping out when all the others are mind-wiped and too not-used to sonic to do so as they usually would. Like- ACTUALLY being sonic's natural opposite without being unreasonably mean and evil/edgy, being the calm and calculated to sonic's hyper and in-the-moment attitude to ground him. This would be very interesting and fun(ny) to see them flesh out the two better this way like they've been doing for the other characters!

It's interesting to see that Rusty seems to have a personality, a merciful one at that, but it's being suppressed by the Counsels programing, and we see, in the pirate universe, where the Counsels grasp is weakened, her personality shines through more
Also atleast they kinda have a reason to not show multiple Shadow’s. He teleported out of the way of the blast that caused everyone to be split, and sense Sonic and Eggman were basically in full contact with the Prism, it would make sense that they’d be affected differently, with Sonic himself gaining the power of the prism, and Eggman, while still being split into five, having all his versions concentrated into one dimension.
To answer your question in the video, my favorite scene is one of those few times the series gets funny and you may have seen the clip multiple times: where Rouge "snuck her way" to Tails' workshop, and by "snuck her way," I mean "went in while the door was left wide open." Also, her "Are you kidding me?" face was just PRICELESS!

Boscage Maze is about Amy, and one could argue Rouge as well. In Amy's case, Thorn Rose is so focused on protecting nature, what she sees as the innocent life to protect, that she doesn't see how her rash actions actually harm it, both by overprotecting it and having the wrong impression that blotting out all the exits help protect it from invasion when in truth the lack of sunlight would be awful for a forest, and by excluding the Scavengers from the community under the impression that they could not be talked to when she hasn't even tried (she passively saw them be ruthless, made a few single attempts, but then gave up and resorted to violence). On the other hand, we have Prism Rouge, the de-facto leader of the Scavengers, labelling Thorn Rose as merely a monster; committing the grave sin of any leader that is dehumanizing a sentient being that could otherwise be rationalized with. She's consistent with that throughout the whole time... ... which is why Sonic is so desperate to find a middle ground; because, even without prior knowledge of the cast, even the audience can tell both factions are intelligent enough to come to a compromise, but also too stubborn to revoke past hasty judgements. No Place is very much about Knuckles. Captain Dread is basically the persona that evokes Knuckles's treasure hunter hobby, but Knux's introverted side shows in Dread just giving up and choosing to simply bask in the moment of life after one traumatic shipwreck accident that prevented him from getting the treasure he sought, making it so he seemingly lost everything; not unlike how the "prime"(/game) Knuckles had lost his entire civilization before he even knew he had them, and thus questions his past during moments of silence, only finding relative periods of peace when finally putting them behind him. And just like game Knuckles, it's the optimism and carefree nature of Sonic that encourages him to not just explore, but finally reach that first goal and put it behind so he can move forward again, even helping him ensure he does reach it. With all that said, I think Nine might've become one of my new favorite characters, but most of the Shatterspace residents are very well executed, even the minor roles are fun. I feel like if Sonic Prime does really well they might bring Big back in future games (and I just realized while typing this that he was in Frontiers, so they aren’t afraid to bring him back) I feel like Big can work as a character if his dumbness isn’t SEVERELY OVERPLAYED, just downplay it to the type of level where it’s the kind of dumb that just cares about everyday ordinary things like Fishing, Taking his pet places, Going shopping for things he needs for the day, Helping the community, Helping people, and Hanging out with friends, heck that might have been what they were going for in Sonic Adventure 1, but the Voice Acting besides Mike Pollock/Eggman was so off like Tikal, Knuckles, Tails, Sonic(only because of the way his mouth was animated), and Amy; that it just soured that aspect/and experience of the game so people mainly focused on Big
I like that scene in ep 6 after Sonic's returned to New Yoke and the Resistance is questioning his commitment. Rebel unveils the last preserved palm tree they've kept safe all this time to drive in the point. You see Sonic's confidence slowly drop and the weight of everything is finally catching up. And like yeah...I got annoyed by the excessive flashbacks in this show as well. But this is one place where they actually fitted to the scene and emphasized a story beat. Prime Sonic's still your usual Sonic at the core. So, despite how hopeless everything is feeling, he charges that feeling of defeat into determination to make things right. Tries to help the Resistance fight back. Nice video by the way, captures all my thoughts exactly on the show so far.
