There's not more of a representation for vintage Miami Hurricane and Dallas Cowboy football than Michael Irvin. Dude was one of the funnest, most entertaining and competitive football players and WINNERS I've ever seen.
I started going to the Hurricanes' games in the early 60s and eventually it happened... The U became a powerhouse. irvin was a tremendous player, but few know that he practiced ALL THE TIME. As a broke college kid he found out that Steve Walsh would be the starting QB and so he flew up to Minnesota to train day after day for hours and hours until the two were in perfect sync. Irvin put his heart and soul into his craft and he was amazing. I am also taken with how many times Testaverde was in a 3rd and long situation but managed to pull out a first down or a TD. The U was in a class of its own. And we haven't even begun to mention the defense, running backs, linebackers or linemen. No wonder they ran over everyone! They never never quit despite the team, the odds, or being down toward the end of the game.
Mike was taken 11th in 88 by the Cowboys.... Tim Brown and Sterling sharp were taken ahead of him 6th and 7th... I know those guys are good but as a Cowboys fan I'd take the playmaker over both
we dont know what sharpe couldve been because of injury derailing his career but he was a great player.. tim brown was a great player too but i feel like he was just a stat machine.. like he put up incredible numbers but you dont really remember anything he did.. he reminds me of larry fritzgerald in that way.. dude played a very long time with no significant injuries and just compiled stats.. other than the SB larry played in i dont really remember anything he did and i feel the same way about tim brown.. but michael irvin was EVERYTHING you wanted in a football player.. an unselfish leader.. some one who wanted the ball in crunch time with the game on the line.. so many memories of irvin running that slant route and taking it to the house.. 3x SB winner.. i know everyone will come at me in the comments but idc but id take him over rice.. i just love his vocal leadership and his mental fortitude when the game was on the line.. to me and i know this sounds crazy but i think hes underrated for sure.. you look at the middle of his career when he finally got over the injury bug and they drafted aikman and put together and offense, his stats were as good as anyones during those 5 years of his prime.. and he only played 11 years, and in an offense that was the only offense, at that time, for a few seasons to run it more than they threw it.. just think of what he couldve done in a west coast offense that threw the ball 40x a game, the offense that basically made jerry rice
If sharpe never got injured. He may have gone down as the career leader in total receptions and probably on the Mt Rushmore of WR He was amazing. Downtown Timmy Brown played on some bad teams w questionable QB play. Irvin was still a beast. Nobody can deny that Stacked draft similar to this upcoming draft w 3 stud WRs
I was thinking of some classic players you could make long highlights of if you have the time Case Keenum Kellen Moore Graham Harrell Vince Young Colt Brennan Michael Crabtree Colt McCoy
Great video but there was no National TItle Game in 1987. It was the Orange Bowl game which was defacto for the national title. Should say Orange Bowl.
its looks like irvin burned deion sanders on a regular basis at miami. also, imagine how much faster these old school guys wouldve been had they not had to wear those big ass shoulder pads, or line up in 3pt stance from the wide receiver position.

The U was such a dominant powerhouse in the 80's --- struck fear into every opponent they faced --- The Playmaker was part of that wrecking crew!
Michael The Playmaker Irvin 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Oh my goodness The Playmaker at the U!!!!
Yoo!! It’s finally been done! Thank you!!! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Thanks much for this. Simply awesome to see a pleasant time of yesterday

Thank you so much, Colton Denning. Keep with the great work 👍. Could you please upload in the near future a Vinny Testaverde Miami highlights video?
To think wide receivers used to be in a 3 point stance is crazy the game evolved so much🤯🤯
Legend
Wide Receivers in a 3 point stance is wild lol
Man I’m glad I see this comment bc I was like am I tripping
Greatest five wide outs in Miami Hurricane program history: Micheal Irvin, Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Lamar Thomas, and Randall Hill.

@@johncollins9989 I second that brother.... I'm taking the playmaker over any receiver

Who's here after the Miami/ Virginia Tech game ?!

Y did the receivers get in a 3 point stance?
Man I miss the big pads era
🙌
Do Vince young Peyton Manning or jamarcus Russell

You might of seen about 2 or 3 receptions against deion how is that a regular basis? Stop the cap
Tone he's right Irvin destroyed deion
Great video but why the F is he number 47 ? He come on campus as a FB ?😂
Testaverde was a bad man in college.
Mike... shoot the med ball like a basketball
Why was testaverde so trash in the nfl
he didn't have michael irvin :D
Injuries
That offensive line was giving Vinny a lot time to get his target. We don't hear that name mentioned much among great qb's. It was a stacked era.
A REAL HURRICANE Woooooooo bleeds green and orange
receivers being in a 3-point stance is so cringe lol
Why? That shit was gangsta
