@@SleepDeez sir, by any no means I am a music nerd but oh boyyyyy, I enjoyed listening to the episode! So informative and appreciative! It's so cool! Can't wait for the next ones!
You have a knack for this sh*t, good sir! Borahae! 🫰💜
Heads up!!!!! JHope's military discharge date is mid October 2024!!!!!! Only 3 months until we get our Hobi back!!!!!
JHope broke 2 records at Lollapalooza; first South Korean non-English language artist to ever headline Lollapalooza AND second, JHope sold out Lollapalooza within a few hours, that his performance day was renamed Hobipalooza!!!!!
After I accidentally "found" your review of my BTS bias Suga's Agust D's mixtape D-2, I immediately hit the subscribe button! I love your concept of listening to the album tracks from beginning to the end! While I loved D-2, I have no words to describe Suga's Agust D's D-Day album. It was mesmerizingly beautiful from the self-titled opening track D-Day to his second to last track Snooze featuring Ryuichi Sakamoto and WooSung from a Korea rock band The Rose! These 2 works, D-2 and D-Day, brought me back to the hip-hop rap world!!! I love RM's and JHope's work as well. I'm all in on the rap line.
You both said something telling, truthful and made me think of a suggestion with JHope! Re: see his street dancing in his rap style!!!
First LISTEN, like you do now, to BTS's Mic Drop (Steve Aoki remix). I like how your listening to the sound, the musicality gives you the ability to review the elements of the work objectively. Then, I would ask you WATCH the official MV of Mic Drop (Steve Aoki remix). Although all 7 members have parts/lyrics in all their songs, this is JHope's song to shine! JHope literally street dances to the lyrics throughout the entire MV. It is truly one of his best MV performances as a rap line artist and street dancer!!!!
18:47 "he raps like a dancer" EXACTLYYYYYYY
yes!
@@stormkive4356 we use to say RM raps with his brain, Suga raps with his guts and Hobi raps with his body.
i left another comment but consider checking out his docuseries hope on the street to see him reconnect with his dance roots. it doesnt have to be on camera but its paired with an album he made to be the soundtrack of the series! one track per genre/style of dance that he does each episode
I loved this!!!

To all the ARMYs watching, please be respectful to both of them. Their choices, likes or dislikes dont reflect the artistry that BTS has. Be mindful and don't PUSH BTS DOWN THEIR THROATS. Let'em enjoy whatever they wanna enjoy. Let them critically listen to the music and form their own opinions.

Y'all need to stop posting this nonsense when people are reacting to BTS. Like..Y'all are part of the problem lmao.
@doubleswithslight7037 they liked the post. I don't see any problem with this. And we are the face of BTS, they have said that on many occasions, and sadly some people always need to be reminded to just be decent humans. Being polite and respectful.

Ok now I finished the video and I must say:
When I got introduced to jhope by watching his lollapalooza performance video almost 2 years ago, I was shocked that he’s from bts. I was so sure that I won’t like the others or their groups music. I thought that he MUST be the very best member, the most charismatic one, the best performer, the best dancer… oh girl, I was in for the wildest discovery mission in my life. Little did I know. I was humbled a lot in this time and found so much joy in this bora world they created for and with ARMY. It’s the most rewarding thing to be invited by others to watch them getting to know those musicians, even more when it’s people like you with a lot of expertise that know how to entertain as well. Thank you for sharing 💜

J Hope in some records LITERALLY dances his bars across the rhythm, can't say it any better but you'll know it when you hear it. For me, RM is the Poet, Yoongi is the Producer and J Hope is the Dancer, that's the root of their hip hop.

As a 31yo hip hop head and ARMY, these are the EXACT types of reaction videos I have been searching for forever!! Keep doing these, they are super dope - especially the educational pieces for those who are not versed in hiphop and the origin of samples.
This is seriously my favourite BTS introduction reactions! It’s more fascinating because you are describing the influences, history and process of hip hop production.
Yessssssss very informative. So interesting and makes me appreciate it more learning all that stuff. Thank you sirs! 💜