I still feel like Rouge and Big are very odd choices for additional characters. Where's Cream? Where's Tikal? I assume they'll be saving those for when they actually introduce Chao as like, a thing.
this show really made me realize that sonic the hedgehog is and has always been and probably always will be a far better franchise outside the game's the very medium it originated in
To add to your flashbacks comments. I personally don’t mind them because I always thought they added a more emotional appeal to the show and explained Sonic’s motivation and his emotions towards the memories he slowly starts to remember as the season goes on. And to answer your question. My favorite scene (actually one of my favorite scenes) is after sonic finally gets tails, knuckles, rouge, and Amy (but as their doppelgängers) back together working as a team and their fighting off egg man’s evil robots and knuckles is kind of losing hope to the fight. And sonic says something like, “ah come on, you really don’t believe that. Do you?” And then knuckles throws up a barrel to which sonic catches it with his feet mid air going through the lasers that finally takes down all the robots and leaves a giant hole in the center of the egg man head quarters building. And some of the civilians are cheering Sonic on and finally feel hopeful again calling sonic a hero. I love that scene so much because it shows how sonic is ambitious and I loved how he proved knuckles wrong and shocked everyone else.
I don’t think anyone would argue with me if I said that the Sonic vs. Shadow fight is my favorite scene in the series. It perfectly shows off their abilities and is noticeably better than every other fight in the series, though those are also still great.
My favorite scene is when Nine is hacking the computer and beats the robot like he was nothing! And when he made the camera moditer say"You've been hacked by Nine, haha!" And when Rouge told Amy that Sonic bought a cocoa nut cream pie and told Amy that he made it. And when Rusty Rose said "Sonic is the captain?" Their facial expressions were priceless!
My favorite scene in Sonic Prime was when Thorn and the scavengers realized the error of their ways and excepted their faults. While in the Boscage Maze, Sonic had been emulating what Amy would've done in his shoes and managed to get through to Thorn. It was both gratifying and heartwarming to see Sonic appreciate how great Amy is.
If I got a nickel every time a famous 80s franchise got a good live action adaptation and then a good animated series with "Prime" in its name I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice.
Before watching this video, i think sonic prime clearly focuses on sonic learning to understand his friends different perspectives and learn to sometimes listen to his friends advice
As much times as Sonic’s charisma and compassion wins his friends over, there were also times when Sonic did certain things that would give him the wrong reaction from him. I know it’s mainly in the past, like the Archie Comics (before issue 180 in late 2007), Sonic X (like those times when Knuckles threatened to fight (instead of fight alongside) Sonic because he thinks Sonic cares more about himself than his friends (like those times when Sonic made himself unavailable for Amy to date him) like in episodes 5, episode 41 and episode 56) and Sonic Riders trilogy (mainly Free Riders, at least the first two games were badass!)
I really liked the action scene where Sonic was chasing Thorn Rose in the Boscage Maze. I look forward to more Sonic prime, it’s my favorite series so far other than Boom and X
One Sonic and One Shadow so far. Sonic even brings it up over in The Grim that there may even be multiple versions of himself. If the writers are bringing it up, then it's setting things up for the future. It's called Foreshadowing.
My favourite scene has to be the scene where they all introduce themselves and the laser randomly appears and they just crouch every 5 seconds to not get destroyed lmao😂😂 I swear its literally a minecraft crouch😂 But my second favourite is ‘You left the door open.’
I really like the Grim, the idea of it being a blank slate with no life seems really interesting, and I feel like it will be the place where Sonic and Shadow try to recreate the original world.
