You are 100% correct on Tom Clements, his work with Rodgers and now with Jordan Love speaks for itself. Good stuff Peter.
Yet Jordan works with "his QB coach" whenever not at Lambeau!! Why don't the Packers add "his guy" to the staff??

You don’t pay a player for what they’ve done you pay them pay them for what they will do for you anybody who watches football regardless of who you root for can tell how good he is
Now I understand why Brian said that he was going to draft a quarterback every year. He can't afford to keep paying them without jeopardizing the structure of the team's strengths
His first contract should not re set the market at all, that is an awful take. Just because another QB got X amount of money does not automatically mean that everyone now deserves more. Love played one season with only 8 games that were good. He should be paid off his performance and not what joe burrow or Trevor Lawrence are making.
Try telling his agent that..............and if you dick around too much, Love just decides to wait until next year and the price is only going to go up
If you think he is great, pay him now. If anything, you pay more now so you can pay less later.
It's similar to a stock price. If Jordan has another great year, with the looming salary cap increasing his price will go up again. If the Packers want to win this negotiation, offer more now than what they are asking for. I would try for at least a 6 year deal. A 5 year deal would be ok but I want my advantage to really hit in two or three years. If we can save 5 or 6 million, that goes to the weapons we would like to keep.
I would offer a 5 year extension worth 300 million. That's 320 million in total money over the next 6 years. I would make the signing bonus something crazy. Say 200 million. Cut down the guaranteed portion of the contract to provide insurance against an awful injury.

I think Love's contract should be incentive based, since he only had 9 wins in 2023. Nine wins doesn't sound like a $60 million a yr contract to me. If Love gets 12 wins in 2024, which is very doable with the schedule they have, then give him the $60 million a yr. Maybe, the Packers can have two contracts written up... one for if he have 12+ wins, and the other contract for if he doesn't get it. BTW... I think the Packers should be able to get 13 wins in 2024. Love needs to get much better with his accuracy on the deep balls. Receivers are always needing to stop to catch them.
If J. Love plays hardball, we still have Pratt and Clifford waiting to show their stuff.

I couldn’t agree any better with Peter on a lot of things he really hit on with salaries that guys like Lawrence, Goff, and Burrow make, I think GB may wind up giving this man very close to $60 million cuz Love is a top 10 QB now and he well deserves that money, that Packers team last season shocked the whole league and we are definitely the team that can develop a qb and then manage to keep that guy for the next 10 plus seasons, they absolutely cooked this offseason too, to where they’ve got the well deserved SB hype talks cuz that team is LOADED offensively and defensively, it’s SB caliber built now.
So what if GB had traded AR a year earlier and JLove now had two full seasons under his belt and finished the 2023 just as he did. Everyone of you would be saying pay the man now. It was not his fault that GB did not move on from AR earlier and give him more snaps before this contract extension was staring them in the face. They sat him for 3 years and when they finally gave him the reigns he progressed throughout the year into an elite QB we all wanted and expected. Other contemporary QBs have a larger sample size but their production is no better than what JLove did and they are getting their payday. So this whole argument about his small sample size means he shouldn’t get a big payday now is weak. JLove and his agent have the leverage on the Packers in this. Gutey knew that this scenario was possible. Give the guy only 1 year of snaps before the last year of his contract and he rises to the occasion and now you can’t risk him hitting the open market next year. They should have closed the deal in May if they wanted to save money.

Let Jordan Love develop and prove himself before he can get a load of cash. I know he did amazing 2nd half of the 2023-24 NFL season last year and I love what Jordan Love is doing but I’d like to see him really settle in and develop, then if he produces which he will, then give him better money. When would you have wanted to buy Apple stock? Would you want today's price or buy it 20 years ago? You win when you buy. Sure, there's a small leap of faith that you must take but if you feel like you are correct you have to pull the trigger on a big time deal.
The Packers have a Superbowl window open for the next two or three years. If Jordan gets one next year, his price will skyrocket. If you can save 5 million a year or in the future save even more than 5 million you can afford to keep some of his weapons.

I have a problem with this!!.......,i understand the issue of scarcity....and the economic landscape of the NFL......however....COME ON!!!....Love has a little over twenty starts in his career (including the playoffs)!
Whats more....he showed promise and legit top 12 QB potential here BUT.......he's not the second coming of Brady or Manning or Elway!.....nor may he ever be that!

The smartest thing Jordan love could do it take 10mil per year under the top deal but ask for it 100% guaranteed. He could buy a voice in the roster. Buy more weapons. Buy respect from fellow veterans who know he’s legit and wants to win like Brady! If he took a 3 year deal at 10mil under and they went all out to get him weapons it would make his stats better, make his win loss record better and most likely buy him a superbowl in the next 3 years if not 2! If Love blew up from becoming the best statistical QB because he had elite receivers he would make way more in endorsements! He would easily make that 30mill back in endorsements from the increased performance. He would have way more fans in the media for taking a cut and more fans in the street to buy merch! Then after the 3 years you decide again if you want to be the highest paid now that you have a ring or 2 or if you want to win 2-4 more rings and keep taking less. Brady doesn’t regret taking a pay cut a day in his life. Rodger’s wouldn’t be able to spend all his money if he tried. He wouldn’t even notice his accounts being 30 mill short right now. But Rodger’s would be the GOAT with 2 more rings.

I think that the base AAV for Love should be low-$50Ms, but with incentives that make it high-$50Ms for yards, TDs, playoff/SB wins, etc. That way he has a market-rate base, with top-of-market incentives.

For now the packers WRs for at least 3 years are on their rookue contracts that will give packeslrs wiggle room. I think this will be a NFL problem and they may incorporate a Larry Bird type of cap rule giving QBs cap exemption

It's all about spacing, like he said there is 15 mill cap space this year, meaning if he gets a 60 mil contract it'll be spread out over the next 4-5 years he won't see big big money for at least 2-3 years giving the packers a nice window with all these rookies and maybe some cap space for signing a few players to boost the production of another super bowl
