I reacted to another episode of MONSTERS INSIDE ME where a guy had something growing inside his sack! Check it out here! ua-cam.com/video/lzRiIhBeCA0/v-deo.html
There’s another episode of my feet are killing me about a woman who kept a boot on for a couple of years. She didn’t take it off at all, not for a shower or even sleep it was in a terrible state. I don’t do feet either
I have a bit of a phobia of doctors, I started to watch Dr Youn a lot and it really has helped me not feel as scared of doctors 😅 finally booked a checkup after years and years of dodging ! Thanks Dr Youn!!
Dr Youn's reaction to this episode is a great example of how he helps. Notice how he got worried when he saw the symptoms that this guy was having? and wanted to give this poor guy a diagnosis and treatment? That shows that Dr Youn is not only a professional doctor, he's also comforting and empathetic.
Luckily it's super easy to treat and the average doctor will approach the symptoms with the same attitude that Dr Youn had, figure out what's wrong and start treatment ASAP.
This reminded me so much of the horror stories of Baylisascaris Procyonis (raccoon roundworm) when I was working in a small animal clinic that also handled sick and injured wildlife. There was one doctor there who always got made fun of by the owners for being too careful when it came to wearing proper PPE and encouraging us all to do the same. I will always appreciate the fact that she cared so much for us all when the people who were SUPPOSED put us at such serious risk.
One of the most horrific episodes of Monsters Inside Me was the one on barnacles. Most episodes I can handle because to get the parasites I would have to travel to other countries. But barnacles aren’t like that. Freaked me out as a kid for sure
I had scabies years ago. They didn't go away until my dermatologist gave me some pills. My insurance wouldn't cover the cream. I thought they were mosquito bites. I was shocked. Still not sure how it happened but it was itchy!!!
I don't hardly mail anything any more, but when I do, I never lick envelopes. I saw an episode where a woman licked an envelope and got roach eggs on her tongue from the clue, and they hatched!
I had a worm in my eye, about 10 years ago. I was told to put a hot damp cloth against my eye, because that would kill it. It worked, but I always wondered what it was, why I got it, and where it went.
I really miss that show, Monsters inside me. Doctor Youn. You should react to the episode where this guy got a pea stuck in his lung and it was causing him breathing problems because it tried to sprout.
There are much better things like strongyloides which you can easily catch in the US by walking barefoot. The worms penetrate the feet and travel through the body to the lungs where they then migrate up to the back of the throat and are swallowed before setting up shop in the intestines. They can then cause self-reinfection and if you become severely immunocompromised they can overrun your lungs with damage due to the worms migrating.
I don't usually comment on your stuff, dr.y, but I really felt the need to tell you how your quirky curiosity and genuine charisma has me coming back to watch, lol. Keep it up!!
I can't remember which episode it was but one of the most interesting was the guy who was a scientist and finally got frustrated enough and pulled the worm out of his own mouth with like tweezers or something.
I went to Africa for a few weeks when I was a teenager. Absolutely spectacular. Came back with tuberculosis and fly eggs in my arm (which swelled up and turned green). Nothing beats seeing baby elephants in the wild. I’d do it again, but with double the bug spray.
I just love you, Dr. Youn. You educate me and make me laugh. I'm an old lady and I need all the laughs I can get! Seriously though, you are so kind, and I'm sure your patients love you as well. See you in the next video! ✌️❤️
Hey Dr Youn! Been watching your videos for a while and just realised I wasn't subscribed! Aaaanyway, subscribed now :) Just to say hi, thank you, and also, this is my favourite setup, looks great! The orange scrub is also a plus.
If you've ever had bed bugs, you'd call them monsters... a so called friend purposely gave them to us once. It was a nightmare! I get nauseated just thinking about them
We had a crazy neighbor that used to bring In furniture from any curb in the city. Couches and chairs included. Of course, she got bedbugs from one of these adventures and they eventually made their journey from upstairs to our apartment downstairs. We had to throw away both mattress, a huge expensive beanbag chair for our son, various other fabrics that could not be washed. We slept on air mattresses surrounded by baking powder(it kills them) for a month and everyday we would spray the apartment, wash/dry our clothes on high heat and make sure the whole floor was covered in powder. We couldn’t afford the expensive heater treatments so we combined all the internet tips and after two weeks of no bedbugs anywhere, we were finally free. Haven’t had any since then. We only use mattresses they can’t live inside now, seeing my sons bed with those things inside it was really infuriating and I was not going to let that happen again. We now spray monthly as a deterrent. The one crazy neighbor is gone but I’m sure we could get another crazy one just as fast. Bedbugs are not a joke, hard as hell to get rid of. If you see any in your house, please immediately enter emergency mode. If you go about it in a non urgent manner, you will have an infestation in no time. Please take it seriously. Ps the bites are awful. Itchiest I have ever been and I’m an outdoorswoman.
@@dammar117 Yeah... they had them and put a bunch in a pill bottle that they opened on the couch when they came over. We were living in a studio apartment so the couch was the bed for one of us and there was a futon behind it for me and my then fiance that got infested too. We found out what they did because they tried to do it to another friend but got caught. The second friend told everyone what the first friend had done.
The fact this dude saw egg sized bumps on his stomach and was like eh whatever really makes me shake my head. Especially knowing you travelled to Africa in recent past. I am glad he is ok though. Perhaps next time (if there is one) he will pay attn and seek help earlier on.
This reminds me of the "Night Gallery" episode called "The Caterpillar" , where a caterpillar is crawling around inside a man's head, after getting in through his ear! Great episode.
I feel like a lot these shows also demonstrate how hesitant many Americans are to go to the doctor due the cost or lack of insurance. Many of us are conditioned to wait until it’s absolutely an emergency so that we now it’ll be “worth it” in terms of cost 😢
How you as a doctor diagnosed this medical condition. If you are a mechanic, you should know how a car put together, however as a doctor, your anatomy class will be your knowledge to base your diagnostic with. How methodically you deduce a case to find the right answer. Does medical school teach you how to find an illness quickly and on the point.
This exact show, which I watched in high school science class is why I am afraid to let a fly near my eye. Literally installed an irrational fear in me
I like shows like this because they're like awesome to watch. Also I can't believe he lives in Oakland California. I live in Hayward California which both reside in Alameda County in the Bay Area part of California.
Hi, I need help (advise) with what to do or what medications to take after a fibroid surgery. My mother is in west Africa, Liberia where the health care quality is practically 0 out of 100! This is her third surgery for the same problem (fibroids) and she said she was prescribed Omeprazole for the pain. I don’t know anything about medicine, but I don’t trust that country’s healthcare system. PLS WHAT DO YOU THINK?
WHYYYYYYY DO PEOPLE WAIT SO LONG TO GO TO THE DOCTOR?! How do you have heat inside an egg sized lump and you don't go to the doctor? I would have been the first one at that ER!!
I saw an Armadillo in my yard and I wasn't tryna to get leprosy so I ran away. As a kid I had lice, pinworms and every other parasite a kid gets from eating mud
UM 👀 no, thank you. If I have a parasite in my eye, I would want them to remove it. Not give me a medication that’ll make it die inside of me and it’ll still like be there whatever.
LOL! Dr. Youn, I have seen a worm in an eye. Unfortunately, the patient got it from getting her contacts wet in the shower, in the US. It actually began to eat her eye, and she lost vision in that eye! They were trying to keep it out of the other eye! So sad she was like 17/18 then. I think of her often.