Maybe we should’ve spent at least the first two episodes in the prime verse so as to avoid the idea of having constant flash backs, develop some empathy for the prime versions of the center characters and lastly to show an impulsive behavioral pattern that Sonic has in the way he treats the prime versions of his friends. One of which the rest of the show needs to break/change. With all of that said, though I still enjoy the show, I just wish that it would slow down a little more.
I have a few favorite scenes. The scene in episode 2 where Sonic’s trying to stall thinking Nine has a plain when he doesn’t. I believe the facial animation expressions where at its best there. I love the scene when Sonic talks to the palm tree before tricking Thorn into lunching her hammer so the sun can shine on the forest once more. Idk why. It’s just a really sweet moment along with everything afterwards. I have more, but we’d be here all day if I added them.I just love this show so much. 😋💙
18:39 I really like the lighting in bushcagemaze. I think the floor level is ment to represent thorn rose's feelings. When she is shutting everyone out, the lighting is dark, but when she starts to open up to sonic, it gets a bit lighter. Until she gets the shard and it's dark once more. right up until the talk between her and the scavengers, where it's really light
I loved rusty rose. Taking the most compassionate character and turning her into a cold monster is super interesting. And I really wanna see how they handle her development
10:13 well you see sonic and shadow are the only ones who aren't affected by the shattering of the prism so they don't get different interpretations while the secondary cast does
Why are there no other versions of Sonic and Shadow? I mean... Sonic destroyed the paradox prism, he absorbed the energy of said prism thus BECOMING the paradox; an individual who now exists in a version of reality that he should not exist in. Shadow not existing in other realities is pretty simple to explain using chaos control he was able to free himself from the effects of the prism shattering I mean he even elaborated on it when they met in the shatterverse in episode 8.
I think lore wise for no extra Shadow or Sonic is simple. For one, Sonic has the energy of the Prism flowing through him which is also how he's able to track down the shards, so it makes sense another Sonic wouldn't exist that way. Shadow on the other hand, as you said, used Chaos Control to escape the huge explosion and was left in the void between Shatter Spaces. I believe him not being present in a split moment caused him to technically not exist, and thus get stuck between Spaces. Separately, I absolutely HATE how Sonic needs to learn to be nice to his friends. Why? Why is he an asshole that needs a constantly appearing omnipresent Palm Tree to tell him "Don't be mean bro." That's my biggest issue with the show so far.
Season 2 is coming on July 13th, so it’s not too long of a wait. Hopefully. Oh, and my favourite scene was……… *Sonic is the captain? [blinks to make sure] I wish i were programmed to laugh.*
To be honest, if Chrome just adopted JXL we could replace all jpg, png, and gif files. On the other hand, I think gif has just become the word for animated image and gets used with apng already.
My favorite scene is the one where Sonic speed rows pirate Amy, Rouge, and Tails back to the ship because the faces they make while sonic takes them back are hilarious.
the reason shadow and sonic didn't get split across the shatter verse is because they weren't caught in the blast so they didn't get split into multiple versions of themselves
As a longtime sonic fan I genuinely loved this series! I actually binged every episode and felt I had to slow down to explain its faat pace, as mentioned, but still good nonetheless!
There's a simple reason Sonic and Shadow don't have varients. Sonic and Shadow are each other's variants. Mirror-version polar-opposites style. With 24 episodes we'll have plenty of time to explore them.
Rusty Rose: Quite Hedgehog I'm adressing the Captain Pirate Rouge: He be the Captain! Rusty Rose (dropping the robot voice, breaking the 4th wall): Sonic is the Captain? I wish I was program to laugh. Sence was freaking hilarious
This movie is kind of like shrek forever after because in both movies the main characters get into a parallel universe and no friend knows them anymore.
As a non-native english speaker, before I turned on subtitles for Sonic Prime, I initially thought it was "New Yolk City", because it's ruled by Eggmen... you know, because "egg yolk"...
I also didn't get the palm tree thing. If they wanted a symbol of friendship, why choose such a common thing? Then in the jungle world, it looked like it was sentient and in the cyber punk world, the rebels keep it in a jar or something.