Lollapalooza...I don't go to concerts, I don't go anywhere, but I came out for J-hope and yelled every line with him. ARMY was awesome that night and J-hope was on fire. 💜
This video is a lesson. I didn’t grow up with hip hop so I never have the vocabulary to talk about an album like this and why it hits so hard. So, I really appreciate the hip hop history lessons, the production lessons, the sampling basics, etc., using an album I love as an example. So fun, so respectful, so in-depth; thanks so much 💜💜
Yes, exactly! You said it well! In-depth, but fun & respectful. Sleep is sharing with us yet another way to enjoy BTS' music, and showcasing his own passion for music/creativity. Varnell's expertise & exuberance is a real treat to watch. When it comes from the heart, it's so meaningful.
100% agree
Yes! I appreciate everything they're teaching us that helps me understand BTS better.
I hope BTS finds your channel. They will really enjoy your observations and insights. BTS Beyond The Story, their official book, went into detail on how during pre-debut, RM and Suga held "hiphop" classes in their dorm to expose the rest of the team to the culture. RM would give them usbs with playlists and encouraged them to listen to as many hiphop artists as possible. Hobi learnt rapping from Suga and RM and developed his own style. BTS studied hard because the original plan was to debut a hiphop group. When the direction changed into an idol group, it is a relief that they kept their hiphop roots. To this day, their strong grasp of hiphop shows in their group and solo albums.
I know Namjoon will make sure their comeback album will be true to who BTS are musically and sonically. He said as much in the Mini & Moni Music Exhange conversation with Jimin.
Lol, Sleep Deez is the producer of My Time and has worked with BTS and PDogg before. I'm pretty sure they know his channel. ;)
@@ashleyder9164 That will be super cool. I think Mr Sleep Deez decided to share his insights about BTS' music fairly recently about a month ago starting with RM's Right Place Wrong Person. Hopefully when BTS gets some time to look at UA-cam, they'll visit this channel. 😊 Wouldn't be surprised if Pdogg has already watched the great videos on RPWP, D-2, On The Street and Jack In The Box.
Let the man feel the music first. That’s how I got into BTS. The feel. Music is a universal language after all. Don’t tell people how to fall in love. Please.
EXACTLY. For me its music first, and lyrics second. I NEED to be moved by the beat.
@@gidero Not saying lyrics do not matter. Of course.
Of course. Theres nothing wrong with connecting to the lyrics before the music. Everyone is different. :)
Jhope has Hope on the Street as an album as well. The albun contains the tracks from the documentary, he recorded songs that fit into the dance genres. It is amazing
Tell him to no fight it. ARMY has a saying "BTS finds you when you need them more" a I promise is so true.
Agreed. Every army has a story, everytime BTS has found us when we needed them the most in our lives the, just slowly come in silently like a cat and then make a home in our hearts.
No him fighting it and falling in his sword each time is so funny and he knows it lol
This is so literally true, and once they find you, they will never let you go...they'll hold on to you tight and then you'll realize you don't want to let go too.. 😊
FACT: BTS was recently named number 1 the "MOST AWARDED ARTIST OF ALL TIME" breaking Michael Jackson's record. BTS have accumulated over 1400 awards in a single decade as a group. Varnell is gonna really flip the switch when he sees J-Hope performance at HOBIPALOOZA and when he met up with J-Cole before the performance. He would also like the Hope on the Street Docuseries. There is also the Agust-D D-Day concert film. RM performed INDIGO for a small crowd of ARMY of which that's on UA-cam as well. Can't wait to see his reaction when he hears the cyphers, hip-hop phile, Born Singer (the old and PROOF 2022 version), Baaepsae, Ddaeng, UGH, Louder than Bombs, and RUN BTS. As an intro to the group make him listen to Map of the Soul, since he had it but never listened to it. HE GONNA REALLY CURSE AND KICK HIMSELF WHEN HE FINALLY LISTENS TO THE MAP OF THE SOUL ALBUM.

His voice got so soft, "it's a heart? oh wow. this is a heart."
I love that you explained how you two take in music first as producers and that you'll look at lyrics later. I respect that! We all consume music differently so it's cool to hear it from a different perspective. I'm a art director and so I take in all the visuals first and the storytelling and aesthetics first before the music. So it's really cool to hear about the things you two talk about because those things would totally go over my head.
I agree, I am learning so much. My background is in writing, and I always go to the lyrics first. It's really fun to see how professional producers approach a song. I really appreciate the little lessons along the way.

