I wounded up in a shelter in Phoenix a few yrs back and there with me was a young blk woman with two little girls who had two masters degrees..So Tim is absolutely right when he says degrees didn't propel us.
The fact that you have a university master's degree does not guarantee anyone's success, to begin with everything depends on the career you studied and the demand in the labor market for said career, in that sense an engineering career is not the same as the garbage of studies of gender or political science, companies prefer to hire people without children, did you ask that woman if she used drugs? there are many reasons why that woman could have ended up in such a situation, but for the idiots she is because of racism

I like and enjoyed this lecture, he’s very easy to follow/understand. This video should be a part of classroom curriculum for ALL high schools in the USA. The origins and evils of racism has to be taught to our youngsters so that maybe, as he stated, they can help to make America resemble greatness/equality to some degree. Great speech. I've now learnt the meaning of 'white privilege' in society. He explains how the divide and conquer rule is intended to benefit the elite. The education I had at school and college (living in the UK) did not teach me about African or other cultures contribution to civilisation. I learned it as an adult. +PsyQo AvanZ Stop looking at things black and white and look at teh true complxity and depth of the situation. It's not about liberal vs. conservative--that's simplifying a problem that's much older thatn the current day-United States or our stupid, and failed two-party system which is equally corrupt on both sides.
He's talking about a social problem. Social probelm. Social problems exist no matter who is sitting in the white house. Racism is real, just look at most other countries in the world (there's parts of Europe where people are OPENLY racist, like it's the 1950's in the states. I had an American friend who traveled there and freaked out, most people stopped being in your face loudmouth racist in America a long time ago). America is no different just because it's a democracy.
Msot black people would be considered to be "conservative" yet don't agree with the opinions of the more fringe right-wing groups. There's plenty of conservatives who even dislike trump and white nationalists too.
So it's not so simple as liberal vs. conservative. It's about mature people vs. people who want to be racist no matter who they are or how much of a life wasted it is. Tim Wise is telling the truth (you can argue all day long about 'whtie privilege', but racism in itself within white communities is real just like it exists in any community. There's no such thing as a 'timeline' on racism. We didn't kill it or minimize it, we just suppressed it, after the 60's. Just some people aren't going around lynching people or yelling stuff in broad daylight, they just talk among themselves, or exercise other methods of bias/prejudice. But bigotry won't go away. It's the dark side of human nature alot like violence or rape)