Frankly, Shadow has no right to be mad at Sonic. Yes he wanted to tell Sonic something, but who goes around punching people to tell them something. Shadow locked his eyes on Sonic who was minding his own business and collecting rings and rammed him instantly! Shouldn't Shadow have said "Sonic, I need to talk to you!"? Even when he slammed Sonic into a rock, Shadow could've talked to Sonic then. But he attempted to smash Sonic through the rock! I just saying, if you wanna talk with someone, talk! Don't attack them right off the bat and think they'll listen to a word you say. Heck, they were talking while they were fighting! Shadow could've said what he had to say then! Why doesn't he just talk to Sonic like a normal person? GOSH!
I knew you'd review this series after those two shorts you made. I agree that this is the best Sonic cartoon to date along with other things, and hoping that Netflix doesn't continue the trend of pulling the plugs on their cartoons, Season 2 will expand the series to its fullest potential. Pros: • Nice animation (CGI and 16-bit scenes) • Great fights • Good casting choices (except Shadow because he isn't supposed to laugh or make jokes) • Rouge is modest for once, proving that she doesn't have to be showing her (B-double O-B-S) in order for her to be attractive • Even if it's not the funniest show for the Blue Blur, the jokes that are in the show actually make me laugh Cons: • Not enough Shatter Spaces (so far) • Feels a bit weird that Shadow is against Sonic while Rouge isn't • Too many flashbacks Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
I hope that in the next season, we go to one of the other tv show worlds like sonic X or Boom or the 1990s sonic show with the freedom fighters, and I hope we get more characters like team chaotix in season 2 also small thing if this is canon to the video games then I think it should be somewhat early on in the timeline like between adventure 2 and before sonic unleashed like around where the story book games take place (now that I think of it this show is like the story book games in the fact that its taking place in another dimension with different versions of each character so I guess for a few years sonic just had to deal with being stuck in alternate dimensions constantly lol)
IIRC, one of the writers said this show is technically canon to the mainline games. Unless is explicitly stated in the show, I will continue to view Prime as a separate entity. Also, it would be cool if characters like Team Chaotix or Blaze show up. That would make Prime 10x more enjoyable.
The tone of New Yoke City is pretty much what Sonic Forces should have been. Gritty, dark, despair, and more bleak elements like Amy, one of the most empathetic characters, becoming cold and robotic. Literally.
Actually now that I think about it, isn’t that part in the intro kinda backwards? Atleast in the sense of the first 2 episodes. Sonic gets teleported to an alternative world with no memory of anything before that, and all he has to go off are images playing in his mind.
The reason why there is only one Sonic is because he collided with the crystal and there is only one shadow is because when the crystal broke apart he used chaos control
"He experiences weird side effects like electric shoes and a character arc." Best line delivery ever.

Moral of the story: boom got *more better*
My favorite scene is when Nine is hacking the computer and beats the robot like he was nothing! And when he made the camera moditer say"You've been hacked by Nine, haha!" And when Rouge told Amy that Sonic bought a cocoa nut cream pie and told Amy that he made it. And when Rusty Rose said "Sonic is the captain?" Their facial expressions were priceless!
I love the Chaos Council.
They are all eggmans but have there own personalitys.
This is another of my favorites, It's up there with Sonic X and Sonic Boom on my top 3. I can't wait to see it continue.
My favorite scene is where sonic and the pirate crew party maybe for this awesome netflix series that shows sonic respectful person then boom sonic
If I got a nickel every time a famous 80s franchise got a good live action adaptation and then a good animated series with "Prime" in its name I'd have two nickels, which isn't much but it's weird that it happened twice.
I mean, I realize there's nothing more eighties than the early nineties, but Sonic came out in 1991, having been developed in 1990 at the earliest.
2:26 I hear that Jester 3 soundtrack!
Good stuff dude👌
Before watching this video, i think sonic prime clearly focuses on sonic learning to understand his friends different perspectives and learn to sometimes listen to his friends advice
I like how Shadow is correcting everyone like he knows everything!
