Did I never tell you that Kevin is known for the beauty of his falsetto? I apologize; you should have been warned. You've just been KOed. Fun fact: When interviewers ask Kirstin and Mitch which of them has the higher voice they look at each other, shrug, and suggest Kevin.
I used to be burned out on all Christmas music before I discovered Pentatonix. *THIS* song could send me into a homicidal rampage. Introduction to PTX, now I can listen to Christmas music year round, sing along, and even enjoy it! It took me quite a while to actually listen to this song when they first released it. But I must admit, like everything they put their magic touch on, this one actually won me over. Upgrade indeed! They managed to make it clever, creative, and just plain fun!
"#Pentatonix doesn't *do* covers; they do upgrades." So how do you upgrade something that's just crazy? Buy into the craziness and take it as far as it will go. And while you're at it, make sure it contains beautiful harmonies, Matt's most chocolatey bass, and Kevin's sweetest falsetto. Yep. That should do it.
I have watched A LOT of reactions to this and you are the FIRST one to say anything about Mitch’s lower range. I enjoy his lower range because you don’t get to hear it often. But still love his upper range. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. 🎄 Greetings from Southern California. 🤗💋🥰
Mitch has a range of just over *6 octaves.* Have you watched #Pentatonix's -cover- upgrade of "Bohemian Rhapsody"? If not, you need to. Remember the "Bismillah" argument in "Bohemian Rhapsody"? In PTX's rendition, Scott is the person being argued over. And the two sides of the argument are high versus low. Since Scott's range extends upward into the tenor range, and doward into a bass range, Scott sings his own "Let me go," as well as singing along with both the high and low sides of the argument. (Scott has said that these rapid jumps between registers are the hardest part of the song for him.) But what is everyone else doing? Well, Kirstin and Kevin are singing the high side of the argument, and Avi and *Mitch* are singing the low side. Even if you're a contratenor, you can do that if you have a 6 octave range.
For the last year, I’ve listened to PTX almost every day. They are Christmas virtuosos. This version is sneaky. They start out very standard and keep kicking it up a notch on every verse after 5 Golden Rings. By the end it’s like whoa! What was that!
They do this live, if you can imagine it. Usually, this is the type of song that you want to end half way through. However, PTX made it enjoyable. Merry Christmas.
It was Ben Bram, their arranger who came up with the idea to change everything up with every pass-thru. Scott said he never forgive him for doing this to them...Scott forgets lyrics all the time. On Scott's Instagram there a short of him rehearsing this at home...and it's nuts! Kevin is a tenor and as you heard, has a beautiful falsetto. If you ask the group who their highest singer is...they all point to Kevin. It does depend on the day, though. I'm pretty sure the three (Mitch, Kirstie and Kevin) have competitions and it changes from time to time...mind you, Kirstie does some fantastic whistle notes! Have a wonderful Christmastime with your loved ones!
you looked like a kid at xmas. pun intended. this is why ptx doesn't do covers, they do upgrades. they have their 2024 xmas concert streamed. naturally, it's very good
What a masterpiece from Pentatonix. It was so much fun. Thank you Viking for another wonderful response to this epic cover. I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
That was amazing. This is now my 2nd favorite version of this song, only John Denver and the Muppets beat this version. Love the Reaction. Merry Christmas.
One more thing. Have you ever heard of MARCIN? If you haven’t I would suggest you check him out. Polish percussive finger style guitarist. He is considered the best in the world and he just turned 24. I could recommend quite a few of his videos, but if you go to his channel and pick something that interests, you, trust me, you will not be disappointed. He does everything from classical to metal. 🙏🏼
This is the only version of this song I can listen to without wishing it would be over.
amen
@@mel3268 The one other one that I would recommend is by Straight No Chaser. It’s another a capella version, and it is SO funny!
@ I’ll check it out. Thanks.

If you watch Amazing Grace you will also hear that beautiful "lower" voice of Mitch but O the tone of his voice!! Amazing. Greetings from South Africa

I prefer Mitch’s voice, high, med, low, etc… his tone is just beautiful.

....and yes they can do this live without their brains exploring 😂❤
When Mitch goes high, it's called being Mitch Slapped! LOL! 🤣
They recorded this during the pandemic. Thank you for appreciating their talent. Merry Christmas!
I believe someone had mentioned that they were sort of giving a nod to several of their other videos in the different stylings they chose for this one
If you get a chance, you should check out PTX’s original song “New Year’s Day”, the live version from 2016. Great way to bring in the New Year!
That was amazing. This is now my 2nd favorite version of this song, only John Denver and the Muppets beat this version. Love the Reaction. Merry Christmas.
Thank you Viking for the reactions in this advent series. Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🎅🏼
You need to put all these together and release them. Great job
I listen to their Christmas music all through the year.
Very very enjoyable. Really cool how they did this. Thank you Viking. Mary b.
Love, love, love your reaction 🥰
Merry Christmas Viking! Thank you very much for the advent calendar! I really enjoyed it!💜💜💜
That was amazing!! You & other reactors NEED to do the demented, comic version of Christmas carols!!! They're the best!!!!
Funny. Warp speed seasonal music. I was wrestling with the snow so missed the LS. I very much enjoyed the music presented for Advent. Thank you.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Vrolijk Kerstfeest Viking!🎄🎄🎄🎄
They took the most boring Christmas song ever written and turned it into something really spectacular