My mom traumatized me with videos like this dues to eating pork meat xD besides kbbq I can't do pork haha
I love how even though you're a plastic surgeon, you can talk about other fields of medicine and show us that you're a great doctor.
OMG I loved "Monsters Inside Me" when I was in middle school! So sad it stopped making more episodes ;-;
Same, I always found it really interesting to watch
same
Wow! I didn’t know that show was a bit older. I discovered it a few months ago and then binged on it!
I guess they ran out of cases of monsters I side of people 😂
Maybe it's a good thing so we don't get sick from seeing these
Wait a minute...

This show made me PETRIFIED with the thought of getting worms!!!!!! 😭

Consume more onion, garlic, and hops in your diet.

Appreciate your Educating us!
This show is what got me interested in studying parasitology. Please do more reactions to this show!
Can you do a video on the topic ? I'd totally watch
Yeah this show watching it as a young kid. Makes me wary of some things and I think slowly seeped into my nightmares.
The worm one will definitely be in my nightmares after this...
@@alternativeprincess4783 As we've seen, worms are parasites that can be treated with pills.
Monsters Inside me is my favorite show to watch, so cool seeing Doctor Youn reacting to it!! I'd love to see more of this!
me: you don't have to watch this... you can stop anytime. also me:👀
Same 😂
Me right now 😭😭
No thanks. :)
Lol
Yeah, I'll pass on that action.
No thanks for what?
@@DiegoGomez-pk5tg watch the entire video if you wanna understand.
Can you do a playlist reaction for monsters I side me? That would be amazing if you could.
There's a typo there. It says "Monsters I side me." Just thought I'd point that out! Have a great week!
Omg now my eyes are itching after watching this 🤯🫣
I had scabies years ago.

I think Discovery+ might still have it
I binged a bunch on UA-cam in the past, but not sure if they are still there
never seen that episode. thank you for sharing so I can also never lick envelopes again.
They have it as a podcast!!
This show is why I’m so paranoid that I unknowingly have worms lol
Same 🔥
Have a round of Quinine often. It kills human parasites iinside us. And is cheap and easy to make at home. Maybe once a month or so.
Same. I've urged doctors to run larvae tests just in case. They roll their eyes, but do it anyway to put me at ease.
This is scary I can't stand touching my eyes that's why I wear glasses and not contacts I would go crazy if I had a worm in my eyes 😅
I'm the same way. I can't stand the thought of anything touching my eye, let alone a freaking worm being in there!
So happy to see this movie as a discussion. More people need to learn about lyme
I should not watch this video just before bed. Going to dream about this now. Yet I can't stop watching.

Loa loa is common in jungle areas where slow flowing streams are found. He had to go into a forest and hang around there for a while.
Watching Doc Youn's reactions is way better than the actual show. I'm sitting here at 4am, crying with laughter 😅!
Aww man.. this show.. the memories. I love medical stuff, find it super interesting, but THIS. The whole idea of parasites always makes me squeamish 😂

I had a friend whose horse got worms in her eye. Thankfully she was treated and fine, but that sounds horrifying.

A contact lens can’t move to the back of your eye ball. It can move under the lids. It can’t get past the conjunctiva.
