    My advice (gardener for 20+ years) water those
    trees on a consistent schedule. I’ve planted over 30 trees on our new property. Many, many evergreens. I’m in SC - zone 8a. I water my trees twice a week during the summer. Unless we get a good rain. They need that water that first year especially.
    I cut back on water a little during the winter especially since we’re prone to wet winters. We get much colder here than FL too. But they still need a drank. 😆
    I’ve seen so many people plant new trees (especially evergreens) around here and never water them. They grow SLOW. They rely on rain i suppose. But you water those trees and they will grow. Some of these trees can grow 3ft to 5ft a year if taken care of.
    Good luck with them. They will be gorgeous!

    Beautiful! You should have your husband run wire and install landscape lights in the yard shining onto the trees. Would look soooo good ❤

    You should do a screened in backyard porch. That way you guys can enjoy being outside at night without having to worry about mosquitoes

    When a family helps each other, any yard can look good. Shouldn't leave to one person to do things all alone.

    Goodness, seeing all of you working made me smile and brought back so many wonderful memories. My babies are now 20 and 22. Both very productive humans. Both very responsible and handy. They both respect and appreciate our home, because they know the hard work we all put into it. I LOVE the trees!

    I’m in Texas and I trim my crepe Myrtle’s back every February. In the spring they comeback full and pretty. To me that’s a little too close to the building and fence. Have you ever planted knockout roses. They are very hearty and grow so good anywhere.

    I like the idea of a screened in porch as you can use it more often and not get bit up by the mosquitoes. On a pretty day you could do part of your work out on the porch with some privacy. I love it all. Take care and stay safe. ❤❤❤❤

    Could be where the concrete blocks are. Is where they had a chain link fence. And they poured concrete over the poles to hold them in for the fencing. Also you ask about the crepe myrtle. The roots will not get as big as some bushes. But it will grow. And as the crepe myrtle grows and spreads out. It will be up against your building. And grow out to where you will not have a walkway to your fence. Even with trimming it because the trunks will be getting bigger and you can not trim them. Also a crepe myrtle likes full sun. I no your moving plants and bushes to add more and to make your yard pretty. But if not careful planting and then moving them to much. When they have just got new young roots in the ground. You will kill them. So I would decide where you want and no that is where you want them before you plant. The yard is looking so good.

    Definitely water 2 to 3 times a week and I highly recommend mulch around them to help retain moisture. Ask nursery about fertilizer or plant food and when to do that in your area. Looks great

    Looks so good! I want to do some work in my front and back yard but it's still too cold! My part of Florida, it's been in the 30's at night and stays in the 50's to 60's during the day. I'm afraid of it suddenly getting super cold and ruining anything I plant. I'm gonna wait till March when hopefully the temperatures are more moderate but not so hot that I'll melt out there LOL. Have a blessed weekend sweetie. Arlene

    What's the strategy behind planting the cypress so close together? As they grow they will be smashed against the fence, and smashed together, preventing full growth. The roots will be really stressed. They typically need like, at least 5 feet between them, preferably more, and at least 3 feet away from fences. Are those Leylands?

    • @karrielynn
      @karrielynn  21 годину тому

      They are not Leylands, and the hope is that they will grow close, and we will trim them to make a hedge

    I live in Alabama and I planted these trees for privacy to our backyard where our pool is. I wish I hadn’t just because now I am in a wheelchair because had to have both legs amputated above the knee. You are correct in the fact that they do grow really fast. So fast that you have to really stay on top of them and keep them trimmed. They will not be a problem for you because you are so active. They are very pretty and easy to grow! Enjoy them!!
