You're 100% right. I think there's a nunance there that people on both sides miss. When people say "we want realism", they're usually asking for the game to feel like a ww2 game with correct animations, sounds and characters, and not a modern tacticool fps game in a ww2 skin.

I personally prefer Battlefield 5, but imo the more tactical animations of Vanguard are pretty satisfying to watch, DESPITE THEIR HISTORICAL INACCURACY. There reply section, are you happy? Jesus christ
Battlefield 5 pays more attention to the proper operation of its firearms, but the animation quality is less constrained, a bit more loose and bouncy. Unfortunately prone to some animation hitching on things like the shotguns. Sound design is more varied, and generally more punchy. The model quality is acceptable, but the FPS hands are pretty crunchy and have some clipping with certain weapons. Vanguard is generally more fluid with its animations, and more constrained with reduced movement intensity and bounce. Unfortunately due to the Call of Duty Crunch, Vanguard has some rather glaring animation errors, and is very much walking in MW19's shadow. You wouldn't see many of these reloads in the documentaries. Sounds are almost like the shots are being recorded from some distance away, and with what feels like a microphone that can't handle all the decibels. They lack punch, and some of the handling sounds are very samey. Model quality is good, but the guns being modeled are generally of the cheap Chinese knockoff variety because they don't want to bother with licensing. This is pretty heavy generalizing, and there are outliers among each set of weapons. All opinions are my own.
I think the reason for the modern style reloads are because of the special forces theme of the campaign, who know, maybe they trained to fight differently from the typical army techniques
THANK YOU STARK This is what i mean, MW19 in the long run just has fucked them into doing the same old “everything must be tactical otherwise we get complaints”
As someone who fires a crap load of different guns I agree with everything you said by both games except the sound design is actually horrid in BF. To someone who doesn't really shoot guns it sound great but it isn't. There is way to much echo from the 1st person perspective. From the shooters perspective there is almost no echo, the sound should just be blunt or a straight thump if you want to word it like that. Followed by the echo after. You should have none or extremely minimal echo when you pull the trigger. Vanguard is also guilty of this but not on all weapons. MW 2019 actually did an amazing job at capturing the weapon sounds from the shooters perspective. BF sounds is as if you are standing 20 feet away from the actual shooter and not the shooter himself.
Panzerfaust 60 reloaded in Vanguard is absolutely hurt my both eyes and brain Note : Panzerfaust 250 was only Panzerfaust that can reloaded cuz it's used a reloadable tube like RPG (RPG-2 based on this Panzerfaust) but Panzerfaust 250 development was never complete and non of them ever in production
Considering that Vanguard is part of a team of Task Force soldiets, they would get top of the line tech and prototypes that they can use in the battlefield, meaning that they can get their hands on a Panzerfaust 250.
Imo BFV wins easily. 2 reasons why: It doesn't try so hard to be tacticool like cod. And secondly, the sound design is excellent. (Much better than this COD imo) Vanguard tried so hard to be like Modern Warfare, that forgot what make that game so good... it was unique, and fresh, and so well made that the gunplay was considered on par with milsims. But now, everything needs to be exactly like MW. Not better, not different, but a clone. Except it doesn't work. Not if the devs responsible for the success of MW wasn't present to make Vanguard. The point is, COD devs, stop trying to copy. (Also, it wasn't only the animations that were good. The sound designs and attention to details were two other major components for that level of quality. And let's be honest, Vanguard sfx are nothing special at best.)
Idk the animation looks more realistic in vanguard and looks like you're in a gunfight the reloads look like hes struggling instead of taking his time although you make good points
@@1upproductions423 Nobody shot pistols two handed in WW2, people shot them with one hand because 1) That's what they were taught & 2) That's just how people shot a pistol back then. There's no way in hell people swapped magazines like that either, especially with a Thompson where it's a challenge in itself just to get the magazine alighted with the guide rails, let alone doing that with two mags in one hand.
Battlefield 5: has the full name and only changed the C96 Carbine and Auto-5's names Call of Duty Vanguard: changes the name of the gun to "avoid copyright"
Say what you want about BFV, but DICE f*cking NAILED THE M1 GARAND. Magnificent work and a thing of beauty. Just don't attach any scope to it, for Christ's sake.
I kinda suspected the Sledgehammer audio team is using similar reload audios from COD WW2. Its a little improved but I still hear similarities. Firing feels suppressed on rifles and noticeably on the BAR and I do hear the same clinking or water pipes on any metal weapons. Someone check the credits for COD Vanguard and see if its the same audio team as COD WW2 because I don't think they have much knowledge of how WW2 firearms sound like.
One other neat little sound design detail that not too many people will notice in BFV is that there's a distinct difference in sound when it comes to the Open bolt guns (SMG and MG) compared to the Closed bolt (AR and Sniper) guns: When you fire with an open bolt gun in BFV you can actually hear the bolt move forward before the round is fired out the gun, which is why most of the SMG's and MG's when firing sound's like "shPOW, shPOW, shPOW" as if the gun is chugging along, compared to the assault rifles that just go "POW, POW, POW" and sounds solid and snappy. What's even better is the fact they added the detail of the FG-42 being both an open closed bolt gun depending on the fire mode. *Try firing the FG-42 in single shots while switching between full and semi auto and hear if you notice a difference.*
Battlefield V owns sound, recoil and some animations are great. Sad to see a 2021 game in these conditions, but hey.. it's cod, that's normal. Battlefield = Quality Cod = Quantity
Despite people calling Battlefield V dog shit in 2018, honestly I'll have to say that BFV wins in terms of animations, sounds, and even graphics. It's just a shame that it was abandoned after they added the Pacific Update, it had so much potential at that point.
BF5 all the way, it looks and sounds so much better and the non-tactical animations fits better for a WW2 game. And btw and how gun models react to lightining is beyond horrific in Vanguard, 3:16 look the 2 models, lol.
With Battlefield, they either 1. Sacrifice gameplay for details- BFV 2. Sacrifice detail for gameplay- BF4 And with COD they either 1. Make the worst fucking game you have ever seen- Vanguard 2. Or They pump out a stunning masterpiece I feel like BF1 and COD: MW19 are they best of the 2 franchises
Take note, we’re comparing two games that have a lot of time apart, not to mention one is brand new and probably has had more work done than the other. I’d say they’re both good in their own ways.
I really wonder what some people in the comments section have consumed to say that vanguard's animations are better. The bfv ones feel more natural to me and I mean, my grandpa didn't really tac reload back then. Also, he wouldn't hold a pistol with both hands, or c-clamp an mp40. Also, the models in bfv are if not perfect, close to perfection. In vanguard, they aren't. I mean, just look at that tiny m1911 or that weird looking m1897 shotgun. If in bfv the models look bigger to you its because there is something called FOV (the camera in this case is closer to the weapon). Also the details like the barrel getting too hot and the character replacing it with a fresh one are insane. And the sound of the weapons? I think theres nothing to discuss here, right? Don't get me wrong cod did a really good job but c'mon dude... Not even close to bfv.
its your opinion but you assume that we have smoked something to say vanguards anims are better? it is inaccurate to ww2 yes but if it wasnt ww2, vanguards anims are gonna be way better.

