I have a 2014 W212 and I’ve never heard any of these horrible crunching sounds. Especially around the climate control and center stack.... this car sounds like it was ragged out and not taken care of. Everything in mine is pretty solid. I’m not a fan of the plastic that is in the car but it doesn’t sounds as bad as this.
It’s the other way around. The build and material quality was noticeably better on the w211. The W212 has the interior of a much lower priced non luxury car.
I’m dying laughing at this. These cars are actually great quality vehicles that will likely outlast most cars on the road. To push on literally every piece of I interior trim that is not supposed to be pushed on and say it’s cheap is cracking me up. Pushing on buttons why? They sound perfectly fine, I see we have this engineer who’s telling us about push consistency in a car with 85k miles on it with finger nail gunk, jizz, Murray’s hair wax and other nasty shit stuck in a car that 7 years old. But that’s Mercedes Benzs fault? Lol! “I like soft touch and a love touching wood”. Cmon man you’re just too much.
Mine squeaked at the sunroof control panel and also pops around the sunroof mounts. Both easy fixes. I tightened the sunroof mounts and cleared both issues. My car has 200,000 miles.
I can say, as a Mercedes-Benz service manager, I’ve driven all Mercedes-Benz, new and old and they all have cheap plastic littered throughout the interior
@@LivingTheDream77 Another way is to let it fare over time with just driving it. Sure, I like the W212 and I may say that the W212 had some bit of value engineering ingrained in it compared to the better feeling W211, but the W212 still has good precision in which everything is put together.

The build quality is the same no matter where it's built. Why would Mercedes send cheaper/worse parts to one of their biggest markets? Engineers at Stuttgart are lazy as shit, that's the problem. I know this will sound ultra-cliche, but Mercedes quality isn't what it used to be. They were at their best in 80's and 90's, but then they spent $1 billion on R&D for the legendary W140 S-Class, that money didn't come back and they had to cut costs. W210 E-Class was the first victim of that and that's why the electrics are so shit and they rust horribly. I don't even want to talk about the W220 S-Class...