Is so amazing
All his albums are so different and amazing !!! His newest “On the Street “ watch his dancing
This album was a a transition for jhope cause everyone always has this soft image of him, and this was the darkest side we’ve seen. I actually love it, and this shows the talent and variety hobi has.💕
"...but you can call me Jaaaaeeee" 🤍🖤🤍🖤❤️🔥
Can we please also stop this notion that Hobi was not "hard" and that he was always soft. 1Verse, Baseline, Hangsang will show you how gritty his music was from the start. His lyrics and flows, especially in the earlier BTS work, had so much to offer, he can level with Joon and Yoongi, who had been doing this longer than him.
I would argue Hobi learned to be "soft", musically, because he started "hard".
@@ChiP-30 That’s why I said “everyone always has this soft image of him”. Even with the old image BTS had, most people dont know about their first steps, and jhope wanted to show this dark phase which is really different from his first mixtape Hope World.
It also brings reallystic thoughts he had from pandemic, thats why its “darkest”🧌.
Ik exactly, before his music we have been introduced to his personality which is the complete opposite, yes he has his "dark" or down moments but he's the positive hope guy who's always laughing. You'll have to see his Lollapalooza Chicago Concert where he was the headline act and had the biggest attendence ever for the history of Lollapalooza Chicago. It's were J Cole waited to see meet him.
He definitely drew a big crowd, but the attendance was higher because they had just increased the maximum attendance that year. We don’t actually know how many people were at his stage though. Articles about it just mentioned total people in attendance that day, since no one is actually there tallying it.
They did mention the fact that Sunday sold out a lot faster than usual, and that there was a spike after Jhope was announced as a headliner
@@NatalieMarie917 ticket selling went quickly, sold out Sunday show for the first time in years (even after, as you said, they apparently increased the max attendance), his merch sold out-worth over 1M. had millions of viewers on Weverse alone, was at the top of the trends. graphs show that the spike in lollapalooza online conversations was during hobi's set. the local officials thanked army for boosting the local economy that weekend because it was filled with cup sleeve and other fan events. the mayor introduced hobi's stage along with the organizer.
I really don't think his impact should be downplayed

"Oh wow, this is like a heart" bro your heart eyes- he's melting into a purple puddle haha. BTW we appreciate this a lot sleep and varnell, truly. As a regular listener, I personally couldn't get into hip-hop because all I saw were fights and dissing + female sexualization. But since my introduction to bts and the rapline? It's been better, I can respect the beats and the art. More so with the information you have been sharing, these little insights and facts make the whole albums and tracks much more understandable from an artist's perspective. And yes, as a collective army's are the most supportive and kind fandom ever, bangtan nurtured us and you fall for bangtan the same way you fall for the army's, it's a whole positivity bundle of wonderfulness, them and us together.
PS- we would looooove to hear everything about "Run BTS" because that song is dope af, especially the choreography video. Can that be an introduction to bts for Varnell? Because it was my first video I checked out of them (baby army here) and ngl I died and resurrected into a new person that day.
PS PS- Varnell if you read this let me tell you the meaning of purple and why it is our color, in one of the fan meets (2016) V (aka Kim Taehyung) came up with the term "Borahae"; it means like the last color of rainbow which is bora (purple), ARMY and BTS would trust and love each other till the end of time + 7 colors of rainbow with 7 members of bts.
The Western mainstream media has manipulated the image of rappers & hop hop in exactly the same way as the image of K-pop and BTS.

To get a feel for the rapline, I recommend three songs: Hip Hop Phile, Ddaeng, & LY-Tear. Hip Hop Phile shows how serious they are about their craft and how they truly respect the culture. Ddaeng emphasizes their lyricism, wordplay and Korean culture. LY-Tear is an example of their emotional range. Varnell Enjoy!

Forgot to say how well this album was received by music critics when it was released in 2022. Rolling Stone had it at number 9 on the list of the top 100 albums of 2022.
I know Hobi learned how to rap while he was a trainee and definitely worked hard to find his own style. But I also believe that he already has an innate talent for this and was able to tap into it and I'M SO GLAD THAT HE DID. What a huge blessing to the industry.

