I am so glad I found this video! We are going to Glacier very soon for 2 weeks. Your video has sparked my excitement of photographing there again. We were there last Spring before the GTTSR was open, hoping it will be open for us this year. Your shots were amazing BTW!
Thanks for taking us along Jay. Not many people could hit 10 locations in 5 days, and create outstanding work at every single one of them.... not to mention doing the blog thing at the same time. Sometime tell us all how you prepare for a trip like this; with the success shown here, your planning technique is worth study.
Thanks! Yes, I was blessed with some interesting skies. Your videos were very helpful. Unfortunately, eastern parts of the park were closed to due Covid. I will have to go back!
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing. Don’t miss Yellowstone in the morning and also you can get amazing textures in the Grand Prismatic Spring area water with a CPL.
Thanks for taking us along.. I’m planning a trip in August would you mind sharing where you stayed there? Also that took some nerve hiking in alone in the dark much respect
Jay ! Thank you for an incredible journey . I migh be heading that direccion on my Birthday in about two weeks . Any idea how is this time of year to try out the same trail and points? Any suggestions as far as safety and equippement. I loved every single shot you shared. I wanted a special place to celebrate my 50th Birthday .
Great video and stunning images Jay, I was fortunate enough to make my way up to Glacier back in the mid 90's unfortunately my time was very limited so basically it was just a drive and shoot tour but I found it to be an amazing region. I took notes on the areas you mentioned for any future visit that I may make.
Great compositions jay, great shots glad I stumbled upon this video. I was just there early September and was blown away by the forest and be colors and my favorite thing was the MOSS. I am from Arizona so that stuff doesn’t exists around me. Thank you for the video.
I really enjoyed the video, such great info! Can you please tell me the name of the hotel you stayed at? Also, which airport did you fly into? Thank you!
Thanks Mark. Great question!. Drones are now allowed in National Parks. I actually shot this drone nearby at the National Forest in Hungry Horse Montana which is also quite nice.
Hi great video. looks like you had some drone video in the intro of the video. would you mind sharing which area that is ?. I think drone would not be allowed inside in the park boundaries ?
Wow what an awesome trip Jay! I think Sun Point was my favorite, the sunrise was awesome and the sunset - while crazy windy - was such cool conditions. What don't hop the fence sign? I didnt see it.... haha. Excellent vid, I enjoyed this one a lot!
Hey JC, do you mind sharing the what equipment do you use for vlogging? Also, for the Sun point location, where did you park, did you take the turn-off of the Going to the Sun road as seen on google maps?. Also did you at all explore or go to the "Rising Sun" picnic area. Wondering how is the view there compared to the "Sun point"
Thanks for the questions. Regarding my vlogging set-up. I use a Sony rx100vii which has a flip up screen and a Joby tripod (about 1 foot I think). I have a small, cheap Saramonic mic for sound which attaches to the camera. For the Sun Point shot, I just took the turn off of Going to the Sun road and there is a big parking lot there. It is not a long hike from the parking lot (500 yards maybe). Parts of the park were closed due to Covid and I was told that Rising sun was not accessible. I did not try going that far East. Any other questions, let me know.
THERE IS NOTHING "TREACHEROUS" about the Highline (I hiked it a dozen times or so). NOTHING. I lived near Glacier for 35 years. Hiked nearly every trail in the park. Summited peaks over 100 times. The highline is 'relatively flat', gaining maybe 700 ft. near Haystack Butte. To Granite Park Chalet, it's a bit over 7 miles. Descending to the loop another 4 miles. Takes an average hiker about 4 hours to accomplish. Try the trail to the other chalet, Sperry. That gains 3500 ft. over 7 miles. Not treacherous either, just long and arduous. It's the mountains, at the continental divide. If you want treacherous, climb Mt. Reynolds. It's only class 3 with exposure (some consider treacherous), but the best views from anywhere in the park.....
Thanks, this video is very helpful. Going to Glacier National Park next September.
Enjoy!!
great video and behind scenes footage! I hope this helps me become a better photographer! Also tip: next time go to Many Glacier!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there in 2020 but I plan on returning!!
nice work! good tips!

Thank you Carl. There were actually some good spots that were closed due to Covid. I will have to go back.

Thanks Agustin! It is high up on my list.
Great shots😁! I am going there sept 13-18. Any advice for photography locations for someone who doesn’t want to hike too much ?
Thanks for taking us along.. I’m planning a trip in August would you mind sharing where you stayed there? Also that took some nerve hiking in alone in the dark much respect
Hi Tommy. Sorry for the delay. I stayed at Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. Decent location and not so expensive. New building.

Any suggestions as far as safety and equippement.
I loved every single shot you shared.
I wanted a special place to celebrate my 50th Birthday .
I was there in September and it was very nice. Starts to get a little colder in October. Snow by November I believe.
OMG Jay! How good is this place. Great shots and thanks for sharing the location ideas. I forgot you have those bears there though lol.
It was a great trip Adrian. I need to go out west more often!

Thanks Rich. There were some parts of the park that were closed due to the coronavirus. I too will have to go back and do more shooting!

Thanks Samuel. I saw some great moss around Avalanche Gorge but could not capture it well. Worth another trip!
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot that’s exactly where I found it at lol. I could spend all day doing that hike cedar loop to avalanche lake
I really enjoyed the video, such great info! Can you please tell me the name of the hotel you stayed at? Also, which airport did you fly into? Thank you!
Thanks Sena. I stayed at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. I flew into Glacier Park International Airport.
Gained a follower! Great shots. I noticed some drone footage. What are the rules/laws of drones in GNP?
Thanks Mark. Great question!. Drones are now allowed in National Parks. I actually shot this drone nearby at the National Forest in Hungry Horse Montana which is also quite nice.
Going in July, appreciate this, got plenty of ideas for some shots and areas! Dreading the crowds though 😫
Great video also by the way 👍
So jealous! Are you on IG? Would love to see some of your shots.
Hi great video. looks like you had some drone video in the intro of the video. would you mind sharing which area that is ?. I think drone would not be allowed inside in the park boundaries ?
Great point! I shot the drone footage in the National Forest area just south of the park. Near an area called Hungry Horse.
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot Thank you

Thanks Paul. It was a great trip. I highly recommend it if you can get away.
@@JCImagesBehindtheShot Oh yeah, that went right to the list haha!
Could you share what tri pod you are using and a wide angle len?
The wide angle lens is a Nikon 16-35mm f/4. The tripod I was using was a Mefoto travel tripod. Thanks for watching Amanda!

Drone?
Yes but the drone shots were not taken in Glacier. Just outside at the national forest.
So you flew a drone in a National Park?
Great question! No I did not fly a drone in the park. The drone footage came from the national forest outside of the park.
Glad the bears didn’t get you. Great video.
Thanks Ian! Me too!
