Frickin Awesome!!! I’m looking forward to the next video. I enjoy the story behind the artist. Keepin it real, learning that these impressive creations take time and life experience to get to a point where there is success. Definitely a motivational video. Thanks for your hard work.
I totally relate to this dude. He mentions the surprise he experienced with sculpting much better than drawing. I used to love drawing when I was younger. I stumbled upon sculpting with a soap stone and a dremmel tool; then realized I sculpt better than I can draw on paper. Amazing stuff! This is getting me to think about picking up sculpting as a more lucrative passed time. Thanks for bringing this vid Samurai!!
I remember, when I was a kid, you'd always see those ads for bronzing baby shoes, and always wondered how they did that. This guy is an amazing artist! Really beautiful work he does with an old workshop and tools. Place looks like a bomb was dropped on it with all that broken ceramic everywhere too! Goes to show you, it isn't the shiny tools or state of the art garage or workshop, it's the person doing the work and their skills or talent that matter. Great vid! Thanks for taking us on the "field trip"!
but seriously dude i love your vids and passion.....im currently a plumber but for the last few years, my passion and love for woodworking and timber framing has grown and grown .....you are very inspirational keep the vids up
I worked in a dental lab for over 8 years and the process is the exact same molds and wax ovens. It is incredible how similar it is. Thanks for the great video
It's awesome seeing how Nathan's art is spread across Canada. I've driven through Vulcan so many times and never stopped. Definitely going to check out his Spock bust next time I'm travelling to red deer. The piece he's working on for red deers new arena will be a must see once it's completed as well. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing! Educational in both technical and philosophical way! Finding out who you are in your true Nature is so important! So glad Nathan did it. I can also consider myself blessed being able to find my own talents. Love & Respect!
Such a well explained video. I've seen (too) many start-to-finish type casting tutorials so I guess I know what was going to be said, but Nathan puts everything so concisely.
Thanks for the tour of Nathan's workshop/studio, Jesse; unbelievable work. Art-work like that boggles my mind (I'm not even good at drawing stick-men, or colouring inside the lines), plus the added complexity of negatives/positives/negatives to bronze is incredible. Your do beautiful work, Jesse, but his stuff... that's like god-level. I'd hate not being able to see colour though, I wouldn't trade that for his gift.
Not doing so well with the buttons today, LOL. I was going to say. Badass Friday field trip! Thank you. I’ve always wondered how that was done. A follow up vid of when they pore the bronze would be cool.
Very cool tour there Samurai ! THX . More like this will be great. I totally get how the creativity of others will inspire our desire to create but a bust of yourself ??? Capture your kids in bronze , now that would be amazing !!!
I have enjoyed some of your videos and recently recommended you to another you-tuber I thought might also find your work interesting and inspiring, I saw your bio video and have to admit I was quite surprised and impressed with your candor, it explains allot about your devotion and attention to detail in your work. I have to say thank you for sharing! This video was great!
I saw that it was a 21 minute video and thought, “I don’t have time for this”. Well 21 minutes later I am still watching. Great video! Thanks for the tour.
Wow! That was great! What a humble guy (not you, Samurai...), so much talent in so many feilds yet he obviously knows there is more to learn... And how do we learn? By making mistakes and fixing them. I have more to learn... Thank You, Sir Samurai!!
Awesome video. This is the process I was trying to think of posting on alec steele's videos when he started casting but I pulled a total blank on what it was haha.
Wow. Amazing bronze sculptures and this guy is on par with Remington. I thought the gardener sculpture looked like Arnold Palmer. Too cool and thanks for sharing. Cheers!
This is a very interesting video. I am also color blind and did a lot of portrait painting but I could only do black and gray. I discovered I could sculpt only about a year and a half ago and I have been doing that almost exclusively now for that time. I think he is correct in that sculpting is a matter of creating shadows in monochrome clay. Maybe that is why color blind artist might find they take to it quickly.
Nathen Wow just Wow**** What an amazing artist.. Thank you Jessse for showing us this..

Sheered Wheel Bearing 🐻 Its been said that if you can draw, then you can sculpt. Sculpture is nothing more than drawing in 3 dimensions.
WOW!! You fellas with all the talent, blow me away. Thanks for the tour!!!!
That was wonderful! Someone very close to me was a sculptor for lost wax casts; this tour brought back so many memories. Thanks so much.

I know you’re the ‘samurai carpenter’ and all, but I think you’ve elevated to ‘The Samurai Craftsman’ elite status now. Don’t short change yourself