As an Army who grew up in the 90s listening to all the artists you referenced, this entire video had me smiling from ear to ear. I swear I almost shed a tear when you compared some of his sound to a mix between Onyx and PE! Thank you for giving JHope the time and appreciation he deserves so much. I’m so proud of him and all his accomplishments. 💜
Also a huge thank you to the extra insights and education. I’m just getting into music production and this was such a valuable way to learn. You two are amazing!!!
I'm sure you've heard this many times before, but in case you haven't... Thank you for always respecting bts and for treating them as equals. Too many people have dismissed them before they even listened. You are one of the few that have always seen them as musicians and not as stereotypes etc.... So again thank you!!!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
"He's introducing people to hiphop who would never hear it" That's definitely true! It's because of BTS that I started listening to hiphop and rap more, and then thanks to reaction videos like this, I learned more about the music genre and its cultural background. Needless to say, growing up in western Europe in an overwhelmingly white environment, hiphop is so undervalued and underplayed here (like literally, if you compare our charts to global ones and US ones) Over the past years of being an ARMY I also came to appreciate hiphop a lot more and also started listening to a lot of hiphop artists (though BTS will always be no 1 for me!)
“if all of them were together, they might not be that great” - Bro the way i laugh when i heard that 😂😂😂😂
I’m with sleepy, it was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard 😂😂😂😂😂😂 i loved 🤣🤣
bts honestly exposes army to sooo many genres and different types of sounds. i grew up just listening to pure pop, think american radio hits, and NEVER appreciated ballads, hip hop, rock etc. But as the boys put different tracks out, probably it's my bias towards them lol, i give everything a shot and end up loving whatever they do. And reaction channels like yours further deepen my appreciation for different sounds so please keep the educational aspect up, i love to hear the tidbits and songs that yall draw comparisons too :)
You need to see his Live Performance at Lolapalooza. He broke the record for being the no 1 Headliner that Lola ever had.
It was one heck of a show. I was there and it was one of the absolute best concerts I’ve ever attended, and I’ve attended some pretty insane concerts in my many years.
“He raps like a dancer.” Couldn’t have said it better. I think that’s why Hobi’s music really speaks to me the most. His music is MADE to dance to, it is in his soul.
He has a mixtape released before Jack In The Box, called Hope World, and he has a little EP that he wrote to be the soundtrack of his dance documentary called HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 available on Prime Video
One thing to keep in mind for Jhope's album "Hope on the Street Vol 1" is that each song correlates to a specific style of street dance. Because it's an OST for his docuseries, so it matched the beats and styles of the street dances he was doing. I think that would be really helpful to know when listening to that album. It's good to listen to on it's own for sure, but you definitely understand it more when you look at it in that light.
First note: YOUR QUESTIONS ARE NOT DUMB. I love that you have questions bc that means you are actually interested and curious about stuff, so please keep asking, everyone went throughout a similar journey, so it’s okay.
Also I gotta say denial looks funny af 🤣🤣🤣 but also Im loving all the little tidbits of info that both Sleep and Varnell give us about music, it’s refreshing.
Im enjoyed your trip (and denial) a lot. And I wish you are enjoying this too.
Last note: J-hope full Lollapalooza performance is for free on YT if you want to see it! Even if you don’t record your reaction Im pretty sure you are gonna enjoy seeing him live + you will see how army will show up for any of the boys!
Cheers!

Wow I have never thought about the unfairness of copyright regarding samples nor knew the weight it had/has on hiphop. Love to be socially educated. Really opened my eyes there
Copyright has been around since the founders (1790), and soon after technology was created to record music, music recordings were protected, too (I think 1913). But copyright’s extension to music SAMPLES wasn’t until the early 1990s, when the technology developed.
(Like, I think you got that, but it was a little confusing in the video, so I figured I’d drop it here.)
@@anARMY-c3x yeah, that’s why I added the correction, but prior to hip hip it was so easy to cover a song and profit from it. So many songs with major artists having their own versions on radio back in the day.
@@T7Karou I’ve seen some really aggressive and unfair deals when it comes to sample clearance. It’s definitely an interesting topic when you dive deeper into it. Look up the Biz Markie case in 1991 if you want to learn more.
@@SleepDeez just saw this. Yeah I totally believe. Also appreciate you sending us to the case so we can learn more. I do law stuff but not copyright, and I see plenty of racism in other areas of law. No reason to believe it wouldn’t be happening in copyright, too. Glad you raised it so we can learn more.
Absolutely living for these videos (and your sweet friendship with Varnell). Gonna join your patreon to support the education we are getting. 💜

