Omg yes, I was feeling burnt out too, I didn't know what it was exactly that made me not like the game as much as three houses. But you explained it more in detail like with the endings, the missions to get specific items, and doing campgrounds tasks it was pretty tedious. I did enjoy the game though and I agree that it is very fun, even co-op felt very fun. Some music like Between Heaven and Earth got a nice remix. Nice video though

To me, it was the utter shafting of the Church of Seiros that made me dislike this game. It's not even good as an antagonist in this game, which is the minimum required when you have two out of the three routes shitting relentlessly on it.

I beat this once, was hyped, I was disappointed, that lead to distaste, I don’t want to kill Jeralt or Byleth, when you said you don’t recommend it to Three Houses players, I agree, but you need the context, who’s the game for?
Ik ppl enjoy the game, and all the lore power to them, the gameplay and maps are great, the story breaks the game for me I’m afraid.
    Great video!!

I loved three hopes, but I missed a crucial recruitment in my golden wildfire playthrough. It meant I accidentally got the "bad ending", and NOTHING was explained to me about the mystery around Shez's powers or about Byleth being somewhat "possessed" by Sothis. I was so sad about it and about the amount of time I spent getting to that point (more than 50 hours as you pointed out in the video) that I didn't feel like restarting my playthrough or doing another one - especially as I'm way more attached to the Golden deer than the other classes... So I stopped playing the game altogether for a while.
About 2 years later, I started a new playthrough with the Blue Lions, but I still prefer the Golden deer and am STILL SALTY ABOUT THIS BAD ENDING lmao.
This is a part of "your choices matter" of RPGs that I hate. To me, there should always be a good, bad AND neutral ending. The neutral one should be simple to achieve and explain everything about the story. In three hopes, there were only two options for endings: the good one (explaining everything), and the bad one (explaining nothing and making you miss out on chapters), and the bad one was very easy to miss (I genuinely thought that fighting Byleth's dad would lead me to recruit Byleth when I was actually supposed to ignore him and Byleth altogether in order to recruit them... Sometimes when you fight a character in this game, they don't die but just retreat, so I didn't know I would kill him!)

I don't really agree that players are entitled to a particular ending when playing a game. I think its a potential strength of video games as an artform that it obscures better outcomes to those who don't engage with and put effort into really considering the story. Now this more of a hypothetical, as I understand that a fully employed adult with relationships to maintain will probably find replaying a 50+ hour game again to be annoying. But as I argued, I do feel there is an artistry in the way Three Hopes obscures the secret pathway. The problem is that even the "good" ending in this game his hardly any more explained or conclusive than the "bad" ending.

@@ChrisTheFields I see what you mean... I do believe that players are entitled to some form of resolution of all plot points if they get to a neutral ending! The good and bad ending both could require effort on the player's part (either playing like an evil person or doing extra quests), and all of them should offer a satisfying experience. It's definitely a shame that even the good ending/secret pathway of three hopes doesn't do that!

I think an au story was fine because in three houses we got 8 alternate universes 6 more routes just seemed like more paths that could have happened.
Three hopes feels just as canon as three houses
