- Triangle Strategy isn't very noteworthy. It has some problems and its strengths have been seen in similar titles. However, it is a very good SRPG. A shining example of hope that more developers will attempt making high profile titles in this genre.

I'd be curious what you think is better or more noteworthy recently (so I can check them out!). I think I actually like this game over Final Fantasy Tactics. The amount of combinations you can come up with the various characters is really enjoyable (especially as you unlock more advanced characters) and I think feels more enjoyable than customizing each character.
The combat was so finely tuned in this (I've been playing all on hard) that it always felt like it came down to using a better strategy to win rather than feel like grinding would help.
The voting system was really fantastic and elevated the story a lot I think. I definitely hope to see the idea expanded upon.
I should clarify that when I say "not noteworthy" it just means that this particular game didn't really stand out to me. Not that there's necessarily something out there that is better. Because the one way that Triangle Strategy is especially noteworthy is that it's a somewhat high profile game that isn't Fire Emblem. I hope this game does well and convinces other developers to look into making their own. (Although I will say that there is plenty coming in on the indie front that is worth your time. Into the Breach, Chroma Squad, and Fae Tactics are ones that I quite enjoy.) And I'm happy so many are enjoying Triangle Strategy. I scoped out other opinions for a little bit last night, and I feel like I'm the least impressed critic and still I really liked what I played.
I’d say TS took more inspiration from ogre battle than FFT.
I completely agree the the hd2d thing. It looked good at first but after playing octopath I ended up hating it

@@ChrisTheFields No offence, but making a review series about strategy games not liking FFT is like making a review series about character action games and not liking Devil May Cry.
@@DanielSantosAnalysis I'm aware. And one day I'll probably get to FFT because there's a lot to unpack there and I know I'm in the minority. But there's a lot of specific attributes of that game which add up together that caused me to not like what I played. But I don't mind. I don't think its a prerequisite for me to like FFT the same way I shouldn't expect someone else who may like these kinds of games to like Fire Emblem.

I don't mind artstyle inconsistency so much, but for me both Triangle Strategy and Octopath colors are SO UGLY. It's like someone playing contrast toggle in photoshop for the first time ever...