Long Comment:
Lollapalooza performance is insane!
J-hope’s stage presence is phenomenal. I’m glad Varnell will get a taste of it because I feel like you don’t get the full j-hope experience without seeing him perform live.
Thanks so much for doing this reaction and for RM and Suga too. I love Jack in the Box album and his solo songs a lot! His musical taste is probably closest to my own pre-BTS and I love his flow. It’s very creative and catchy. He really imagines the song as a live performance as well so I think that is why he builds in places he can rest within the song.
This album was somewhat of a departure for him. He took a big risk and gave a great start to BTS’ chapter 2. All the guys really stretched themselves and tried new things in their solo work.
As someone who deeply misses the great beats and flows of 90’s hip hop, this album was also so refreshing. It felt like j-hope took a lot of the music I listen to and reimagined it.
I felt similarly when I listened to Right Place Wrong Person.
At some point you should see the documentary j-hope in the box because you can see him working on the album and preparing for Lollapalooza not even to react to it but just to enjoy it.
Suga’s documentary is very cool as well.
Sleep- you really did a lot of work in editing the video and providing context to both Varnell and to everyone watching. Thanks for that.
I hope you both have fun with this journey.💜
Yes just echoing this last bit. Thank you, Sleep, for putting in the work.
I think a big part of the environment you have in your comments has to do with the fact that you have always been very respectful and considerate in the way you talk not only about BTS but also about ARMY. Even in your older interviews it's very clear to see that you have a genuine appreciation for the music and the way you review and react to the music shows that you're coming from a place of knowledge and appreciation of the music and not just riding the coat tails for clout like some other reactors/people that have worked with BTS. ARMY is often dismissed as rabid fangirls but even during COVID you were very kind in how you talked about the fan base. We see your authenticity and appreciate it.
Not him in denial about the conversion....Varnell STOP 😂😂😂
right, rolls eyes
No point in denying it. The conversion meter goes with the rabbit hole and you are well on your way down.
We vote him to see the MMA 2019 Performance next to shut him up & then continue. 😅
To be honest, I don´t think he is ready yet 😅. Maybe Born Singer "for the beginning"?
@@johannaerler331 😂😂 we have to shock him...give him the speechless factor 🤭
He gonna faint 😭😭😭
@@_taemyhope219 Sleep will need to have Medic on standby that's all 😂😂🤭. His ARMY Conversion Meter will be broken.
The song that will make him speechless honestly is Hip Hop Phile. That song will blow his mind.
(This is so long, I’m so sorry! 🫣) I don’t usually post comments on UA-cam, but I just had to say this: I love what you are creating with this reaction series! 💜 Please know that we see, acknowledge, and deeply appreciate how much work you are putting into these videos. The extra education you are providing regarding music (hiphop) history and music production techniques & terminology makes my love for these songs (and our Bangtan Boys (men 😂), PDogg, et al. who create them) feel richer & more informed, and it feels like I have a better understanding about what Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hobi envisioned for each album from a production perspective. I’m also so proud of these men and the art they create, and while they don’t require outside/Western validation, and ARMY doesn’t require anyone to validate their music (because we already know they are exceptional!) it feels incredible to have experts in the field acknowledge & explain the ways in which our guys are talented artists and how they’ve created the music we love so much. I always seek out experts who react to BTS, because I want to learn & have a deeper understanding of as many aspects of our guys’ art as possible: dance/choreography, music production, lyrical analysis, stage production, costumes/fashion, video production, Korean history, culture & language, etc. And your 4 reaction videos have been more informative than the majority of “experts” I’ve watched over the past 4 years! I know it’s a lot of work, and the quality of your videos is so high that it takes a lot of time, so please don’t feel rushed as you work on more videos. We love what you’re creating, we love the friendship, camaraderie & chemistry between the two of you, we love learning more, and we love the respect you are showing our guys! Class is in session and we are SEATED! THANK YOU!! 🫰🫶💜
On this sample note, i heard that's why Trap became so popular bc there isn't much sampling in it originally just the use of the high hat
Born singer (rendition of Born Sinner by Jcole) I recommend as group song but I also highly recommend the older live performance
Also I recommend Hip Hop Phile but you haven’t to know the lyrics bc the shout out a lot of hip pop artists that inspired them & a lot of them are in the west.
J-hope is so precise with the rhythmic flow that reverb and even auto tune can take off the timing just that tiny bit. To me, that’s why he doesn’t use it as much as some other artists where the rhythm doesn’t take priority.
