@@StevenClark-l8r, I wonder if the reason why the only commercials we see today are because the pharmaceutical companies and insurance companies have all the money to advertise these days?
Just found out pharma/rx/drug ads are banned in France. Lucky them. But oddly, buying things otc in general drugstores in France is a hassle. Weird. Some sort of trade off?
0:27- Andre Kostelanetz, who recorded many semi-classical and "mood music" albums over a 40 year period (among other musical achievements), He passed away in 1980, at the age of 78.
1) The NBA on CBS theme sounds like the Partridge Family...2) at 39:14---I always wondered what the were saying to each other at the sports desk after the audio went off!🤣🤣🤣🤣
TV was a lot more “watchable” when we only had three channels. Ads were better, and jingles were better quality music than most of the popular music today. I cringe every time I hear a Burger King ad because I remember the cute original from 50 years ago. Ex-jock announcers weren’t any smarter, though-like the guy who tells us he’s going to give us the “analyzation” of the game.
This was when Shea Stadium hosted the Mets, Yankees and Jets. Yankee Stadium was in the first year of its two-year rebuild and Giants Stadium was two years away.
1:47 - Telly Savalas in a promo for his 1974 MCA album. I don't know if it's her, but the woman in the ad with him looks like former Playboy Playmate Christina Smith. 5:57 - Mason Adams (I think?) for Security Pacific Bank. 21:44 - As others have noted, that's a young Christopher Reeve in the ad for JC Penney. 23:55 - Ricardo Montalban for the 1975 Chrysler Cordoba. 25:38 - Rich Little for Pizza Hut. 26:26 - As my friend Maynard said below, that's Andrea Marcovicci in the Polaroid commercial. 37:39 - Bart Starr for Stihl chansaws.
The good old days of when not every 3rd commercial was for a prescription drug during NFL games. 🏈
you mean like last weekend? Not picking on you but the damn drug commercials are everywhere these days!!!

Sadly, a lot of sports, local children and game shows from 1974 are lost.
Going back & forth between 2 football games is the closest to a time machine we have
Well, they weren't exactly the most happening NFL teams in the mid-70s! They were exactly the Dallas Cowboys or Pittsburgh Steelers!

And in a "Bicentennial minute", as a bonus.
Telly savalas made an album? Awesome stuff and Christopher Reeve in a JCPenney commercial double nice 👍
21:42 Actor Christopher Reeves for JC Penny before he became Superman
33:22 - this Norris Industries ad is very likely an inspiration for the "Zinc Oxide and You" sketch in KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE.
That guy in the JC Penney commercial is a real super man...

The Rams/Jets game here was played October 27th, 1974
References to the John Hadl trade. Certainly a disastrous outcome for the Packers.
The very first clip on the tape is a '200 years ago today' segment for 10/27/1774...so yeah😁
Jack Buck was 50 years old but looked 80.
@@diamonddog13you go fight at the Battle of the Bulge and let’s see how you age. He had a rough early life.

26:30 Andrea Marcovicci in the Polaroid commercial.
I am going to see her sing at The Gardenia in Los Angeles next month!

1:31 A very young Jerry Brown
That trade fior John Hadl set my team back several years. Dumbest move the packers ever made.
I have that Telly album.
3:05 we had a 75 Caprice coupe. EPA rated at 13/18 mpg.
5:54 "Monday in Color" Seems strange to indicate color since NBC had been a full color network for almost a decade
21:44 is Christopher Reeve before he was famous.
21:45 Christopher Reeve!
All of this footage is from Sun. 10/27/74
Assuming this was recorded in sequence, the Columbo NBC Mystery Movie footage may be from the Sunday prior
@@chrisutley2859 It appears to be all from the same day, just out of sequence.
21:50 Is that a very young Christopher Reeve perhaps ??
Definitely
Telly sings!
Who was that lady at 36:24 who interviewed the Blazer fans?
Probably Phyllis George, before she joined "THE NFL TODAY."
I believe her name is Jane Chastain.
@@meheuck That is not Phyllis George
You're on the opponent's 28 yard line and you punt??
The Jets kicker got injured earlier in the game, that's why they were using their punter on extra points
5:35 "We will return to tonight's Columbo movie following station identification."