I’m excited for what comes next. Sonic’s charisma and compassion wins his friends over. Maybe he and shadow could come to a truce of sorts
Don't worry we just have to watch all 8 episodes if we feel like it and give it a thumbs up then netflix will give it a season 2
Great video! 👍 You’ve got pretty good points
“Hahahaha you’ll been hacked by Nine”
My favourite part.
One Sonic and One Shadow so far. Sonic even brings it up over in The Grim that there may even be multiple versions of himself. If the writers are bringing it up, then it's setting things up for the future. It's called Foreshadowing.
My favourite scene has to be the scene where they all introduce themselves and the laser randomly appears and they just crouch every 5 seconds to not get destroyed lmao😂😂
I swear its literally a minecraft crouch😂
But my second favourite is ‘You left the door open.’
I really like the Grim, the idea of it being a blank slate with no life seems really interesting, and I feel like it will be the place where Sonic and Shadow try to recreate the original world.
Theory: it is the original world. Shadow said that home doesn't exist anymore, but what if it does, but it's been wiped clean by the prism shattering?
Maybe we should’ve spent at least the first two episodes in the prime verse so as to avoid the idea of having constant flash backs, develop some empathy for the prime versions of the center characters and lastly to show an impulsive behavioral pattern that Sonic has in the way he treats the prime versions of his friends. One of which the rest of the show needs to break/change. With all of that said, though I still enjoy the show, I just wish that it would slow down a little more.
Big no longer has that dead stare in his eyes.
Like he would stare into your soul.
god i LOVE the humor in this. paired with the neutral/serious voice, it’s just brilliant. also great video!
2:24 I was not expecting to hear spark the electric jester music
Man, it would be cool if Prime could go to the Boom universe in one episode. That would be amazing.
Based off what shadow said green hill isn't a shatterspace because the shatterspaces are seemingly broken off of the main universe with green hill
10:13 well you see sonic and shadow are the only ones who aren't affected by the shattering of the prism so they don't get different interpretations while the secondary cast does
Oh without a doubt, the entire stairwell fight is my favourite scene.
Why are there no other versions of Sonic and Shadow? I mean... Sonic destroyed the paradox prism, he absorbed the energy of said prism thus BECOMING the paradox; an individual who now exists in a version of reality that he should not exist in.
Shadow not existing in other realities is pretty simple to explain using chaos control he was able to free himself from the effects of the prism shattering I mean he even elaborated on it when they met in the shatterverse in episode 8.
hell i would love to see the show go have sonic revisit the early sonic cartoons and yes even underground
Cyber corruption isn’t so much dying as it is one’s existence being in flux between cyberspace and reality.
Season 2 coming out in july13th
Hopefully.
Oh, and my favourite scene was………
*Sonic is the captain? [blinks to make sure] I wish i were programmed to laugh.*
To be honest, if Chrome just adopted JXL we could replace all jpg, png, and gif files. On the other hand, I think gif has just become the word for animated image and gets used with apng already.
I loved the pirate universe the best, but I blame sea shanties for that
"Oh, did I mention he's DYING?!" absolutely had me cackling
That shadow impression was spot on
What if the reason there aint copies of Sonic and Shadow has something to do with their speed matching the shards energy
I don't call it dumb luck per say. Sonic doesn't know what ability he's given in each world until it's triggered. It's probably animal instinct.
I love all the scenes with Nine, such a cool variant of tails.
So
I dont have netflix anymore
And season 2 is getting near
God damn it
Rusty Rose: Quite Hedgehog I'm adressing the Captain
Pirate Rouge: He be the Captain!
Rusty Rose (dropping the robot voice, breaking the 4th wall): Sonic is the Captain? I wish I was program to laugh.
Sence was freaking hilarious
my favorite scene is sonic meeting nine in "the yokes on you"
This movie is kind of like shrek forever after because in both movies the main characters get into a parallel universe and no friend knows them anymore.
My favorite scene: the slow motion barrel scene in episode 3
As a non-native english speaker, before I turned on subtitles for Sonic Prime, I initially thought it was "New Yolk City", because it's ruled by Eggmen... you know, because "egg yolk"...
