Jared, I wish you the best of luck. You will do great! I think you will be surprised how smooth a total hip will go. If it goes as my total knee went, you will notice the "old" pain gone as soon as you wake up! Please keep your mind full of positive thoughts!

From a PT who works with patients hours after waking up and a daughter whose dad had a hip replacement relatively young, this will be the best thing you do! My dad was hiking miles just 2 months post-op and cycles 100+ miles a week now. Also playing around with his grandsons no problem now!!

Jared, my dad became a quadriplegic when we were kids......kids are very adaptable. Our dad couldn't walk or hug us, he couldnt go to the bathroom without us, he couldn't eat by himself....we did everything for him...even scratch his nose or forehead. The bond is tight no matter what.
I have a feeling your dad was blessed beyond words to have you all as his family.
My dad became a paraplegic due to polio. He was 27 yrs old, he lived to 72! Never heard him complain once from pain in his hips and back. He was my hero and I miss him everyday. I’m pretty sure the kids will feel the same way about Jared!
Jared is the kindest soul and I pray this takes all of his pain away. He deserves quality of life. Such a great dad and husband. Lord please heal this man fully!
Congratulations!! I worked in the recovery room & now an orthopedic clinic & our hips do so well! The total hip arthroplasty - direct superior approach are up walking with physio just a few hours after! We just had a 13 day post op in yesterday for staple removal & you’d never know she had her hip done 2 weeks prior.

As a person dealing with daily, horrible pain from ruptured discs, pinched nerves, no cartilage in knees and daily aches from Autoimmune Hepatitis, I feel for you. I'm praying for you, your family and your Drs to have a blessed day and that everything goes great for you. 🙏 🙏

This brought me to tears. Seeing your guys journey since Jackson and how much you all adore your kids, I can tell how much this really means to Jared. I pray everything goes smoothly and Jared gets to have a fantastic summer filled with soccer, bike rides, hiking, and chasing Penny and Copper. 💗

As a 21 yr old who has faced multiple hip surgeries including a hip replacement, I get that relief of knowing there is an answer! Also I dont think you will regret getting it done! In my experience, it gave me my life back! Prayers that surgery goes well!
I’m so happy for you Jared! I’m 65 and had mine done two years ago. I walked the same day. And six weeks later we moved across the country! At your age you will recover beautifully! So glad you can get in so soon and that actually this coming Monday! Best wishes for a speedy and amazing recovery ❤️

Jared: Like Ellie, we are all excited FOR you! No need to apologize for the tears! Our bodies seem to remember the pain and surgeries we have been through vividly - and even positive news like this can bring up SO many emotions and can try to take us back mentally to how we were feeling physically and how we were doing spiritually years ago (versus how we feel and are today). Please give yourself SO much grace as you process not only the present and future but also the past. You are an amazing dad!
My dad had a hip replaced several years ago in his 70s and I was AMAZED how quickly he recovered and was back to his super active lifestyle. He said he'd do it again in a second. No regrets. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, too, Jared.
I’ve been watching for years! Since I was 17/18 I think? I’m 25 now, struggling with infertility and seeing how happy you guys are with your big family gives me so much hope. I don’t ever post comments but I wanted to let you know I got my hip replaced 4 years ago at 32 and it changed my life, it was one of the best things I ever done!!!! Praise the Lord!!! My pain after 10 years had been lifted!!! I’ll be praying for you, by Gods grace you can do this!!!!

I’m right behind you Jared. I had my fourth hip surgery in February and trying to make it past 30 years old for a replacement. I know all too well the pain. I never knew why. But recently found out I have Elhers Dandro Syndrome, which likely caused all of my issues. Praying for a smooth surgery and recovery 🙏🏻
I’m an outpatient PT and see many patients after hip replacements. I think this will be amazing for you, Jared! It’ll probably take a good 6-8 weeks to feel pretty good but hips seem a bit easier than knees honestly. I think the post-op over-doing it soreness will pale in comparison to your pain now! I know my dad said it did. Good luck! 🍀

My dad had a hip replacement about a year ago. It absolutely changed his quality of life. They had him up and walking about 2-3 hours after surgery. He’s never looked back

I am so happy this chapter is nearly over and its NOT something you have to live with forever Jared. I know a few people who've had hip replacement and they all say it was better than they expected. I think that Calvin getting a dad who can do more things with him will be a birthday present he will never forget.
Will be praying for you! As a nurse I see so many hip replacements some people have to stay over night but most elective surgeries have little to no pain and are up walking within 6 hours after surgery. It’s night and day for these people.
My dad just had his second hip replacement (different hips!) he was thrilled to have his second hip done because the first one made his one leg a good inch shorter than the other and had to wear shoes always. The new surgeon evened his height AND got rid of his pain. He’s thrilled. I hope you have the same positive change of quality of life!
I am so happy for you Jared, it’s hard to watch someone in pain especially when there is nothing you can do to help ease the pain. I watch my husband every day I see his pain and he does try to get thru his day the best that he can
I am 70 with Osteoarthritis in my hip. I had hip surgery and was driving in 2 weeks. No pain whatsoever.
My brother and sister both had hip replacement surgery ..oh and my therapist . They healed so fast and are all back to their very active lives of pickle ball swimming , surfing , wakeboarding . My brother waited u til after my sister had hers and was intimidated by how quickly she healed and of course it became a competition ..

