It doesn't matter who is in power. We as a nation never had a strong record of social welfare schemes for citizens. All schemes are remain on paper and actual implementation is not that great irrespective of which government is in power.

I am a retired employee getting only EPS'95 pension to the tune of Rs.2506/- pm only. Now with continuous fall in interest rates on bank savings my monthly income fell by 35%.. This has forced me to curtail even the daily needs. Now it becomes difficult to receive my close relatives with minimal standard of hospitality.

Middle class in India should also look at career options in politics and public service. The Indian middle class is generally timid and want to play safe and want others to do the work for them. They are not willing to make sacrifices only want to eat the cake. Instead of facing the challenge head on, most of the parents prepare their children to send them to west and settle there, with a resigned voice, "India me kuch nahi hona wala". West was not built overnight, the earlier generation made lot of sacrifices to build their country and the institutions.

In Bangalore some of my relatives and friends lost their breadwinner and the families are with loans spent on the deceased Covid patient, no income and they are struggling to survive but the Karnataka Government has not shown any future for them. Your editorial will at least open their eyes.
Recently, my IT deduction shot up. I checked with the company's accountant and was told that the govt. rebate expired. I barely got its benefit for two months. It was hard af to get a job in the pandemic. But the deduction was significant. Enough to hurt. It hurts to know that the Indian government wants to squeeze every last dime from us. No help coming, sir. Like the PM said in his first webcast, we're all on our own.
Sir, We were not middle class two decades ago, below middle class and slightly above poor class. Later we had the economy opening, slowly economy started picking up and new products, new shops, new jobs opened up and we became middle class. But now middle class have voted thinking that days will be better, and and they got only the paper written " good day". Middle class have been hit by this Govt very badly, in police terms, third degree treatment. 1. Removing the subsidies for fuel, gas, even on DTH on which they had to pay double. 2. Brought in demonitisation, where savings of the house wives and elderly had been badly hit. 3.Started squeezing by limiting the cash transactions. 4. Removed certain benefits in tax on housing and company provided housing 5. Removed subsidies in company run canteens and transport facility. 6. Brought in tax on reimbursement of fuel, newspaper, magazines, certain gifts, etc and capped to very lower amount. 7. Reduced new jobs, made many companies defunct due to demonitisation. 8. Companies become defunct because of new banking code. 9. Govt thought lot of benefits these middle class is enjoying from PF, Pension, ESI, etc, put a cap on amount and levied tax on more amount. This has been done slowly like putting a needle in to banana. Middle class not realised this still they think that whatever this Govt is doing, is for "Day of prosperity". And still they will vote for one more time.
Only middle class knows their everyday struggle for life to keep going. From wifi bills to electricity bills, from taxes to hospital bills and those small needs which are actually dreams like motorbikes, cars, washing machine, refrigerator, houses, high quality education. Few people knows that what is happening behind the walls of middle class homes.

Fate of Indian middle class is to keep on paying taxes. If you buy a car for 28 lakh. Cost price is 15 lakh, rest the government is taking in various form of taxes. Yet they can’t provide you an oxygen cylinder when you are sick ( we are paying for that also). Very very inefficient government.

During those years India recorded jobless growth. A few software engineers were made but a large chunk of the low skilled and semi skilled people were neglected. Even then informal sector was dominant with low values street vendors. The situation is same today. So think logically before commenting anything

Middle class in India should also look at career options in politics and public service. The Indian middle class is generally timid and want to play safe and want others to do the work for them. They are not willing to make sacrifices only want to eat the cake. Instead of facing the challenge head on, most of the parents prepare their children to send them to west and settle there, with a resigned voice, "India me kuch nahi hona wala". West was not built overnight, the earlier generation made lot of sacrifices to build their country and the institutions.

Very true compilation of Middle class citizens of India. In Bangalore some of my relatives and friends lost their breadwinner and the families are with loans spent on the deceased Covid patient, no income and they are struggling to survive but the Karnataka Government has not shown any future for them. Your editorial will at least open their eyes.
Recently, my IT deduction shot up. I checked with the company's accountant and was told that the govt. rebate expired. I barely got its benefit for two months. It was hard af to get a job in the pandemic. But the deduction was significant. Enough to hurt. It hurts to know that the Indian government wants to squeeze every last dime from us. No help coming, sir. Like the PM said in his first webcast, we're all on our own.
Sir, We were not middle class two decades ago, below middle class and slightly above poor class.
Later we had the economy opening, slowly economy started picking up and new products, new shops, new jobs opened up and we became middle class.
But now middle class have voted thinking that days will be better, and and they got only the paper written " good day".
Middle class have been hit by this Govt very badly, in police terms, third degree treatment.
1. Removing the subsidies for fuel, gas, even on DTH on which they had to pay double.
2. Brought in demonitisation, where savings of the house wives and elderly had been badly hit.
3.Started squeezing by limiting the cash transactions.
4. Removed certain benefits in tax on housing and company provided housing
5. Removed subsidies in company run canteens and transport facility.
6. Brought in tax on reimbursement of fuel, newspaper, magazines, certain gifts, etc and capped to very lower amount.
7. Reduced new jobs, made many companies defunct due to demonitisation.
8. Companies become defunct because of new banking code.
9. Govt thought lot of benefits these middle class is enjoying from PF, Pension, ESI, etc, put a cap on amount and levied tax on more amount.
This has been done slowly like putting a needle in to banana. Middle class not realised this still they think that whatever this Govt is doing, is for "Day of prosperity". And still they will vote for one more time.
Only middle class knows their everyday struggle for life to keep going. From wifi bills to electricity bills, from taxes to hospital bills and those small needs which are actually dreams like motorbikes, cars, washing machine, refrigerator, houses, high quality education. Few people knows that what is happening behind the walls of middle class homes.

There is a system dear. Its called check who you are voting for before pressing vote button. Point in case. Modi-Shah’s ill deeds were in wide open. One was called out for his divise action by his own PM, Vajpayee and the other one was declared a tadi paar. Yet, one is a PM and another is the HM all because we were waiting for a system.

What we need is a constitutional amendment to the effect that Elected representatives can be de elected when they fail to deliver what is promised but do what they did not have as manifesto.

Mr.Sujit Nair strongly recommends 5 points. The government will just as strongly turn a deaf ear. Fate of Indian middle class is to keep on paying taxes. If you buy a car for 28 lakh. Cost price is 15 lakh, rest the government is taking in various form of taxes. Yet they can’t provide you an oxygen cylinder when you are sick ( we are paying for that also). Very very inefficient government.