I also didn't get the palm tree thing. If they wanted a symbol of friendship, why choose such a common thing? Then in the jungle world, it looked like it was sentient and in the cyber punk world, the rebels keep it in a jar or something.
Because in the alternate worlds, particularly the main cyber one, it isn’t a common item
Also we see its one of the special memories they all had with eachother.i was hoping it would be like a memory with more characters but its still nice
Sonic Prime and Sonic Boom are my favorite Sonic cartoons!
5:54 What the Heck was that running animation? 😂
GOSH!
Where sonic gets hit by a vehicle the second he enters new yoke city (I found it hilarious)
I don’t know this all of them are so good, but I will tell you, my favorite character nine
I knew you'd review this series after those two shorts you made. I agree that this is the best Sonic cartoon to date along with other things, and hoping that Netflix doesn't continue the trend of pulling the plugs on their cartoons, Season 2 will expand the series to its fullest potential.
Pros:
• Nice animation (CGI and 16-bit scenes)
• Great fights
• Good casting choices (except Shadow because he isn't supposed to laugh or make jokes)
• Rouge is modest for once, proving that she doesn't have to be showing her (B-double O-B-S) in order for her to be attractive
• Even if it's not the funniest show for the Blue Blur, the jokes that are in the show actually make me laugh
Cons:
• Not enough Shatter Spaces (so far)
• Feels a bit weird that Shadow is against Sonic while Rouge isn't
• Too many flashbacks
Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
I hope that in the next season, we go to one of the other tv show worlds like sonic X or Boom or the 1990s sonic show with the freedom fighters, and I hope we get more characters like team chaotix in season 2
also small thing if this is canon to the video games then I think it should be somewhat early on in the timeline like between adventure 2 and before sonic unleashed like around where the story book games take place (now that I think of it this show is like the story book games in the fact that its taking place in another dimension with different versions of each character so I guess for a few years sonic just had to deal with being stuck in alternate dimensions constantly lol)
IIRC, one of the writers said this show is technically canon to the mainline games. Unless is explicitly stated in the show, I will continue to view Prime as a separate entity. Also, it would be cool if characters like Team Chaotix or Blaze show up. That would make Prime 10x more enjoyable.
@@lysander789 The writer should take that back because it make’s absolutely no sense
@@lysander789 When one of the writers says that, then its Canon.
@@thefastcommenter7774 But if he said it so......
I hope we see silver and blaze in this season 2 sonic prime
Did my guy say nickles the achidna at 13:12 😭
Favorite Scene gotta be the boat race.
Raw af (Protest City in the background made it better)
Sonic already has a multiverse, Blaze the cat. Fingers crossed she makes an appearance in the future
Yea
The tone of New Yoke City is pretty much what Sonic Forces should have been. Gritty, dark, despair, and more bleak elements like Amy, one of the most empathetic characters, becoming cold and robotic. Literally.
my favorite scene is when shadow punches sonic in the face
Thats funny
If Netflix screws this show over.... I'ma hurt them!
This show is the closest we get to a canon sonic show
I don’t know why they made it canon that was a stupid idea
@The Fast Commenter unify Sonic experience.
also isn't the same sonic.
X???
@@thefastcommenter7774 yeah
Actually now that I think about it, isn’t that part in the intro kinda backwards? Atleast in the sense of the first 2 episodes. Sonic gets teleported to an alternative world with no memory of anything before that, and all he has to go off are images playing in his mind.
Where is this quote (12:04) from?
my favorite scene is that when knuckles use's his spin dash and nine to
Will they ever go to the other zones in South Island?
This show looks like the shadow759 gmod animations.
Those are better than this garbage show anyways
The time when sonic was surprised to have more sea dogs and haaaaaaaaaa😂
The reason why there is only one Sonic is because he collided with the crystal and there is only one shadow is because when the crystal broke apart he used chaos control
I love the end
The introduction to thorn rose.
my favorite scene was when sonic was in the hamsterball
