I've spent over 45 years installing flooring. I learned from my grandfather. I learned patterning vinyl flooring and there is one basic difference. Being extremely accurate when flat is easy peasy. 😁 I made notes and lineup marks all over my patterns too. Like you said, consistency is crucial. I don't do what you do, but I love the way you present the task at hand and thoroughly describe the process in such an easy to understand way.
If you are going to make both sides . Is it possible to use the pattern for the other side and how hard would that be. Ive never done a whole panel in one piece. My smaller work is first side is good but the other side could be better. Thanks for your series. Teaching an old dog new tricks.
Another excellent video! What if you don’t have a part to make a pattern from, is the another way to get make a pattern? Thanks again for the great information
Video was great, definitely learned a few things. I'm curious to know what your opinion on Wray Schelin's flexible shape pattern technique is? Obviously, its another way of getting the same result. But, more specifically I'm wondering what your pros and cons of his technique versus your paper technique would be?
Personally i dont like the flexible pattern. It doesnt give you any real information of what you need other than a hollow flexible mold to aim for. Plus it is more for stretch shape work, where as i mainly work in shrink shaping. To get the information i want i would have to cut the pattern apart and get it to lay flat which then becomes just a paper pattern made from tape
I love the detail explanations. It's like attending a master class.