One of his signatures is how he plays with his vocal tone and the beat to create a very unique flow. He can beatbox and I often hear him playing with his voice like a beatboxer in the way he can manipulate his voice. More, Stop, Arson and Baseline (off Hope World) are examples of this.
It’s one of the things that makes him stand out. I love his raspy tone as much as I love his falsetto.
Our Hobi is talented.
2:00 de-nile is a river in Egypt 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Love this!!! Jack in the box is such an underrated album. Learning so much about the early 90s hip hop influences from this amazing reaction video. How I hope j-hope somehow finds this video!!
Thanks for sharing, Sleep!
Adem 😄
long time no see!
hope that you're doing well :)))
There is also a documentary on hobi and his story with dance
"Hope on the street docu series"
I mention it in case somebody is interested and didn't know about it
Fun fact, jhope Met j Cole (his idol) at lolapalloza, and from there "hope on the street" collaboration Was born
Thanks gents! I downloaded all the episodes posted so far to watch on my flights back to Bangladesh earlier this week. Made the time go by so fast. Can’t wait for what’s next (I have another long flight end of next week!). 🥰💜
There are so many lyrics to react to but for the Rap line there is a video where a Korean explains the lyrics of the masterpiece that is Ddaeng. Besides the lyrics (which are superb) the song goes soooo hard.
The channel you are talking about is DKDKTV, in case they need the info.
This is a must watch after you listen to ddaeng!!
Done by dkdktv
Oh yeah!! I was thinking you guys would love ddaeng!! It's 🔥🔥🔥 would love to see a video reaction to that!! 💜
Yes!
I’m a 54 year old dope old BTS ARMY (for about five years) and I have learned so much about how these albums are put together through you both which has made my experience listening to the solo albums so much richer!Thank you so much for explaining the technical aspects of the music! I love these videos you and Varnell have been doing. I smiled through whole episode! Big ARMY hug and love coming your way!!!💜
To be honest, the ARMY Conversion Meter has been rather conservative. No matter what Varnell wants you/us to believe.
snickers
@@DumplingFighter that meter is broken 😂
Listen...
I'm just a pasty little cutesy mom/teacher in the Midwest, there is nothing swag about me. No one's going to listen to my opinion about rap or hip hop.
BUT.
This music is special - it hits me in my soul and my guts. I could tell you why it is special to me, but I couldn't articulate why it should be special to the world. However, YOU know. I love your reaction videos because you articulate that. I already have mad respect for these boys, but your explanations and reactions elevate that love and respect. So thank you for that, and for explaining why these are special sounds people should be paying attention to.
Easily one of the best reaction videos I’ve seen. Thanks, not just for letting us watch Varnell fall down the rabbit hole, but for legitimately discussing the music. Had me screaming “that’s what I said!” so many times, too, especially the HOP/Onyx/MJB/NJS vibes, then an MPC tutorial? Come on 🔥btw about that meter, placing my bet now, V is gonna be the army-est army. Feel like it’s impossible to love music and not love BTS bc they love it, too. Blah blah blah, sorry, I just appreciate you 💜
💜💜 haha thank you! This comment made me smile, I’m happy you enjoyed all the extra details.
My favorite parts of BTS's songs are usually the lyrics, but thank you for appreciating and helping me appreciate their production.
j-hope is my favorite rapper in the group. He's so distinct and special but he has such a clear identity as a rapper. I think it's a cool thing to have such a clear signature but still be able to surprise and challenge fans the way he does with every drop. Like all three of his albums are SO HIM (super conceptual, elements of surrealism, old school hip hop with a twist (either grunge, daft-punk-y, funk), and sincere lyricism), but they all sound so different. I think he's such a complete artist. The way his mind thinks up these stories and the intricacy of the way he tells them is so special. And seeing him perform them takes it to the next level. I'm not exaggerating when I call him one of the best performers of our generation. I think he gets on stage and he's Mick Jagger, or MJ, or Prince. Put him next to Beyonce and Bruno Mars and he's on a level playing field. It's cool to me to see that from a rapper. Anyway, yeah, I'm kind of obsessed with him.
Well said!
Girl calm yourself haha
You’re spitting facts ❤
Yes yes yes 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 He's also my fav rapper in BTS 🫶🏾💜
@@JrKdMwhy do they need to calm down tho? They're expressing enthusiasm for a unique artist they really enjoy, nothing negative about it, only pure amusement. Maybe you are the one out of place for being a party pooper in a very positive and happy comment section
personally, future is my most favorite song on the album. i don't even need to read the lyrics and it makes me so emotional. it feels like it's saying "bad stuff happened, but we're here now and there's hope for the future, so just keep going."
