I have talked to many that weren’t accepted so I know what you say is true. Have seen rabbi state that they have to go through the rabbinic assembly in Israel to be completely accepted. That’s horrific to dig up someone and kick them out of their resting place 😢 It’s crazy that they are making it that difficult when born Jews aren’t living like they want a convert to live. If they hold the same expectations on born Jews, they wouldn’t even be considered to be Jewish by those standards.

My personal feeling is that if I can show Jewish ancestry (not necessarily Jewish faith) on both sides of my family and I choose to go back to the religion of my ancestors and want to return to Israel the land of my ancestors promised to me through my ancestry by G-d, NO one should try to deny me the right of return to my ancestral homeland!
Blake, I agree with what you’re saying. But now a days some conservative shuls are so far left that it is difficult to differentiate between conservative and reform. Where does that put people like you and I that are in the middle? Modern orthodox?
The conservative movement has the rabbinical assembly and allows their rabbis to chose from the majority or the minority opinion which means that if you walk into one conservative congregation that may not resemble another conservative congregation.
In the Tanakh and its commentary there are several instances of supposed conversion. The mixed multitude that left Egypt. Ruth, those on the ship with Jonah and so on. But they dont seem to have gone through such a rigourous process. I would also be curious to know what other groups such as Bukharians, Beta Israel, Temani process is/was for conversion. Did Dhu Nawas go through such a process ? Surely this is not an assessment that can be made by other 'men' ? The Torah many times mentions the proselyte living amongst the people but it never seems so prohibitive on their acceptance
Love your insights always. How very sad for those that are converting as they feel is best only to have the rabbinic assembly deny them at the end or over turn their conversion. It’s maddening to me to think that they (the rabbinic assembly) have the power that unearth someone who has been buried and move their body when they decide to overturn their previous conversion. It depends on the branch reform I took a course for 6 months 800.00 US dollars and you tell your rabbi you want to convert you meet with the Bet Din and rabbi and go in the Mikvah
thank you for your videos- information and insight. i agree with the majority of what you are saying. there is one thing that i respectfully disagree. reform conversions at most temples. males do not have to undergo brit mila and mikvah. temple potlucks say no meat. the level of knowledge is so low that many do not know that shellfish is prohibited. congregants on the bima with the ark open torah taken out- halter tops. most males refuse to cover their heads. st some conservative synagogues the stove is used .the teapot whistles duting the torag reading. the person doing it is a bima officer. makes convert students think that is permissible. a large doner gets to do whatever they want. it depends on the synagogue officers. the president and treasurer. many have left the synagogue because it has no standards. reform jews have dropped ritual messianic (christian) churches disguised as synagogues use all the jewish rituals. on the positive note: as i am old and very far from jewish houses of worship i " attend" via youtube. i wish the synagogue that i attended would conduct themselves as i does a particular synagogue. conservative with tsfillin. however the clergy and administration has a house of worship permeated with respect for the torah and each other. its lovely, spiritual. heat-warming.
most of these problems are Ashkenazic ruling issues, why i feel the Sephardic way and perspective is the future for our faith. They have become drunk on worldly power and refuse ti humble to what torah teaches
Almost seems impossible. With Israel requiring non Jewish people to convert to Orthodox Judaism to be able to become a citizen. When there are Jewish born people that are actual atheists. People take the time to learn about the faith, do the whole process to convert only to have it taken away from them? That is wrong. I do agree with you, who are we to judge someone to say they are Jewish enough? Honestly, I've thought of converting but after this, not so sure, especially if someone can take it away from you.
You are certainly a fine upstanding Jew. However until you've learned the many intensive years in yeshiva Gemarah studies, I would seriously hesitate to state those opinions you presented here. Opinions are never fact. Our heritage has always depended on intense, deep learning, never on opinions. I respect your opinions as personal attitude not as scholarly research and study. Yeah! So any Jewish individual who's mother is Jewish can live a non Jewish non religious life, but according to the Orthodox Jewish community they're STILL Jewish. Where's the sense in that ? I'm a non practising Protestant Christian who'd like to convert to Judaism. After watching this video I'm still not sure which denomination of Judaism to convert to. Maybe Kabbalah.
Orthodox Judaism is where observant Jews take Judaism seriously as a whole...meaning you'll see children, and young adults involved who are observant. Other sects aren't as observant.

I've never been spoonfed information. I've always been taught in Orthodoxy to learn yourself and look into these things with sources etc.
