I love his project as it more gritty and darker which shows more color of J-Hope. I am not shocked tho at the direction he chose to make. As in past solo project there was a bright theme underlying a dark undertone of lyricism discussing about his past or the hardships of being an idol. This time there is still the colorful positive J- Hope we know in his album cover but the music gives off old school hip hop
Hobi said he wanted to show his fans a different deeper raw edgy side of himself and he's succeeded tremendously... I'm a old Rage against the Machine fan at heart but this sh*t is FIRE. I love that you get that same kind of vibes from it... RATM Korn beastie boys kind of feels...💜 they are now calling the concert "Hobipalooza"💜💜 those metal heads at lollapalooza are gonna be shook when he plays... Oh man when you played Ol DB that took me Waaay back
Who are these people who are "weirded out" and "not feelin' it"? When hearing "MORE"? And the album? J-hope stepped out of their "genre" that is why. And we are here for it! GO J-HOPE! Be yourself! So glad you recognised Wu-Tang Clan. That is my most enjoyable track. Plus MORE and ARSON. With WHAT IF and STOP are for sure a top 4 for me. Yeah 4. Not 3. Thanks for this enjoyable listening stream.
yeah i love when something surprises me! Hobi is such a unique artist from his voice, delivery and sound. He's amazing. I felt that the album is short but it's SO good and I love the concept. Yesterday my favorite songs (besides More) were Equal sign and Stop. Now are so Future, What if, Arson and Safety Zone. But already Pandora's box is calling me hahaha. I basically love all of them and I guess I will be obsessed with a different song every day or every week lmao. And listening to Music Box: Reflection at dawn with headphones just gave me chills. 💀 The album playlist in order is simply a magnificent job. Hobi did it again... he's showing us all the thoughts and feeling he had inside and the messages he wanted to tell to the world. I Love it so much. and HIS LYRICS just blown my mind and made me think so much. I love the lyrics so much. I'm so proud of him. 😭😭💜 Can't wait for Hobipalooza 🔥🔥 I know people will get crazy with More and if he performs Equal sign and Future THE VIBES will be amazing.
I know a lot of people were surprised and didn’t like Hope’s change but I LOVE it. I’ve always loved rock/alternative/metal and old school hip hop cuz I grew up listening to it. MORE 100% sounds like a Mike Shinoda beat. Just love this Hope and I’m very happy with it! 😁💜 Cannot wait for the rest of the boys to drop their solo work!
gahhhh pls we have the same reaction 🤣 one thing about bts' songs and members' solo albums is that u need to read the lyrics (not the ones on youtube, the ones translated by the korean translators themselves to maintain the korean meaning of the song like doolsetbangtan) to make the experience so much better. like Equal Sign is about equality, What If is about him questioning himself if he doesnt have everything he has rn (money, fame, etc) do he still care about everything, and so on. their minds being put into their music are just beautiful.
J-Hope's 'Jack in The Box' is his love letter to hip-hop and storytelling. I love the conscious messages ("Equal Sign" is a true standout) and the two different sides to the LP (Plus that Ol' Dirty Bastard sample is brilliant) a tweet by Jeff Benjamin.
I’m an older fan - teenager in the late 90s. This is a new sound from J-Hope with old school inspiration. Lovin’ it! You need to get in a car and drive!
BTS has always been fans of 90s hiphop so I'm not totally surprised but i think More shocked me the most. Not a sound that i hear often these days esp in the Korean music scene.
my coworkers don't take kpop seriously and they keep lowkey trying to make me feel like i'm silly for believing that bts' "break" isn't a "breakup" they're so adamant that they're breaking up. they're both at least 10 years older than me. they make me feel like a teenager! when i say "they don't understand. they don't know what bts are like" they make me feel so childish. as if i'm delusional for believing the words of the members when they say they're not on a real hiatus. it's making me frustrated but i just have to remember that i don't have to listen to them. i don't need them to approve of or even LIKE my personal interest. they can believe what they want. i know the truth. bts are just relaxing, doing things at their own pace now, making time to do things that they want to do without having to be stuck to a time constraint. but anyway, learning that wu-tang gave hobi a sample, that might impress one of my coworkers. she's into that era of music, rap specifically, and i know she used to (or maybe still does) like WTC. so maybe if i let that slip today, maybe she'll at least have a change in perspective, just a little bit would be enough for me. honestly, though, i don't know how long i'm going to be stuck at this job, it's making me miserable that i can't talk about kpop/bts the way i'd like. none of them here like kpop or take it seriously. i wish i could be surrounded by like-minded people. but no job is perfect. i understand that. it's just, stifling to have to keep my special interest quiet. when proof came out, i was silently freaking out at my desk, when more came out, when jack in the box came out fully. whenever a group comes back that i love. i just have to keep it quiet because then i'll infodump about a topic nobody wants to hear and i'll feel embarrassed. the best i can do is decorate my office with bts things and leave it at that. but i'm glad to have gotten the chance to see you react to hobi's album, jre. it was a lot of fun experiencing it with you. i'm so happy you enjoyed it. i'm so happy you also love this direction hobi is going. it's so perfect. it's just what i needed. my favorites are "more" "what if" "equal sign" and "arson" and,,, who am i kidding? the whole album is soooooo gooooood.
I can relate to every word you wrote to a deep dimension. Like this is exactly my experience with Bangtan at a time when the people around me were already treating me like a pushover before they knew about me being an ARMY. I never told them anyway. But the moment they found out by accident via my playlist they have never stopped talking about it. I don't even reply back. I empathise with you big time and I hope its not doing much harm and you are with better people.
this album really.. is exciting. I havent heard something like this in such a long time, music that doesnt fit the trends, doesnt fit the current sounds, doesnt give a f and just makes its own path. back in the 90s people just made MUSIC
The head banging was a whole vibe I had going in my car. I missed the live but I was like I’ll do it by my self. 😂 grabbed a slush from QT after work got some gas sat in silence sad about how much it cost then jammed to JHOPE. 😂😂😂🫠