BF5 has good really good and realistic animations. The way the weapons are hold and the recoil works is both satisfying and realistic. *Not to mention the mind blowing and satisfyingly realistic sound effects!* COD V has improved on it's weapon animations and details from the horrendous things they've done in WW2. I'm not complaining. but the sound effects for the weapons are down right bad tbh by todays standard. They all have this fat bass sound effect for all their weapons which shouldn't sound like shooting a firearm. Not much difference in different weapon's sound either. @@Nottagilla common sense term please?
Spot on analysis 👌
I think the reason for the modern style reloads are because of the special forces theme of the campaign, who know, maybe they trained to fight differently from the typical army techniques
THANK YOU STARK
This is what i mean, MW19 in the long run just has fucked them into doing the same old “everything must be tactical otherwise we get complaints”
I did see that with the kar98 im vanguard there is some hitching when cycling whilst aiming down the sights
Both games look great with models and reloads, but bfv has WAY better sound design

Imo BFV wins easily. 2 reasons why:
It doesn't try so hard to be tacticool like cod.
And secondly, the sound design is excellent. (Much better than this COD imo)
Vanguard tried so hard to be like Modern Warfare, that forgot what make that game so good... it was unique, and fresh, and so well made that the gunplay was considered on par with milsims.
@@1upproductions423 yes reloads in vanguard are a bit more realistic, because everyone in ww2 gunfights were like a fkn john wick or something

One other neat little sound design detail that not too many people will notice in BFV is that there's a distinct difference in sound when it comes to the Open bolt guns (SMG and MG) compared to the Closed bolt (AR and Sniper) guns:
When you fire with an open bolt gun in BFV you can actually hear the bolt move forward before the round is fired out the gun, which is why most of the SMG's and MG's when firing sound's like "shPOW, shPOW, shPOW" as if the gun is chugging along, compared to the assault rifles that just go "POW, POW, POW" and sounds solid and snappy.
What's even better is the fact they added the detail of the FG-42 being both an open closed bolt gun depending on the fire mode.
*Try firing the FG-42 in single shots while switching between full and semi auto and hear if you notice a difference.*
The sound design is just way more realistic in bf5

Also, the models in bfv are if not perfect, close to perfection. In vanguard, they aren't. I mean, just look at that tiny m1911 or that weird looking m1897 shotgun. If in bfv the models look bigger to you its because there is something called FOV (the camera in this case is closer to the weapon). BF5 has good really good and realistic animations. The way the weapons are hold and the recoil works is both satisfying and realistic. *Not to mention the mind blowing and satisfyingly realistic sound effects!*
COD V has improved on it's weapon animations and details from the horrendous things they've done in WW2.