I’m praying for you, Jared. I hope the surgery vastly improves your quality of life. The thing about Ellie is that you met her when you were at a very low point, so you know she’ll stand by you through the worst, because she already has.
Jared, I had a hip replacement surgery 6 1/2 months ago. You’re going to be so glad you did it!
I am a retired nurse with major spine issues and multiple surgeries. I live in pain every day and I completely understand how you feel when you have to say “I’m so sorry. It I can’t do this or that” and all those feelings that go along with it. I just had a fairly new technique done by an amazing neurosurgeon and when I say that it has changed my life - it has literally changed my life.. I was in a wheelchair at times, used a walker or cane always, couldn’t climb stairs, etc. my surgery was 2 weeks ago and at home I use nothing but my own two legs to walk!! I start PT in 2 weeks and fully expect to be walking up the stairs AND taking my dogs for a walk again. Happy tears??? Oh yes!! I wanted to thank everyone and hug everyone as I have been given my life back!! Not without some pain and I still have spine issues but until you’ve been in this sort of situation, you can’t appreciate it. So good luck to you, prayers for you, your family and the medical staff!! God placed this entire situation in your path at the exact time it was meant to happen. I am so happy for you…. God bless you.
Jared I had MACI with a TTO a year and a half ago and it has been quite the journey. It’s a tough surgery to go through. That being said I pray your surgery goes extremely smoothly and the recovery be quick and easy. YOU GOT THIS!! ❤
My Aunty has had two hip replacements recently and she is completely fine.. she bounced back so fast and the second one she didn’t even do much rehab.. it’s been the best thing she has done.. good luck hun you will rock it
I had my hip replacement just under 2 years ago. I had it done from the front and had zero restrictions and no PT afterwards. There was virtually no pain and I was FIXED! And I was 68 when I had it done! Easy-peasy for sure. You will breeze through this. I am now trying to recover from a total knee replacement and am in horrific pain and am struggling. Hip surgery is definitely a much easier surgery. Good luck... you will do well.
My mom had both hips replaced a few years ago, in separate surgeries. She says the recovery was less painful than the pain she had endured for years prior. Best wishes for you!

My dad had both hips replacement in the same time. Walk the same evening feel awesome about 3 week after and now he feel like 15 years younger!!! I wish you could have the same relief Jared ❤ you’re having pain for as long as i remember. I will pray for you 🙏

My thoughts and prayers are are with you Jared. You’ve got this. You will heal well since you are so young. Positive thoughts are very important. I have had a lot of surgeries and just before they put me out I always tell the anaesthesiologist that I am going to the beach (in my mind) to relax and enjoy the day, wake me up when he is done. So important to just relax your entire body Jared and your body will recover much faster and with less pain. God Bless 🙏🙏🙏
My heart sank when I saw this opener. I couldn't help but think that something awful was found or that nothing could be done. Then I thought that just perhaps your emotions were from happiness. I'm so thankful that it was the latter. I hoping that 5/23 will be the day for your life changing surgery. Prayers for you, Jared! You have suffered long enough.

In the past two years my husband has had both knees and a hip replacement. The knees recovery was rough but the hip was a piece of cake. He is no longer in pain and can work in the garden again which is his passion. You will do great!!! My husband waited until he was in his 60’s to get this done. He wishes he had done it a lot sooner. He was home the same day.

Something my Mum always said, and something I now live by, is “how long are you prepared to put up with this”. If the answer is not anymore then anything you do to move forward has to be the right thing. I live by it now.

My family found the hack for that ice machine after my shoulder surgery, my father in laws and fathers. You put water in it but then just load up froze water bottles inside of it so it makes water ice cold. When the water bottles are water again refresh with new ice bottles. That way you aren’t going through bags of ice like we were. It is so easy plus you aren’t emptying the machine constantly.
You should definitely do it now so you can finally get it done, heal, and have an amazing summer with your babies, I'm so beyond happy for you guys ❤

I had a hip replacement done 5 years ago. It's the best thing I ever did!!! I now need my other side done. I hate surgery but it's better than being in pain every single day.