I think if you guys watched suchwita episodes with RM (Episode 1 and 9) and J-hope (Episode 14) you can get some good insight of the thought process of how they made their solo albums, it would so interesting to see your perspective as they discuss various topics.
Oh. I like this idea! RM often does a breakdown/behind the scenes when albums come out, but of course he wouldn’t be doing that for the others’ solo albums. He wasn’t able to do one either his latest, since it dropped while he’s serving.(Unless BH has it in the vault, just waiting… cause his recent album deserves a docu & he was working people that could make it happen in a big way! 👀 Love your idea!
Fun fact... Teddy Riley was one of the main people that ushered New Jack Swing into K-Pop, he has written and produced for several K-Pop groups going as far back as 2012.
Please take Varnell through the BTS journey chronological when you get there, he will flip hearing the development! You two are amazing in the way you play off each other and hold so much knowledge. Excited to follow this discovery. 💜
51:41 he’s also very respectful and thankful for the people who let him sample the music. For example, I can’t remember which performance it was but he has before when he performed chicken noodle soup live he shouted Out the original artist, and I really liked with Lalapoolza that they had dirty ol bastard included in the visuals of what if
He did it at Lolla but I think that wasn’t the only time. And word is he paid her WELL, too. The few times she has spoken about it, she’s been hella supportive. 💜
@@anARMY-c3x do you mean young B? I was thinking of DJ Webster. Thanks for the info!
Edit: she goes by Ms. Bonnie now! Very talented lady.
Love hearing him calling our Hobi "hard". 💜
For rm either “joke” or “do you” gonna be lit😂
What's your favorite track out of RM?
bro those are like- LIT❤🔥🔥
I cant wait for him to watch Ugh and Ddaeng, cyphers. Im jealous, i wish i can relive the moment of hearing them for the first time.
He need to watch hobipalozaa full stage
I just saw that BTS is now the most awarded artist of all time with over 1400 awards.
ARMY is nice now but when Varnell gets past his denial phase and we realize we have to fight him for tickets in 2025, it's on.. I am loving the educational aspect of these!. That patreon membership is calling my name too.
All ARMY are kumbaya-ing but we all know we will drop our moots if we only had one ticket.
And our moots would get it. 😂
@@ChiP-30which is actually very stupid of us because if we work together we know that we get things done better Ticketmaster got us of warin😂
Yoooo so true.
your videos have infinite rewatch value lol. love the musical analysis, name dropping of other artists/producers i should be checking out (the list is so long now hahaha), and insight on music production. that part where sleep shows how the npc works was so cool, but also really appreciate the social commentary on sampling and copyright law, and the subtext of what that means re: how people in power attempt to stifle creativity in black and brown communities in america (still to this day).
also, the dad jokes are killing me. "line dance" lmaoooooooooo
love these videos so much. watching this journey brings me a lot of joy. thank you!!!
j-hope is a songwriter, composer and producer as well as a recording artist and he directed this entire project. It’s very authentic to himself and exposes his darker thoughts and feelings, particularly as the member who has taken on the “hopeful” persona and strives to raise people’s spirits. It’s a very vulnerable release for him, and he made an exquisite piece of art in the process.
Yes!
I honestly really appreciate that you react to the music and production first, as very few people have the experience to break it down like you do!
My whole respect for jhope ,his music and his lyrics. Without him and RM and Suga i would never ever interest in rap and hip-hop,i swear. Their stage presence on another level, and Lollapalooza will definitely confirm it.
Not only do the members introduce us to new types of music, but by watching people like you, who have deep knowledge of music react to and ruminate on the sounds and production of the music, it gives me a deeper appreciation to the music and the member who created the project.
Love this so much guys! Thank you Varnell for giving this a chance and even if you don't like a track or album it's okay we all have different tastes. I appreciate how respectful you are and that your willing to give it a chance. I've not caught a live with Sleep before so only thing I suggest when on youtube live is having a mod or a few mods that you trust ready to join that will deal with the comment section, sadly I was on a youtube live once celebrating one of the members birthdays and we got raided by trolls & BTS haters. They had to end the live and start a new one for subscribers only. Most of army is a lovely community and we try to emulate the BTS members who are very compassionate people, we have grown to a large fanbase but sadly so have the people who love to hate on BTS out of jealousy or just because they are so big now etc. It's just a precaution I'd like to suggest, hopefully there won't be any issue like that, real army try to follow BTS' example of being more positive, we love and respect all seven of the members. J-Hope get's out of the military sometime in October so I'm excited for him to be home soon.
