Any Ghanaian who passes through the 70s till date and voice out that Rawlings didn’t do anything for Ghana, is either he/she has a personal problem with him or he/she grew up and was told the story from a different angle but when I look at where Ghana is coming from, I will say a big well done to J.J Rawlings. Ghana as a nation has had only two president in terms of development and being patriotic to their nation.
Many Akans are suffering from generational propagated hate syndrome, they hate what is good for them, out of fear . Familiarity doest always brings salvation, salvation most often comes from those we do not know or "hates".
I love this man! He did only what could be done at the time he took over. Today we have full blown democracy, which by thed way, he made possible by handing over peacefully! Thank you Mr. Jerry John Rawlings.
I'm not the biggest fan of rawlings but you're forced to believe what he's saying in this vid. yet to watch the rest. bt the way things r going back home... the man DOES HAVE A POINT. thievery is riiiife!!! the "leaders" HAVE lost touch!! it's such a shame
Am speaking as a Ghanaian who lived in Ghana and now living abroad, am not in supportive of taking someone’s life but if we can all remember the 1st acclaimed coup done by J.J was not a violent one, he didn’t kill anyone but yet he was nearly sentence to death by the corrupt judges and leaders people are crying over now. If anyone of us were in Rawlings shoes at that time, were you going to let this corrupt leaders go free?
you right J J R you can love god and fear him at sometime.this doctoring came from our slave master. just to fear in black people.good Pan African leader,
find out about America, Germany… and see the number of people they killed before reaching this stage of democracy, no country on this planet didn’t go through loss of lives before being democratic, everything comes with its prize and no country on this earth can say it went through a peaceful transition. These countries have moved on and developing and some of us admire them but give blind side as to what they did to get there.
He speaks so eloquently and am just wondering why his accent different from that of the Ghanaian accent. The way most Ghanaians speak and pronounce words sound so funny sometimes.
Jerry John Rawlings, you are my hero, you should have finished with those who are currupting us for now and those on here talking rubbish, why is it that the I C C did not issue an arrest warrant on this man like they did to other African leaders?jerry John you are my god father,
Most Ghanaians suffers from emotional immaturity , truth concerns about justice, this preserves life and advances a people. Indeed, only liars, thieves and extortionists "HATES" Jerry John . Democracy without accountability is just corruption, it leads to misappropriation, abuse, suffering and destruction of a people and a nation. If you cannot think beyond your feelings, you'd not discover truth and be great.
Three points; 1. Ironically, I recall this man governing with fear as well. 2. By tasted freedom he meant tasted power. 3. A coup is a coup regardless of the rationale. Too bad the interviewer didn't bother challenging him.
You said it perfectly. He was opposed to the handing over after June 4. He tasted power and wanted it back. Also it was personal. He was of the opinion that Limann's security was trailing him. So the countr6has to go through bloody coup because Rawlings was being trailed.
@@mosestekper7659 oh so sorry, I forgot to mention bloody LIARS! The man is dead now but when he was alive, he dared all those pointing accusing fingers at him to take the lie detector test yet nobody came out and that proves my point further. Let me reiterate, "only thieves, extortionists and bloody liars lived to fear him"

OUR LEGEND IS GONE. RIP SOLDIER. RIP MR. PRESEIDENT. WE WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN OUR HEART.
No matter how eloquent, one can never justify Coup D'etat.
I'm not sure you understand why he did it. It was to forestall greater damage to the country. A man acts when he is discerning

His accent is Ghanaian. He just is influenced by being well travelled. Most educated Ghanaians speak this way if you meet enough of them.

This guy is deluded if he thinks he did not rule with fear. There is reality and there is Rawlings delusions.
Yeah that may be true but only thieves and extortionists feared him.
